Intro
You can find the affinities for your particular game install in this directory:

SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\The Executive\Data\Shared\Other\Affinities.json

You can reach this folder by right clicking on the game in steam and clicking browse local files.

(You could also say "to hell with it" and change each value in each json array to 3 if you wanted perfect movies all of the time. Credit to the devs for making these things easy to edit.)

Also, there's a website created by the user "Wuot" on the Discord that will do all of the thinking for you: executive-helper.pages.dev
Link To Table
I published a Google sheet to the web, it's easier to view that way than trying to format something on Steam: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTJgRjVUVjmw09rCRYm5hIOkHpR-nWNFg5hMmc9KuDQnKIOTUoVJRAl3PLNGpwtTLuOwybXj-WU02Oj/pubhtml

When reading the table, 0 is the lowest value for a particular combination (meaning you'll make a terrible movie), and 3 is a perfect genre match. When choosing sliders for multi-genre movies, average the two values and you'll be close enough for a great movie.
Just Give Me The Best Combos!
I wrote a script to parse the Affinities.json file and determine the best possible combinations. Note that this does not take seasonality into account, because the season does not impact reviews, only sales, and it would have made the list too complex. It also does not take the market, actors, or directors into account, so there is still some variability that you'll need to experiment with (or check the game's files) to maximize your movie ratings.

This is only intended to give you a headstart on harder difficulties where you can't afford to use bad combinations from the very beginning. Here are the criteria chosen for a combo to be listed here:

  • Both Genres are a perfect match (value of 3)
  • The theme for both Genres is a perfect match for both genres
  • The rating has a value of 3 for both genres.

  • action - crime - police - r*
  • action - crime - revenge - r*

Seasons
As I mentioned earlier, seasonality impacts the sales of your movie, along with other factors like topic/franchise fatigue, market, trends, competition, etc. In the spreadsheet, you can see the genre boni for each season currently in the game. Remember that this is a bonus, so a value of 0 just means that there's no bonus, not that there's a penalty.

@Peterson the calculator that Victor linked to is pretty good. Generally speaking, genre01 weighs more than genre02 in box office calculations (75/25), but you can just average the values and still get a good grade most of the time.

hi.

When we speaking about multi-genre films, which genre taking more count in production and post-prod.? First or second? I'm thinking about sliders. Action and adventure have different numbers in Writing, Set design Special FX etc...

All set! Now it's available. The first item is now the selection of the production budget, and extra resources will be suggested along with the planning. But just a reminder: the higher the film's budget, the greater the risk, which can also negatively impact critics' reviews.

In regards to Twitchy's first comment: Animation is the only genre I'm missing. That drowns out some thoughts. Oh, and yeah, pretty much everything affects score; 9.2 for some Friendship College Musical.

@MOSHA you're correct, the audience and critics score both impact your final review score.
