How to get inside the game IRL
De către Cradle Star
You just can't get enough of this, and lowkey wish it was more VR? Delve into this guide to "get a little bit closer" to Mita, using a few tools, and stuff you might have lying around in your home.

What we're trying to do
This aim of this guide is to turn Miside into a faux-VR game. Of course, considering it was designed with a sort of virtual reality concept in mind (Plot-wise, for the most part, as you'll be entering Mita's virtual reality) it wasn't really designed as a VR game.

However, considering the first person POV, and the small animations that make up the core of the game, and the untapped potential that the upcoming Peaceful Mode (and with the help of modders, of course), you'd perhaps be interested in getting a bit closer to the game.

Anyway, let's get into it.
What do you need to do it
In order to be able to walk inside Mita's dimension, we'd need a few things, both in the hardware and software departments:
  • An Android-based Smartphone. Snapdragon processor preferred. Don't really know which, though. You'd want to have some RAM of course, at least 4gb. You can possibly do this with an iOS device, but I don't know how, sorry.
  • A PC running Microsoft Windows 10 or 11. It should fulfill Miside's requirements, and have a little more hardware to spare.
  • Your copy of Miside.
  • A copy of Riftcat (for PC) and Vridge (for Android). You can find that on the Steam store, or you can ask a "Russian trucker" for help on finding it.
  • A Google Cardboard VR Lens. I'll leave a link to the schematics to make your own, in case you don't have it. It doesn't really need to be Google Cardboard, you can actually use any kind of VR lens that allows for the insertion of an Smartphone inside of it.

Of course, this here guide is aimed towards the purposes of enjoyment of the common man. If you already have a proper VR system, you might use that instead haha.
How we're gonna do it
So, the setting up is pretty straightforward:
  • Install Miside
  • Install Riftcat on your PC
  • Install VRidge on your Smartphone

After doing that, you'd want to open Riftcat on your PC, via Steam or via some other means.

You'll see this screen:

You'd want to open VRidge on your phone, and then you'll see this screen there:

If both the phone and the PC are in the same network, the first screen should either show the model of your phone, and ask you if you want to connect. You'd want to click "Yes" or "Connect" or whatever variation of that.

You'll see this screen after:

You'll choose "GAMEWARP". Do not use SteamVR. No explanation needed, no need to download Steam VR either. Unless of course, you mean to use Steam VR to play other games.
Extra configs
So, now that you got Riftcat running, you'll need to do a few configs in order to actually play Miside. I suggest you copy my configs from the following screenshots:

In "Basic", you'd want to enable GameWarp Input. Keep in mind to do CTRL + Shift + G in order for
it to actually track the inputs. Enable this after you're done setting up the other configs.

And then, you'd want to run Miside. You'll also want to make it so Miside is on fullscreen. Once you see the game in your phone, you can shut down your monitor (if you want).

It is at this time that you'll slid your phone into either the Google Cardboard you've made:

Or into your ghetto-ass VR Box:

And then you can play. If you've set up Gamewarp Input and disabled both controllers as I've shown you in the first screenshot in this section, you'll be able to use Mouse, Keyboard and your head to play, as you'll be able to look around by moving your head.

This is a screenshot of how it looks, though of course, it looks better on your own VR lenses.

And that's all my friends, feel free to play around to your hearts content. Be careful with your phone's heat though, some models can only sustain this kind of experience for 1 hour or so at the most, and of course, I have a phone that works just like that. My S21 FE has broken any hope I've had of ever being forever together with Sleepy Mita, my beloved.
