The ultimate guide for impossible mode
By Thales
This guide is for players who are interested in finishing the game in impossible mode. It's actually easier than it seems and with the right strategy it's possible to finish it in less than 9 hours.

INTRODUCTION
I will save you some time and cut straight to the point. I'll divide this guide into topics and i'll comment each one of them separately:

-What is the impossible mode?
-Saving system
-Ressources
-Weapons
-Enemies
-Key areas

The first couple of chapters will be easier but as you progress through the game things will be getting harder and harder... around chapter 5 is when things start to get complicated, so you wanna stay focused as much as you can and avoid distractions. The key is focus, memorize your objectives and go straight for them, don’t go running around the map trying to get every loot in the game, if you stay in a room for too long enemies will start spawning in the room and you can get overrun and waste unecessary ammo so keep moving the entire time, focus on your primary ojectives and do not waste your time trying to go for secondary missions... they are not mandatory for completing the game, primary objetives only.

I strongly advice that you play the game in hard mode first before going into impossible, that way you’ll be more prepared and you can play more safely. The amount of damage that Isaac can take and ememy agression is the same for both hardcore and impossible so that’s why you should play hardcore first, that way you can study enemy behaviour and come up with strategies for specific levels.
WHAT IS IMPOSSIBLE MODE?
Impossible Mode is essentially Hardcore Mode with additional restrictions, offering the ultimate survival-horror challenge. It's based on the Hard difficulty setting but with unique twists that significantly raise the stakes. Impossible Mode is the most challenging difficulty setting in the game. It offers a brutal survival experience designed for highly skilled players who are familiar with the mechanics and are seeking a serious test of their abilities. Completing Impossible Mode unlocks the Untouchable Trophy/Achievement. You also receive the unique Burnished Suit (with a special red-tinted design) and the Hand Cannon (a foam finger weapon that acts as a joke reward but is incredibly powerful).

  • Enemies are way more aggressive and faster, which means you have to improve your reflexes and always expect to run out of ammo constantly.
  • Ressources are very scarce and you get often frustrated for always getting credits instead of ammo and health.
  • You have to deal with way more damage from enemy attacks than usual and you get cornered very easily if you don't pay attention to your surroundings.
  • Stasis and kinessis are your best friends here, you can use stasis to slow down enemy attacks and give you a couple more seconds to analyze the situation and try to avoid wasting ammo and taking damage. You can also use it to dodge enemies and avoid fighting which is the best way to deal with some situations. I'm pretty sure it goes without saying if you're an old timer Dead Space fan but the best way to conserve ammo is by using kinesis to throw stuff at enemies and the best thing about is that it doesn't even have to be a pointing object, you can literally throw anything at the necromorphs to slow them down or even rip off a limb. Of course if you wanna kill them fastter you'll have to use blades or pipes.

I strongly recommend playing the game in hardcore mode at first in order to memorize it's patterns and prepare for impossible mode. If you don't wanna do that, than it should be a little harder playing impossible mode but nothing you can't deal with.

SAVE SYSTEM
Well, we got to a point that raises lots of questions between the players and i'll try to explain it the best way i can. Surelly if you take a look on impossible mode ingame you'll see three big differences:
  • No auto-saves
  • One life
  • Only one save slot

What does that mean?
Well, first of all there is no auto-save... only in chapter 1 when you get off the Kellion so you don't have to watch the initial opening scene all over again and that's it.. no more auto-saves beyond this point. This means that you have to count only with the save stations around the game. We'll get to that in the next section.

One save slot?
Yes, you only have one slot but don't freak out just yet. Having only one slot means that you can only save your game in one slot. Players won't often know what that means and will think that you can only save your game once. Not true, you can save your game as much as you want ... the only thing you CANNOT do here is die.

One life?
Yes, you have only one life in impossible mode but don't freak out, we'll get to that right now.
When you start the game in impossible mode you literally have only one chance to finish, if you die by any means (smashed by doors, ripped appart by necromorphs, lagging or whatever), you will have to start all over again.

How does that work?
When you die in impossible mode, your game is automatically reversed back to hard mode. You can keep playing from where you died but only in hard mode. If you wan't to keep playing in impossible mode you'll have to go back to the main menu and start the game all over again from impossible mode and that's it.

