FAQ
What is cheating?
- Using third party software to change gameplay so that you win or gain an advantage.

When will LB devs include anti-cheat and reporting features?
- LB devs are working on anti-cheat and reporting features.

What is clear evidence of cheating?
- Lobby crashes when a cheater is called a liar (this should already be fixed in LB 0.92)

- A cheater plays out of turn

- Player is auto-kicked at bid by lobby host running anti-cheat mod (usually only the lobby host knows for sure)

What is not clear evidence of cheating?
- Gun fires bullet, but target is still alive, whether or not the host leaves the lobby. Reported as a BUG, requested as a feature with selectable frequency.

- Taunting or intimidating other players through voice chat. If you're getting offended, mute your speakers, keep your cool, and get revenge by outplaying them.

- Teaming up with other players. While this is bad behavior, no third party software is involved. Just find another table or if you're the host, boot bad actors from the lobby after the game ends.

- A player manages to call you a Liar every time you play the wrong card for the table. Good players don't need a cheat mod to do this. They can pick up on your tells and analyze your patterns.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
  • Avoid Matchmaking.
  • If you think you see cheating, leave and join a different lobby.
  • Use Steam client on Windows to manually record your games and report cheaters.
  • If you plan to host lobbies, install the anti-cheat mod for Liar's Bar on Windows.
  • Join/Host a private lobby with players you know. (dev suggested workaround).

WHAT NOT TO DO
  • Don't install or use cheat code.
  • Don't post usernames in the Discussion group. Valve discussion guidelines specifically forbid posting usernames of cheaters in Discussion groups.
  • Don't post videos in the Discussion group. This can show usernames and lead to reprisals.
  • Don't lose your temper. Cheaters feel they have to win so badly that they break the rules to do so. They are stealing your win, why let them also steal your cool?

ANTI-CHEAT MOD
Tyzeron created an anti-cheat mod, available here:
https://www.nexusmods.com/liarsbar/mods/1

NOTE: For this mod to be effective, you have to be a lobby host.

RECORDING WITH STEAM
1. Set Steam client to record manually
2. Begin recording in the lobby before the game to capture the full hostname of each player
3. Before the next time you start playing, review the recordings from your previous play session
4. Did you really see what you thought you saw?
5. Is what happened a bug or a cheat? If you are convinced you saw a bug or expected LB behavior, stop here.
6. Use Steam client to export the video
7. Upload to youtube as an Unlisted video
8. Review the video as a youtube video to make sure you have the right recording
9. Record timestamps of when events happen in the video.
10. Proceed down to the Reporting section, below.

To set Steam client to Record Manually
1. In Steam client, click Steam> Settings

2. On the Settings dialog box, on the left pane, click Game Recording
3. On the right pane, click Record manually

To start recording within a Steam game (not your entire desktop), click CTRL+F11
NOTE: Laptop users beware! ALT+F11 toggles Airplane Mode, which interrupts your internet

To stop recording, click CTRL+F11

To export a video from Steam client
1. On your profile, click Screenshots
2. Click Upload Screenshots
3. click on the video
4. In the bottom right corner, click share
5. click Export video file...

REPORTING WITH STEAM
Until the Liar's Bar dev team complete the Reporting and Anti-Cheat features, they have asked for reports of cheating users to go through Report User button on the cheater's Steam profile.

To find the correct username
1. Review the video you recorded, where the lobby shows the full usernames of each player in the game and when the win is awarded.
2. If the game was a DICE game, the full Steam username also appears on the middle of the table when a player drinks poison.

To find and report the Steam user profile
1. On your own profile, click Friends. Click Add a Friend.
2. Under "Or try searching for your friend", type the name of the user
3. If you have multiple hits, check each profile's Games and/or Recent Activity
4. Unless you are sure you have found the right profile, stop here. Reporting the wrong user only wastes time for the VAC team, and reduces your own credibility. A false report also damages the reputation of the falsely accused.
5. On the profile, click Report User and fill out the form. Be sure to include a link to the Unlisted youtube video and the list of timestamps for when things occurred.

Because competition on Asia servers among cheaters is too high, a lot of china cheters moved to eu or us servers. But you can dodge playing with them. Developer not only did zero thing about fixing cheater's problem, but alos did zero to fix existing bugs. So ther is a bug when someone leaves lobby before the game starts, the game will never start (it will hang on "waiting for players" forefever).
So here is your antichieat guide: notice to china cheaters in lobby with names like "141214123423" or "[][][][][][][][]". Just quit that lobby. Everyone loses 50 points including them
