This mod allows for automatic and complete protection of land & sea trade routes

This only applies to human players

All melee units have a new promotion - Trade Escort, unlocked after the first promotion e.g boarding party I

If a unit has this promotion, and is NOT fortified/sleeping/alert/healing, then it will join with trade units

A trade route with an escort can't be plundered and all other player units will be pushed out of the way of the trade unit

Escort units may only be used again after the trade route has ended, or if it's path is blocked by territory or cities. They can only enter open borders and can't go into other player cities, unless it's an allied city state

Compatibility
Works with mods that add trade units. May cause conflicts with unit stacking mods

fair fair. I just figured I'd mention it after playing a lot of Mount and Blade warband and seeing trade caravans have paid protection so I figured it might be a neat concept if you ever wanted to try it where it's a weaker then normal defence unit of the caravan but it's allowed to be in city state borders and if you want more protection then a regular unit would protect it but not be allowed in city states borders for being more powerful.

Just an idea, but I love your mod the way it is regardless :)

I also play with other mods like Quick turns and Promotions - expansion pack
Maybe it is a compatibility issue. No worries. Great mod anyway.

@Northern Grace This is intentional, as you can move military units into city state territory regardless. If you don't want the trespassing penalty then become friends with them or don't put an escort on that trade route.

Yes. It had no moves or other options, only delete unit..It still had the promotion.
When the trade route was finished I put cargo ship on hold to repair the escort ship, but I could not move or repair it. Then another cargo ship came by and pick up that escort ship.
Later I could exit the formation normally and repair the ship.
I`ll let you know if it will happen again.

@echo Can you explain further... does it have no moves? How did it exit the convoy? Does it still have automated promotion?

Nice mod, but I ran on a problem, where a ship that was in escort becomes unresponsive after it exits the escort.

Any chance for an additonal mod to this one with trade caravan protection units that scale with the era? It's probably a bug with other mods I have but the unit on the trade convoy will enter into the city state and cause eternal hatred XD Figured if there was a unit it could have a promotion to allow entering city state borders without angering them so that way it makes this mod able to be used in mod conflict situations without needing to patch the main mod, or something like that I don't know anything about scripting XD just an idea

@Northern Grace Yeah I thought about giving the promotion from the caravansary, but i want to let players chose which units to use tor trade routes

@Northern Grace Appreciate it, it does work on cargo ships btw, the promotion is also on melee ships