Can i do something about it?
Well, sometimes you can!
Most deaths have a death cam, which means the game will stop the gameplay in order to show you your own death in some animated cutscene and that is actually good for you cuz you can pause the game right before you actually die, go back to the main menu and load your previous save but BE AWARE, some deaths don't even have a death cam, you just die...like when you get smashed by a door or if your health is too low and some enemy impales you from behind, so you wanna be cautious. Always carry health items in your inventory and if you get hit, restore your health immediately, don't ever walk around with your health low....that will increase the chances of a permanent death.

Take pauses.
It is very important that you take pauses every 40 minutes or 1 hour. Have a glass of water or a cup of coffee. That is actually good for your brain, that way you can take some time to breath and relax, use that time to come up with new plans and strategies for your gameplay. Like i said in the previous section, you can save as many times as you want and you can also step out of the game as many times as you want.

Use your brain to memorize patterns
Patterns in survival horror games refer to recurring gameplay mechanics, themes, and design elements that define the genre and evoke fear, tension, and engagement. These patterns serve to immerse players in a threatening environment while challenging their problem-solving and resource-management skills. Behind each pain in the @ss there will always be a pattern, if you can understand the pattern and use it for your leverage you can actually get through a choke point quite easilly.

RESOURCES
Resources are very scarce in impossible mode, you want to conserve as many ammo and health as you can and in order to do that you'll have to play safe.

Ammo
As we mentioned, ammo is very scarce and you'll have to use it in moderation. BUT there are a couple of tips to help get more ammo.

  • Golden tip #1:
When you carry a weapon in your inventory without equipping it (Without putting the weapon in quick shortcut), you can actually get more ammo. So if you carry the plasma cutter along with the line gun but equipping only the plasma cutter, you'll get more ammo for the line gun. Honestly i don't know why but that's been like this since dead space 2008. So with that said, you can actually control the ammount of ammo which the game will provide for you for each weapon using this tip.

  • Golden tip #2:
The plasma cutter is one of the strongest and fastest weapons in this game so i would recommend investing your nodes into the plasma cutter for impossible mode, that way you can get way more ammo and focus your upgrades only in one weapon. Also the ammo is very cheap in the store... only 1,200 credits, which means that if you upgrade the plasma cutter to it's max you'll have a powerful weapon in your hands with easy access to ammo.

Combat
Avoid using your guns unless you have to. Yes, only use your guns in situations where you have to do it to avoid taking damage, for the most parts of the game you can actually kill the enemies using only the environment. For the most part of chapter 1 you will have to use the plasma cutter, there is no way around that since you won't have the kinessis just yet... when you get the kinessis module in chapter 2 then the fun beggins.
Most levels have pipes, metal fans, pointing objects, boxes and stasis rechargers around the map so you wanna use that for your advantage.

  • Golden tip #3:
Whenever some random enemy spawns, 80% of the time it will come from the air vents. When the air vent breaks, the metal fan falls down to the ground and you can actually pick up this fan using kinessis and throw back at the necromorph. Aim for the legs and once he's in the ground crawling, pick up the fan again and finish him off. BE AWARE that in some situations the fan will break when you hit an enemy with it for the first time so if that happens you can't use it again...just shot the remaining limbs with the plasma cutter and you should kill a enemy with less than 5 rounds of ammo.

You can also shot the vents to drop the fan and use it to throw at the enemies. There are tons and tons of air vents around the game so is actually a pretty cool strategy to conserve ammo.

  • Golden tip #4:
You DONT have to fight every single enemy in the game, just run by them and move to the next area. You can use stasis to slow them down and just run for it, but be careful while doing that...you can easily get lost and go back to the same area you were in and get cornered. If you gonna do that, always check your map so you'll know where you going.

Health

It is very easy to run out of medkits in this game. You just keep using quick heal and before you notice your inventory is empty.. so in order to avoid that you wanna always memorize how much health items you have in your inventory. Make a mental list of how much you have, that way if you get too low you'll know that you have to back to the item box and get more.

Stasis packs

Always keep your stasis fully loaded or half loaded. Trust me, in most combat situations you WILL be using stasis and if you get there empty handed that could be the difference between dying or getting through the area. Always keep 2 stasis packs in your inventory and just like the medkits, make a mental list of how much you have and when you need to get more.

