Introduction and General Tips
Tips
  • Take your time.
  • Tales are attritional; even lowly opponents can cost you dearly.
  • Each panel in the Sanctum has a ‘?’ guide.
  • Trust in the Dead Gods.
  • There are many game mechanics, but it is not necessary to utilize them all.
  • Play the game your way.
For your first playthrough, we recommend playing the Campaign introduction, which includes a tutorial which will help you learn the game’s mechanics. Once you are familiar with the game’s mechanics, you can enter Fate’s Mirror, which has highly replayable roguelite scenarios to challenge your skills, called Shards.

Sanctum Overview
This is your Sanctum. You must keep an eye on your primary and secondary resources as you develop your Cult.

Cultist Management
Your Sanctum contains 4 rooms which are critical to your success. You choose how to devote your resources to renovating these rooms, and which rooms to assign your Cultists to work. Your Cultists are your main workforce. For more information on each room, check the room’s info panel that is marked with a ‘?’.

Tales and Roguelite Gameplay
Once you are satisfied with the state of your Sanctum, you must end the day by journeying on a Tale. Tales are a roguelite experience where the Prophet journeys to the city to gather additional resources for the Cult.

Dungeons
In the Dungeons, you can freely explore the events you find in each level, however there is a risk of a combat encounter for each event. Once you find the Dungeon Key, you can proceed to the next level of the Dungeons, where the rewards are greater but the enemies are far more dangerous, or you can return to the Sanctum with your spoils.

Old Town
In Old Town, the Prophet travels through the roads and paths of the district until reaching the region exit, where you can choose to have him travel to the next region (with greater rewards and more dangerous enemies), or have him return to the Sanctum with your spoils.

Combat Mechanics
Combat in Tales is turn-based. You can use special abilities, called Gifts, which cost Sanity, to gain a tactical advantage. Keep an eye on your Sanity; if it reaches 0, you will find that you take significantly more damage. Of course, the same is true for your opponents.

Quests
Quests are interactive cinematics. Interactable objects will glow periodically, and will react when moused over. Quests are campaign only.

Gods Ascension and Mechanics
There are many ways to Ascend the Gods. Gods Ascension interacts with all game mechanics in various ways.

Once you unlock the altar in the main are, you can access the gods favor/rating screen.
Ask about "Gods Ascension and Mechanics" section.

How do you open that screen ?
