This guide may be outdated as I have stopped playing the game. I do occasionally come back and fix things that become outdated when it's brought to my attention, so if you know something is incorrect, please let me know so I can fix it
Early Game
This section is slightly outdated. Ore locations now appear to be randomized, so please skip past the parts about ore locations unless you're playing an older version of the game. I am only keeping them in for that purpose along with preservation purposes.

This section is mostly for early game, but makes enough money that it's good for mid-late game as well, however it becomes much less efficient once you have 50k coppers.

Firstly, the best way to make money early-game is to never buy ores or coal. You can get every ore, coal, and even alloys for free by mining in Nurenor Pass. You can find Nurenor Pass by immediately turning left after leaving your shop and entering the doorway with two guards.

Nurenor Pass

Once you enter the pass, you will immediately see your cart. Throwing any ores you mine into the chest in the cart will add the ores to your shop's inventory. Once you grab your cart, the very first mining spot you will find will be coal. This spot looks different from the others, as it is just large boulders that you mine bits and pieces off of to get to the coal. You can use a shovel to pick up the coal and put it in your chest.

Coal Location

If you continue, the road will split into three different directions. To the left, which is downhill, you will find Gold, Khanka, Loha, and Moraka. If you go straight, you can mine Silver, Cila, Serath, and Guarila. To the right, which is uphill, the road will split off into two different areas again. Once at the top of the hill, you can continue forward for Copper, Tamra, and Suvarna. If you turn around, there is a path that leads to Iron, Rai, and Yudhira.

First split

Second split

I'm sure that you can guess that if you follow this guide, you will mostly be going to the left to get gold, moraka, and loha, as those are the most profitable ores.

Once you have all of your ores, you will want to head back to the shop and start designing a weapon. I have already taken the time to design a weapon that will net you the most in the shortest amount of time, so I would suggest copying mine, but you can change whatever you'd like to customize your experience. Again, this design is for making money, which means creating the most profitable weapons in the shortest amount of time.

The weapon that I created is a heavy weapon. For the blade, you will use the Halberd blade. It should automatically populate the guard, but you will change it to guard 3. For the pommel, you will want pommel 0. Then, you can use however many handle segments you want. I prefer to use 3 so it uses the least amount of wood. I also cut it off at 9cm instead of 12 as this minimizes wood usage even further.

Pommel: Pommel 0
Handle: 3 X 0
Guard: Guard 3
Blade: Halberd

This weapon requires almost exactly 2 gold ores, with only 0.01L left in the smelting bucket. It is best to save the leftover amount for weapons you will make later. Also, it takes about 2 minutes to make one of these weapons. Once the blade is fully made and quenched, you can sell it for any amount you'd like. I prefer to set it to 30% chance to sell at 9700, but you can change it to whatever you prefer. I highly suggest experimenting with prices to find a sweet spot you like.

The best thing to do, as boring as it might be, is to make at least six of these, wait for them to sell, and then go onto the mid-game section.
Mid Game
As a heads up, although this section is labeled Mid Game, it is very possible to do this early game, but it will be difficult and is not recommended.

If you are either early-game but comfortable with big risks, or if you are mid-game, this section is the best way to make money with zero effort whatsoever. You will want an absolute minimum of 25,000 coppers, but that will be a massive risk. I suggest having between 40k-60k. If you want no risk at all, you can do this at 100k, but that will be overkill.

You will want to go to Latia Royal Arena and speak to Dienor, who is standing behind the table as soon as you walk in.
Latia Royal Arena

Dienor

Tell him you want to watch/join the arena, and choose to watch the Gold Tournament. When it prompts if you want to join, say Yes. Once the arena loads, you will immediately be prompted to bet on a team. I suggest just betting 5,000 on Team 0, as after 200 fights, Team 0 had a W/L Ratio of 0.63 with 77 wins and 123 losses. This sounds like a lot of losses, but remember that you will be making 25,000 per win. Just keep playing and you will come out with more than you went in with.