Credits and nodes

The ammount of credits and nodes are not affected by the difficulty. That means you'll get the same amount of credits and nodes playing in impossible mode.
WEAPONS
Plasma Cutter
It might seems weird but the plasma cutter is the most OP weapon in this game and here is why:

  • High damage
  • High firerate
  • High ammo capacity
  • Cheap ammo

  • The damage won't spread like the pulse rifle or the line gun, it's very foccused on the area you're shooting.. so if you upgrade your damage to LV4 is enough to make a lot of damage on enemies.
  • Fire damage if you upgrade to total damage
  • Faster reload time

You can easily finish the game using only the plasma cutter, but in order to do that you'll have to keep in mind the previous tips in this guide. This is not mandatory of course, you can use as many weapons as you want according to your gameplay style, this is just a tip for those who want to play the game with more precision and accuracy.

Force Gun
The force gun is amazing if you want to quickly get out of a fight or just get through an area without a fight. Use it for this porpuse, also the secondary fire is great to slow down enemies if you don't have stasis. it creates a magnetic field that pulls enemies into it and incaps them for at least 3 seconds. Further upgrade the secondary fire to achieve greater results.

Flamethrower
This weapon is great for spreading damage in smaller enemies and slow down incoming attacks. The secondary fire is great for keeping enemies away by creating a wall of fire.

Pulse Rifle
Honestly this rifle is cr@p if you're playing impossible mode. It is low damage, long reload and bad secondary fire so is not worth it to take it with you, probably just gonna end up out of ammo pilled up in the inventory.

Line gun
The line gun can be good if you upgrade the damage points, but overall is not such a good call for impossible mode due to it's extremely low firerate, high rack dispersion and weird sticky bomb traps. Again, it can be a extremely OP weapon if you upgrade the damage, keep that in mind if you plan on using it.

Ripper
Probably the second best weapon in this game. If you manage to draw all the necromorphs inside of an area and use your stasis module to slow them down, you can use the ripper to deal a huge amount of damage with just one saw, conserving most of your ammo. So yeah, the ripper is a very good choice for playing impossible mode. The secondary fire is bad though, it's a waste of ammo and low damage so don't use it, primary fire only.

Contact Beam
Another case of bad choices for impossible mode. This weapon is not terrible but also is not good. First of all the damage is ridiculous, you literally waste an entire clip of ammo trying to kill some random enemy, you can't even slow down the enemies like the flamethrower... they just keep charging at you even though you're dealling damage with the beam. BUT not everything is so terrible like i mentioned, the secondary fire is devastating against all types of enemies. If you manage to upgrade the damage points and the secondary fire you'll literally have a handcannon in your hands.

Choosing your weapons carefully is very important, that way you can center your upgrades and don't waste any nods. Here's what we can resume for your gameplay:

  • Plasma Cutter: Fast and portable weapon with high firerate and decent reload time. Probably the only weapon worth upgrading to max level, best choice for impossible.

  • Pulse riflle: terrible damage, bad firerate and bad reload time. I don't recommend using the pulse rifle for impossible mode and definitely doesn't worth spending nodes on it as well.

  • Force gun: good weapon for it's purpuse: push enemies away. Worth upgrading damage and secondary fire.

  • Line gun: bad weapon at first due to it's low firerate, slow reload and expensive ammo clips. Can be worth upgrading the damage and secondary fire but in gerenal not a good choice for impossible mode.

  • Flamethrower: definitely worth carring it with you and combining it with stasis attacks can be a very good combo. Worth upgrading the whole weapon.

  • Ripper: best secondary weapon to carry along with the plasma cutter. Can deal devastating amounts of damage into all kinds of enemies combining with the stasis.

  • Contact beam: terrible weapon and only secondary fire is worth it. Definitely not worth spending nodes on it.

ENEMIES
Here we're gonna talk about enemy weaknesses and which weapon is better for dealing with each one of them.

Legend:
We will categorize enemies by size, weakness and spawn cicle (how many times the enemy will spawn in the game).

Size small: smaller enemies like lurkers and swarmers
Size average: average sized enemies like slasher
Size big: bigger and taller enemies like the guardian and brute

1. Slasher (common necromorph)
The most common Necromorph, recognized by its elongated arms ending in sharp blades.

Size: average
Weakness: limbs (arms and legs)
Spawn cicle: very high

2. Leaper
A swift adversary with a serpentine lower body and a barbed tail. Use stasis to slow it down and target its arms and tail.

