This is what you are really here for.

If you know what you're after, look no further

If you have no idea what anything means, it either means the Augmentation system has undergone another massive rework, or you're still new to the game. For the former, I wish you luck. For the latter, skip to introduction and come back later.

Introduction
Crafting Benches in Nightingale can be equipped with Augments. T3 Workbenches can equip up to 4 Augs. All Augs have a range of up to 2 foundation tiles/floors away from the exact centre of the Crafting Bench.

You don't really need to worry about this until you've hit the lategame, aka unlocked the entire Progression Tree.

Augs mainly:
  • Reduce Time needed to Refine materials (e.g. Wood Bundle to Lumber)
  • Increases Output from Refining
  • Increase stats of crafted Tools & Clothes
  • Decorate your Estate

You can equip your desired Augs at will. However, Bonuses to gear are calculated only when you select the recipe. For a new Aug to take effect, you must click on the ‘back’ button and re-select the recipe for the Augmented stats to show up.

As with just about everything in Nightingale, there are 3 Tiers of Augs. Same tier & type Augs do not stack. (i.e. Stave Throne & Two-Headed Shelf, both T3 Berserker cannot be equipped at the same time).

Same type, different Tier Augs do stack (i.e. Stave Throne & Simple Drinking Horn, T3 & T1 Berserker, can both be equipped at the same time). Both their effects, if valid, will take effect. More on this in the next section.

Read the description of Augs very carefully.
  • As a general rule, all wieldable items that aren’t clothes are considered Tools.
  • Hammers & Rods are not considered 1-handed nor 2-handed.
  • Climbing Picks are neither 1-handed nor 2-handed. They are also not considered ‘Picks’.
Stats for nerds
Aug boosts are additive, not multiplicative. The added percentages will only ever work off the Base Stat, and nothing else.

For those without an elementary grasp of Mathematics, the calculation is Base stat+ (% of base stat) + (% of base stat)... as necessary.

For those with a more certain grasp; Base Damage x 1.Y, where Y is the sum of all percentages applicable.

I will demonstrate using the Mystic Maul, which has a default Melee Damage of 608.

With only the T1 Berserker Aug, the final damage is calculated as 608 + (2% of 608 = 12.16) = 620.2 (rounded up).

Alternatively, 608 x 1.02 = 620.2.

With only the T3 Berserker Aug, the final damage is calculated as 608 + (6% of 608 = 36.48) = 644.5 (rounded up).

Alternatively, 608 x 1.06 = 644.5.

With both T1 & T3 Berserker equipped, the Final damage is calculated as 608 + 12.16 + 36.48 = 656.6 (rounded down).

Alternatively, 608 x 1.08 = 656.6.

The same goes for adding more components - the additional percentages and/or stats are simply added onto the final calculation. Here, the final calculation is simply 608 + 12.16 + 36.48 + 36.48 = 693.1 (rounded down).

Alternatively, 608 x 1.14 = 693.1

An Interesting exception occurs here with regards to percentages.

Crit Damage is usually a multiplier, as such.

Some tools, like Mauls, cannot crit, and have no crit damage multiplier.

In this scenario, the percentage from Crit Damage is literally added on as a percentage. It doesn't seem to do anything as yet, but with the right materials you could stack this to a very high number.
