This guide intends to gather information on the bounty hunter missions and the collecting areas in order to optimise mixing bounty hunter and collector roles and make the gameplay less monotonous. The idea is to combine infamous bounty missions (as they are among the most interesting and rewarding missions within its role) and collecting, by getting the collectibles during and in between the bounty hunters missions. Another advantage of infamous missions in comparison to the legendary missions, is that your moonshine and trader production do not stop during your infamous missions. So you can also combine iinfamous bounties with moonshiner and/or trader roles. In addition the guide contains few tips and tricks relative to any particular bounty hunter mission (check tor the "General Tips & Tricks" and the end of the guides index).

The collectors map of Jean Ropke [jeanropke.github.io] allows you to see all the collectibles' spawns. So you'll be aware of the collectibles you can grab in your surroundings before you choose a mission on any bounty board.

Pick your Bounty mission
Use this guide's index to find a certain mission in the desired location. Due to this guide, you'll know in advance the locations any bounty mission may bring you to. Choose your mission according to the location you want to collect in. In my example below, I chose the Part 2 of the Hoare (you know the Part by looking at the number of crosses on the poster), Roache and Gault in Saint Denis, my objective being to collect in all Saint Denis and near Lakay.

• When Wye arrives in Tumbleweed, watch out for the turret on the main road and the unleashed dogs

Infamous bounties have a 48 minutes real time cooldown on their respective bounty board. Meaning you can't run two infamous bounty missions back to back on the same board. But instead of delivering your bounty to the same location where you selected the mission, you can bring it in another sheriff's office. (The exception is when your delivery destination is set to a prison wagon. In this case, you can only deliver to the wagon). Make sure to check the location of your whereabouts at the moment of bringing the bounty into custody, and organize your route accordingly. Any viable delivery alternatives are written in the comments of each infamous mission.


By knocking out your target, they'll have less chance to flee after being hogtied. To properly knockout, hogtie your target, equip a lasso (to avoid shooting at your target), and kick it until the knockout. Usually, female characters get knocked out after one to two kicks, while male characters will need three to four kicks. Avoid to kick your target after the knockout, at the risk of killing it. Some male characters get knocked out after one kick only, be careful and watch for the knockout xp award on your screen.

If you consider not having enough time to collect before delivering the target, althought you want to deliver at an optimal time for the reward, the safest way is to throw the target in your bounty wagon and park the wagon near the delivery location (most optimal being 12 or 9 minutes).

If you afk more than 15 minutes, open up your catalogue to avoid being kicked for inactivity.

If you don't have a wagon, take the target on your shoulder.


During Bounty Hunter monthly events, there may be a 2X or 3X reward for bounty hunter missions. Be aware that some of the infamous bounties are "broken" and do not grant you the promised 2X or 3X rewards, but instead only usual payout (which was never fixed by R*, and probably never will). Therefore during those events, if the bonus rewards are relevant to you, you may prefer not running the "broken" missions. Here you'll find the list of those broken missions:


After reaching level 30 on your bounty hunter role, you'll unlock an additional award that you'll be able to grant indefinitely. You'll be able to trade in 10'000 Bounty Hunter role XP for 0.5 gold, $100 and 500 XP. To do so: menu > progress > awards > bounty hunter > press space tp trade in. Make sure to keep an eye on this award to get some extra gold.



As you collect the items, make sure to remove them on the Collectors map.

You can also mark some items as important (by right clicking), according to the priority you attach to them. Those items will be outlined in red color.


Horse
If you're a complete beginner, a horse should be your first investment. Any War / Multiclass horse will do the trick for bounty hunting. The stats do not matter. All that matters is that you bond with it to level 4 as soon as possible. Later on (rank 54), I'd recommend hooded stirrups for a stamina drain rate reduction.

Weapon
Buy yourself a good weapon. I'd recommend to also have at least one long range weapon, a Rifle (is also handy if you cross the path of an animal you might hunt) or a Repeater.

Reinforced Lasso
After being hogtied by a reinforced lasso, a target will need more time before untying himself. A must for a bounty hunter. Grab it as soon as you can.

Bounty wagon
Very practical when you have several bounties. Plus, the targets cannot escape after being placed in a bounty wagon.

Bolas
Bolas are mandatory at first but may be very handy when you deal with several bounties. You can grab three bolas at a time at the gunsmith. At the fence you may buy additional bolas as well.

Looting is one of the most lucrative means for a collector, especially while looting bounty targets and outlaws. You'll be able to scavange tarrot cards, alcohol bottles, jewelry items. If you have a shootout with many outlaws, make sure to loot some of them before killing the last ennemies (to avoid some of the bodies to disappear). Regarding collecting, if the time at your disposal is restricted, I'd focus on cards and alcohol bottles. as these are the most commun items that you'll also loot on the outlaws.

As you launch your infamous bounty hunter mission, you have some time to collect. Although try to get to the first demanded area at around 10 minutes mark. In some missions a countdown appears at around 11 minutes and something and if you don't manage to get there at time, the missions aborts.

If you notice any random encounters (a grey blinking dot would spawn nearby on your mini map) on your way to your bounty, don't pass by. A dog may bring you to a chest with a collectible.

If you see an agonizing animal, finish its pain to get an arrowhead.


During your missions, you may encounter various animals like cougars, bears, wolves. I'd recommend to take a rifle with express ammo with you. If you manage to get a predator in good condition, you may call in your hunting wagon, stow the animal's pelt in the wagon, and go on with your bounty mission.