Size: average
Weakness: limbs (arms and legs)
Spawn cicle: very high

3. Lurker
Infant-like creatures with three tentacles that shoot projectiles. Focus on severing these tentacles to incapacitate them. You can also burn it to death with the flamethrower.

Size: small
Weakness: limbs (tentacles) // fire
Spawn cicle: very high

4. Spitter
Similar to Slashers but capable of expelling acidic projectiles from a distance. Destroy its head to prevent spitting, then remove its limbs.

Size: average
Weakness: head and upper limbs
Spawn cicle: medium

5. Pregnant
Bulky Necromorphs with a distended abdomen containing Swarmers. Avoid shooting the stomach; instead, dismember the limbs to prevent releasing the Swarmers. If you're carring a flamethrower, burn him until is dead, swarmers won't come out if you use fire damage.

Size: average
Weakness: limbs // flre
Spawn cicle: medium

6. Swarmers
Small, insect-like creatures that attack in groups. Use stasis and the flamethrower or explosives to eliminate multiple Swarmers simultaneously.

Size: small
Weakness: stasis // fire // explosives
Spawn cicle: medium

7. Exploder
Carries a glowing, explosive sac on its arm. Target this sac from a safe distance to detonate and eliminate the threat.

Size: average
Weakness: glowing yellow sac
Spawn cicle: medium
ENEMIES - Part II
8. Divider
Dividers are tall, thin Necromorphs with the unique ability to break apart into smaller creatures. Its limbs can move on their own and attach to Isaac so be careful dealing with this enemy.

Size: average
Weakness: stasis // fire
Spawn cicle: low

9. Twicher
Fast-moving Necromorphs first appearing inside the Valor; with erratic movements due to a malfunctioning stasis module. Cast stasis to slow them, then aim for the limbs.

Size: average
Weakness: limbs
Spawn cicle: none from chapters 1 to 8 and high from chapters 9 to 12

10. Brute
Large, heavily armored foes with vulnerable yellow sacs on their backs. Use stasis to immobilize them, then attack these weak points.

Size: big
Weakness: stasis
Spawn cicle: low

11. Guardian
Stationary entities attached to walls, spawning Pods to attack. Use stasis to slow pod production and dismember the tentacles protruding from its body.

Size: big
Weakness: stasis // limbs // line gun
Spawn cicle: low

12. Infector
Flying creature that transforms dead bodies into necromorphs. Prevent him from transforming near bodies with the stasis and shoot the wings. You can finish him off with a stomp if the stasis is still active. You can also burn him to death with the flamethrower.

Size: small
Weakness: stasis // wings // fire
Spawn cicle: low
KEY AREAS - Part I
Key areas are in-game events that can be a little tricky to get around them. Essentially you can die very easilly and have to start all over again, so you wanna be prepared for these areas.

Key area #1: Centrifuge reset (chapter 3)
Stay sharp during this area, basically you’ll have to connect the claws to the centrifuge and once you do that, a whole in the floor will open and you’ll enter vaccum. Then you’ll have to go down in the elevator and run across the centrifuge moving claws. This part is very tricky because you can die in the blink of an eye, so be VERY patient and wait for a chance to move. Memorize the patterns and move carefully, if you get hit by the moving claws is over, it’s an insta death. You’ll have oxygen tanks in the second half but keep an eye on your oxygen levels all the time. Just in case take one oxygen tank with you. There is a save station right before you enter this area, save your game and take your time... if you feel like you’re gonna die just pause the game, go back to the main menu and reload your save. I know it can be frustrating but it is better than dying and losing your entire progress.

Key area #2: asteroid field (chapter 4)
For this part you’ll have to go outside the ishimura and manually target the ADS cannons. Here you can also die very easilly from enemy attacks, run out of air or simply get hit by a asteroid, so you wanna be very careful. Upgrade your suit for AIR points, watch your oxygen levels and try to calculate how many seconds does it take for you to target the cannons. There are oxygen tanks in the left and right side of the ship so always check your oxygen levels so you don’t die from asphyxiation.

