"Whelp looks like I am about to be banned for making one post on this forum...

But since I am here posting this let's take a look at why censorship of valid criticism is ineffective:

1. Selective censorship actually reveals weaknesses: When entities whether be they corporate or government censor valid criticism, it often highlights the very issues they're trying to hide. This is demonstrated in the Chinese case, where research shows that **censorship isn't primarily aimed at suppressing government criticism** - because doing so would be counterproductive.

2. Psychological backlash: When people's valid criticisms are censored, it tends to strengthen their resolve and opposition. Research shows that this is particularly true when people feel strongly about their positions - they become more likely to resist and find ways around censorship.

3. Ineffectiveness in modern context: In today's interconnected world, China, despite being ranked **187th out of 197 countries in press freedom**, still cannot effectively suppress all criticism of its government.

The evidence suggests that censoring valid criticism often backfires because it:
- Validates the criticism by showing fear of it
- Creates more interest in the censored content
- Motivates people to find alternative ways to share information
- Damages the credibility of the censoring authority

@ClassB For sure, I'll check their forum pages and see what's up. had not heard they were doing something similar. But perhaps it's time to test the waters there as well. :albionskull:

Lol yeah tbh I was not at all concerned about Dragon Age, many good people got the same treatment and well, look where that got them lol? Hope they enjoy job hunting!

@Ted well I just got banned from the CIV 7 Forum (already banned with Dragon Age: The Veilguard as well), at this point I just call this a badge of honor 🎖️¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm just going to keep calling this as I see it and if I get banned from every forum well....

So be it!

Yeah I know bro, honestly I didn't really care about Dragon Age Veilguard but I thought I would report it anyway since it seemed pretty off to instantly perma-ban someone with zero warning. But yeah, Valve don't care even if the evidence is right there. Sad but true

@Ted unfortunately all you can do is in these cases is document and report, I suggest you do the same when you can. It's always nice to increase awareness on issues like this one as much as possible. Even though they can take down forum posts at least something linked to your profile (or a personal website) makes it at least more difficult for them to suppress. Thanks for commenting!

Unfortunately you cant win with these things, as Valve will almost always side with them either way. I got perma banned from Dragon Age Veilguard discussions without a warning and with no reason given and Valve told me they can moderate their discussions how they want to lol. So yeah... they don't even have to give you a valid reason to ban you these days.
