Both meet the medic and old gmod videos are silly. The level of silliness is wastly different however. Just like with release and moden TF2. And besides, lo-fi longwave might not fit every class, but it's perfectly fine for engie, since it's just a hardhat with additional attachment.

you can call whatever you want slop. TF2 is a silly game and not old COD games. i could call your radio tower hard hat slop since it's pointless and doesn't fit with the game yet i don't because having that item is part of the game's history. TF2 is a silly game. end of story.

They are not on the same level. Bird heads are individual for each class, have unique voice lines and, most importantly, halloween restricted. Head prize is just soulless, blatant furry item. And there is a big difference between beta/release type of humor and the absurdity we got to over the years. There is nothing wrong with hats on principle. Most hats from 2009-2010 fit the game both visually and thematically.

the Head Prize one a bit scummy. there were many animal hats way before that. even bird heads. but i feel like those are beloved by the community even though they are on the same level when it comes to breaking the art style. and by the way the game presented itself in the Beta and before Brotherhood of Arms 2 the game didn't want to take itself seriously at all. the beta art style was mimicking old propaganda poster in WW2 and for TF2 it got brighter colors. if we really want to keep the art style then remove all items from the game and only allow Stock and unlockable weapons and also remember most of the reskins and festive items.

I specifically showed max and buds as the first stage of degradation, since they don't fit the game thematically. It has nothing to do with community's involvment, since the first pack of community created items was added before them and added many iconic and fiting hats. I do agree that paints create issues with the artstyle, but you don't need to paint cozy catchers or head prize lime or pink, for them to look out of place.

i'm not buying that last part. the image shows a default Heavy without any cosmetics. by when there was no Workshop nor Mann Co. store. afterwards with the Engineer mostly Valve made cosmetics are shown, mostly promotional. and from the Scout to Pyro shows the "degredation of the art style" since the community stepped in. what i see is that the art style never changed, only the Community made cosmetics changed up the color schemes. but even so when Valve added the Paint Buckets it was doomed from the start. you even painted Max's servered head Team Spirit Blue. in my perspective it's the colors which are the main issues which conflicts with the art style itself. if there were a few types of colors then there wouldn't be any issues in my opinion.

When people were fed up with slop in 2021, they started talking about it more. And guess what, amount of shit items both in workshop and in cases decreased, since workshoppers, that make items only for money (who sadly hold a monopoly in the workshop), saw increased quality standarts. And this picture is not complaning. It's a factual statement, showcasing stages of degradation of this game's artsyle.