Key area #3: The hunter (chapter 5)
During chapter 5 you’ll come across your first encounter with the hunter. When he breaks out of the tank, shot his legs and wait for Isaac to contact Kendra to open the doors, once the door is open freeze the hunter with the stasis and run a couple of rooms to lose him. Is actually pretty easy if you know where to go. The hunter does NOT follow you into other rooms unless you leave the door open, also if you take too long inside of a room he can pop out of the cealling so move fast and always check your gps. Don’t let him get too close to you or you can die very easilly, the hunter can do a lot of damage and his attacks are way faster than the average necros.

Key area #4: Inject the wheezers (chapter 6)
This section is not really that hard but it is very long and full of enemies. Basically you have to inject the toxin into the wheezers before fighting the leviathan. Like i said this chapter is very long and it can be a little exhausting so save your game whenever you have the chance, the wheezers are usually located all the way to the end inside of a room so when you come accross to one, simply inject the toxin. They won’t attack you so you can do it quite fast. Save your game frequently and take pauses to clear your head.

Key area #5: Leviathan boss fight (chapter 6)
Again we have one of those situations where your anxiety can take over and get you killed. This boss fight is actually not that hard and you can do it simply using the plasma cutter. Get as much ammo and health as you can before the fight, the ammo for the plasma cutter is a lot cheaper than other weapons so you can buy a lot of it. There is a save station right before you enter the food storage, so save your game before going in. As soon as you enter the food storage the lights will be out and you’ll only trigger fight if you move foward, instead stay by the door and look for tiny blue dots, those are crates of loot and you get a lot of ammo and credits from those crates. Just make sure you get everything before defeating the leviathan or the floor will open and you’ll lose everything. Once you get the loot, get the fuel tanks out of the way, they can do a lot of damage to Isaac during the fight. Trigger the fight by moving foward and you keep your distance. The strategy here is to deal as much damage as you can in every opportunity, once you trigger the fight stay still and for the leviathan to attack with the tentacles, once he does that you simply the dodge the attack moving in the opposite direction and shoot the yellow weak spot at the base of the tentacle, do that a couple of times and the leviathan’s mouth will open giving the opporunity to deal damage, for this part you wanna use the plasma cutter due to it’s high damage and firerate. Shoot as much as you can and do not throw the fuel tanks, they won’t do much damage and probably waste your window of opportunity. Keep doing that until the leviathan is dead and that’s pretty much it. The leviathan will be close to die once he floods the air with toxin, once he do that you’ll have a limited time to kill him before you run out of air, the key here is upgrade your suit for AIR points, trust me that will help you in lots of other situations. If you get close to die for lack of air, ammo or health simply go to the main menu and reload your previous save, do not risk your entire playthrough trying to rush this part. Take your time and you will be alright.

Also the leviathan has a hit kill attack, whenever he loads his tentacle and aim at you do everything in your power to dodge, don't get near him and avoid every single hit from the tentacles.

Key area #6: Laser traps (chapter 7)
I’m not sure if those lasers are hit kill, i’ve never wanted to prove that theory myself so i always avoid them. It goes without saying to be extremely careful going through this part, it often happens to be all quiet and all of the sudden enemies start to spawn from all corners and you’ll be forced to reposition. Avoid the lasers with the crates.

KEY AREAS - Part II
Key area #7: Filtration tubes (chapter 7)

Around chapter 7 you'll have to go through 3 corridors with filtration tubes malfunctioning, these tubes will be spitting fire towards the corridor so you'll have to extremely careful cause if you get caught by the fire you'll be instantly killed. There are some cases where you don't die right away but it's kinda random so be careful.

Each tube will take approximately 10-15 seconds of pause before spitting the fire again, so what you wanna do here is shoot the locks on the doors before getting inside the next corridor. It is very important that you time your steps or you can get stuck and die. When you pass the 2nd corridor enemies will spawn behind you, now this is a distraction in order to get you killed, as you focus on shooting the enemies the tubes will be spitting fire again and you be in the way and get killed, so don't even try shooting down the enemies while on the corridor, just slow them down with your stasis and run to the elevator.

Key area #8: Restoring gravity (chapter 7)
Before planting the SOS beacon you'll have to clear some rocks from the mining deck in order to restore gravity. As soon as you enter the room, kill all the enemies and take all the loot, after that you wanna equip you flamethrower and line gun, place some traps around the platform and once you restore the gravity enemies will storm the room from all directions. The key here is move around, if you stay in one position you'll get overrun so keep moving and use your stasis to slow down the attacks. Try to keep the enemies in front of you the whole time and always look behind you for surprise attacks.

