Intro
What is this:

This mod is a modification of DrChat's FromDustHook [github.com] which adds the ability to select a custom FPS, as well as fixes simulation speed.

Every FPS mod except this one will break the game in some way in regards to the water physics / simulation.
I've found the variable for the simulation speed and now the game can run at 60FPS with proper simulation physics.

I've also included in this my script to skip cutscenes which this guy just straight up yoinked from me with no credit, shame on you.

Download here[github.com]

Instructions
1. Put fps_settings.txt into the root folder.
Set your FPS in the file. Top number is FPS, bottom number is simulation rate.
I've found the best sim rate is your fps+5 (so 60 65, 120 125, etc).
A simrate lower than the FPS can cause the water to be a bit buggy.
2. Put XAPOFX1_5.dll in the root folder of From Dust, (same location as From_Dust.exe)
3. Put startup.txt into the root folder

-If you want to skip Cutscenes, follow below-

4. Drag and drop BinPC in the root folder so it merges with the BinPC folder that already exists.
5. Go into BinPC/videoPatch and run videoSkipPatch.bat
6. Done!
Comments
Yes the water will seem a bit faster, the water feels slower since it is chugging at 30fps, but when increased to 60 I think it's playable though as its not too much faster.

Previous FPS mods would just leave the water completely broken

If you increase to 120fps+ it may feel too fast, but its up to you.

If anyone ends up also reverse engineering the game and figures out another smooth way to adjust the water speed, please let me know.

For future modders
FPS Cap: 0x008A3104
Simulation rate: 0x0090C488

Also, install this, it skips the ubisoft launcher

Love this old game. Decided to check it out again. Went looking through good topics for fix recommendations. Was not expecting a YouTuber i watched quite a bit a decade ago to be the author.

Thanks for the game assistance and the great memories.

Fantastic. I've finally picked this up after wanting to play it for years. It felt unplayable at 30 fps and this worked a treat!

Thanks for the source code upload! Hopefully the UI gets fixed for higher resolutions as this game gets more deeply understood by the modding community.

@gordonfreeman01 I've updated the link to have the repo include the source now

@Edizilllas01 Try downloading the new file, it may have been a bug. Otherwise, make sure the fps_settings and startup.txt are in the same folder as the .exe

Thanks! I was wondering if you know of any fix for the UI positioning at 4K? Any resolution higher than 1440p causes the UI to be displaced and show up with tiny text which is still usable but not ideal.

Hi, your repo link doesn't contain the source code for your modifications. While the files do seem safe, please upload your changes so they can be inspected.
