One of Ada's early art drawings: there was no red color yet, but there was already a raincoat.
The Ada, which we all know very well, owes its actual birth to screenwriter Noboru Sugimura. The author of several well-known television series rewrote the first version of the script almost entirely, shook up the character roster and created a number of leads for sequels. He explained the rejection of all the characters of the first game quite simply – they lacked motivation for a serious plot, since their only task in the original Resident Evil (which Sugimura, by the way, loved very much) was to escape from Spencer's estate and save their lives. Such a poor texture should not be surprising – Shinji Mikami's team initially consisted only of programmers and designers. It was only in the middle of the work that screenwriter Kenichi Iwao joined them, who had to invent a story for a ready-made general concept.

Nobora Sugimura
Speaking of Sugimura. After Resident Evil 2, he remained a publishing partner and worked on various Capcom games. Sugimura put a lot of effort into the sequels of The Resident and made plans for the further development of the series, but, unfortunately, he passed away very early. On February 27, 2005, he died suddenly at the age of 56.

Almost nothing is known about who Ada Wong was before 1998, when the T-virus was leaked to Raccoon City. She has neither an exact date of birth (presumably 1974), nor a pronounced racial affiliation. She is given a European appearance, as in Resident Evil 6, or an Asian one, as in the remake of Resident Evil 2. There is also no confirmation that "Ada Wong" is her real name. By the way, Noboru Sugimura created the character with an eye on the image of the famous Nikita from Luc Besson's 1990 drama of the same name. Another proof of this is the screen saver of Ada's script in Resident Evil 4, copied from the movie poster.
Ada attracts not only with her mysterious story, but also with her expressive appearance. However, perhaps the most important thing that fans of the heroine pay attention to is her voice. Actress Sally Cahill helped create a complete image of a spy and a seductress, whose rather low (even with a slight hoarseness) timbre turned out to be the most important touch to the portrait of the "dream girl" of an entire generation of gamers. Unfortunately, Sally is no longer working with Capcom, but her business is being successfully continued by Courtenay Taylor, one of the most sought-after voice actresses in the world of video games (more than eighty projects since 2002).

Ada Wong's clothes are always red, which is a reference to the 1979 gangster film drama The Lady in Red. Our heroine dresses, frankly, according to fashion, not according to circumstances. Her gorgeous evening dress from Resident Evil 4 is recognized as the most impractical outfit for an agent on a combat mission. Indeed, one can only wonder how she even manages to run in it through the village mud, and even on stilettos. The cloak from the remake of Resident Evil 2 has its own curious backstory. Capcom suddenly realized that a secret agent by profession should not attract attention to himself, but avoid it whenever possible.