You will want to hold right click to speed up time, but you really don't have to. But it will be painfully slow if you don't.

If you really want, you can just create a macro with Actiona and it can do all the work for you, but where's the fun in that? (Trust me, there is none.)

Once you have 140k-240k, you should buy one or two warrior slaves from Khumaran. If you have gotten far enough to travel to the Hill, you can also just spend 100 points for a warrior slave and you can skip the Mid-Game method all together, and move onto the next method

Khumaran
Late Game
This method is pretty straight forward. Once you have one or two slaves (Or even three, if you want to be extra cautious), you will want to equip them with good weapons and armor. If you are on good terms with Nada, you can just buy from her. If you are not on good terms with her, you will have to start with no armor and just get armor from putting your slaves in the arena, As for the weapons, there is an amazing guide for making the best Arena weapon here:
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3400965632

Once you have your slaves geared up, you can buy attack dummies from Dienor. You will want to train your slaves until they are anywhere from level 20 to level 50 attack.

When they are your desired level, you will want to join the copper tournament. You will get 500k after beating all the enemy teams, so this is very lucrative if your slaves don't die often, which they usually won't with that weapon. If you're like me and don't like risk or just want to cheese the system, you can save before every fight so if your slaves die you can just reload your save. On the last fight, you may want to use your lowest-level slave so you don't have to continuously retrain slaves. When you win the whole tournament, you will want to spent 400k on new slaves and get them ready like last time.

This time, you will join the silver tournament, and when you win, you will buy 5+ slaves, gear them up, train them, and send them to the gold tournament. Truthfully, you will probably only ever need to win the gold tournament once to be set for quite a while, but you can do it as many times as you'd like.

After all this, you will be a millionaire and can completely neglect being a real blacksmith! Truthfully, if you are playing the game to be a blacksmith (which if you're not, then ???), then I don't exactly suggest doing this unless you just don't want the stress of grinding money for Griana constantly and just want to focus on the story. In which case, this method is great. But it does still take some of the fun out of the game

Thank you for reading and good luck!

ore mining changed as of v1.6.0.
sales are also different (especially if you have 'picky customers' on)
rep costs for skills were changed as well (but could've been before 1.6.0)

mining is very tedious though, even with automining skill.

i found buying copper ore is a good way to get started early game (has a faster process speed than iron). can churn out a bunch of daggers/short swords/1h swords etc fairly fast. (copper being 25c /ore and gets a return of around 10x that at 50% sale; assuming quenched + sharpened)
^ good way to make some quick rep as well

also, math is incorrect -> Team 0 in your tested example actually has a win ratio of 0.385: 77 wins out of 200 (77/200 = 0.385)

Btw, the trident on 30% with the best options makes about 30k (one piece)

"To prevent repetitive money-making strategies, we've also changed how Nurenor Pass mines work. Ore locations are no longer fixed—every time you enter the mining area, the ore spawns will shift. High-value ores are now rarer, making the mining economy more dynamic and challenging."

It came with the full release

I’ll test it out to double check and update this guide. Does anyone know what version changed where ore drops?

Ore drop seems to be random and not fixed

Thank you Arch, I didn’t know that the % chance also scales on the wrap, nor did I know that handles can increase the value of a weapon so much. Thank you!
Arch 2 Feb @ 11:15pm
Just wana add, buy a handle wrap worth 2,000 or more. Go for the most expensive one if you can. Then, use full sticks and the most expensive wrap to boost your profits a little more. Remember that the % chance boost scales on the handle and wrap too.

It's about 300 base profit for a Snow Tree or Ebony Tree handle with Black Branthian Skin, plus the Sell bonus at about 30% chance is about 420-450 extra profit. You'd need to sell 11 or 12 of these to pay for the 5,000 wrap, but the rest is directly in your pocket.
