Hello from La Roche-Derrien! I truly apologize for not writing you sooner, but there's just so much to see, and the French countryside is lovely. I'm convinced France has the absolute best cheese in the world!

Still in Northern France... I'd be lying if I told you it wasn't because of the cheese. The view in this postcard might not be much, but I must tell you - I think I'm onto something. I've heard some of the locals talk about a gorgeous hidden fountain in the area. My French is a little rusty, but rumour has it the water has rejuvenating properties. Perhaps if you see me soon I may be an infant, ha ha!

I took a boat around the coast, and will be stuck here on this island for a few days before my next stop. Despite appearances, this is actually a lovely, if quaint, little island village. I think I'll enjoy my time here.

I've spent another week investigating the history of that fountain... I don't know if it's the language barrier, or something else, but the locals seem exceedingly unwilling to talk about it. In any case, it's time to move on. I only wish you were still here. You always were much better at getting people to open up.

After seeing a circus performer do a knife-swallowing trick, Seaman John Cummings began actually swallowing knives. On the first of three occasions, he swallowed 4 knives and quickly passed 3 with no ill-health.

On the second occasion, John Cummings swallowed 14 knives and after a few days with abdominal pain he passed all of them. On the third occasion, he swallowed 20 knives and a case, but after a few days he had only passed the case. After around four years of pain, he FINALLY died.
