To play KF MOD you need to have Unreal Tournament 2004. It doesnt matter if you got this on steam, gog or pirated it elsewhere.

Im not providing any links for UT2004 for legal reasons.

First time doing this? You will need winrar to extract the files:

You might need to update Unreal Tournament 2004 to the newest version if you pirated it or use a disc.

Install the patch over your current UT2004 instance and verify that you are running version 3369 before proceeding with the next steps.

Note: Everything you download in this guide will need winrar to extract the files. Please keep this in mind. The free version is enough. You do NOT need the paid version.

After you downloaded UT2004 and opend the folder it should look like this picture. Extract the files by rightclicking if you have winrar installed!
Now download the KFmod version 2.52 because its the only mod with online servers available.

Now insert the KFMod20 folder into the UT2004 folder.
It should look like this:


You can skip the two steps if you only wanna play solo.

Click on "System" inside your KFMod20 folder.


Now find the KFMod20 file.


Click on the file and open it as a text document. Under [Engine.Engine] you should find

Delete it and replace it with

If you done it right it should look exactly like the picture below!


We are using openspy servers because they still support Unreal Tournament 2004 and KFmod 2.52!

I would recommend to put your UT2004 folder on your desktop. It makes it easier to find it.

Open the UT2004 folder and go to the KFMod20 folder.


You can decide if you wanna open the exe or bat file.

Click on SERVERS


After that click on the REFRESH button down right.


Congrats! You can finally play on online servers & invite other players!

Perks

The game has 5 perks. No Firebug or Demolition.
Upgrades from the Supporter.

The Medic, Support, Sharpshooter, Commando & Berserker.

To unlock these perks you have to play with the perks weapons.
*I am not fully aware how many heals, kills etc. you need. Only that you have to kill zeds with their certain perk weapons. As Sharpshooter you can still unlock Support if you kill Zeds with a shotgun or handcannon.* 1-2 matches should be enough to unlock one perk. It works playing on solo as well. Bots can be healed to get the Medic perk.

What to do to unlock your perk

As Support you have to kill Zeds either with the two shotguns, handcannons or the law.
As Medic you have to heal other teammates and *yourself to earn healpoints.
As Sharpshooter you have to kill Zeds either with your crossbow or lever action rifle.
As Berserker you have to kill Zeds either with your knife, broken pipe or axe.
As Commando you have to kill Zeds either with your flamethrower, Bullpup or your *double 9mm.

*Might be not accurate information.

Small tips:

The Support can carry a LAW and a shotgun.
The Medic does not get any weapon benefits so I would recommend the lever action rifle and bullpup to kill enemies from near and further away.
The Berserker gets less dmg overall & extra dmg reduction from bloats.
You have to HOLD reload for the shotgun and the lever action rifle.

Most gameplay elements are similar from KF1 so healing teammates only uses 50% of your syringe but yourself 100%.
Most guns are similar as well with the backup ammo.
Using your knife is still the fastest way to travers.

Controlls

Before you play I recommend to check the settings.


You dont need mouse smoothing or reduce lag. It makes me aim worse if I have both turned on but its up to you.

Bot support


Turn the bot settings off so you can add bots to your solo games! You can find it by clicking create game in the main menu. After starting a match you can add bots on the right side.


You can add, remove or clear all bots. Note: It will make spawn more zeds!

Keybinds


Recommended changes:

Grenade throwing = G
Perk Menu = V
Dropping guns = backwards button
Team Say = Y
Say = T

With TAB you can see yours and other stats like money, HP etc.
M is using your mircophone.
F4 switches the game to thirdperson.
Funfact: With J, K or L you can use taunts only visible in thirdperson.
Right click is your alt fire like scoping in or your stronger knife attack.

With the KF Mod 2.52 Map Pack you are able to play with more maps in singleplayer. It adds circa 80 different maps made by the KF community. Some of the maps also appear in the retail version of KF1. I have played at least 20 of them and they were pretty well designed for the most part. I do recommend this if you wanna play KFmod.

Insert the MiA_KFMP_v1 folder into the KFMod20 folder and you are done!
Warning: There might be chances of crashing in some maps like crash (haha) specially if you play with bots and high graphic settings.
