Today I'm checking out a new indie game called IDUN — it looks like an acronym, but as far as I can tell, IDUN doesn't stand for anything, the developer just wanted to capitalize it like that.

IDUN gameplay focuses on quick, swarm-survival scenarios where you must complete a core objective and any bonus objectives before you're overrun. And it's not a matter of IF you'll be overwhelmed, but it's a matter of WHEN. You must focus on getting your objectives completed as soon as possible or you'll be starting over because your base was overrun or you failed to protect another type of objective.

One gameplay aspect of IDUN that I liked was that the game is broken apart into micro missions. If you fail (and you will) you're not wasting 10, 15, 20 minutes of your time having to start all over again. So far, the longest mission has taken around 5 mins, with most wrapping up in under 3 minutes.

However, the voice acting in this game is awful. Easily the worst part of IDUN. It's worth noting that on the Steam Store page, there is a disclaimer that the developer used AI text-to-speech audio, so I'm guessing that's why it's so bad. It really made the game feel cheap. Knowing AI generation was used makes sense, but I'm not going to be less forgiving simply because the developer took a shortcut. Quality is king.