There will be tons of exploders in this part, exercise extra careful when dealing with exploders, they might seem slow but they are actually pretty fast and they will do a lot of damage to Isaac even with full health. If you see one of them charging at you, slow them down with the stasis and and kill them immediately.

Key area #9: Planting the beacon (chapter 7)
This part is actually not that bad as it originally was in Dead Space 2008, those who played it know what i'm talking about. Anyway, here you'll have to disable the gravity tethers and plant the beacon in the asteroid outside of the ship. The first thing you wanna do here is disable the tethers inside the ship, after that you'll have to go outside and disable the remaining tethers.

What you're gonna do here is simply position yourself on the top right side of the asteroid, wait until you have a clear passage and push foward. Be extremelly careful with the blades, if they simply touch you, you're dead. Save your game before going into this area and don't panic, simply memorize the blades pattern and you'll be fine.

Key area #10: 2nd Hunter attack (chapter 7)
After planting the beacon in the asteroind you'll have to go back inside the control room and launch it. After you do that the door will close and the room will enter quarantine mode, you'll be trapped inside and the hunter will come for a 2nd round. As soon as he spawns shoot his legs and wait for Kendra to open the doors, again do not waste ammo trying to shoot his other limbs, he won't die and you'll waste a lot of ammo. Just keep shooting his legs and slowing him down with the stasis until the door is open, other enemies will spawn in the room as well so use the force gun to keep them away from Isaac, after that just run for it and you'll be alright.

KEY AREAS - Part III
Key area #11: 2nd Leviathan boss battle (chapter 8)
After reconnecting the antenas and Kendra gets in touch with the Valor, Isaac will go outside the ship again to kill the leviathan for good. This time you'll need to use the ADS cannons to pierce the hard part of the leviathan's body and reveal the weak spots. Again, we have been talking about upgrading the AIR points on your suit during this entire guide, by this chapter you should already have pretty much of your suit upgraded, if you don't then this fight is gonna be a lot harder cause you'll have to go after the oxygen tanks constantly. So if you wanna make this fight a lot easier don't forget to upgrade the AIR points on your suit.

Once you're outside the ship go straight for the ADS cannons, you'll only be able to hit the leviathan once you reveal the weak spots. There are 3 cannons in total, one for each weakspot, the leviathan will destroy each cannon after you destroy the week spot so move fast, hit and run. There will be oxygen tanks in each corner of the area and at the main door, memorize where each one of them are so you won't run out of air...keep an eye on your oxygen levels the entire time. This fight is relatively easy, the key here is use the plasma cutter or your strongest and fastest weapon to deal damage to the weak spots, you will use the ADS cannon only to pierce the exterior layer of the skin, once the weak spot is revealed use your weapon of choice to deal damage in a faster and more effective way. The ADS cannon has a low rate of fire and the leviathan will be throwing explosive balls at you the entire time so you wanna move fast and deal the most ammount of damage as you can. In order for this strategy to work you'll need a gun that has a high firerate and high level of damage, if you have your plasma cutter upgraded it can be a good choice.

Key area #12 - USM Valor (chapter 9)

This entire session inside the Valor is pretty tricky on impossible, the enemies are very fast and the objectives are harder than usual. There will be enemies coming at you the entire time and you need to conserve your ammo carefuly.

In this chapter you're gonna have to deal with the mutaded crew of the Valor, the majority of them are soldiers that have transformed still wearing the suits, the transformation mixed with the stasis module so these creatures are extremely faster than usual necromorphs, they can charge at you in a matter of seconds after spawning and you can take a lot of damage and get killed. Whenever you see one of them, shoot the stasis module located in the chest to slow them down and then cut the limbs to finish it off.

Eventually you'll get to this room where the nuke is located, be extra careful here cause if anything blows in the room you'll be killed instantly. There will some exploders here, DO NOT SHOOT THE YELLOW GLOW IN THE ARMS or the nuke will trigger and explode the entire ship, simply slow them down using the stasis and shoot the other limbs avoiding the yellow glowing area. After that simply shoot the fuses in the wall and the nuke will be sealed and you'll be ready to go.
After Hammond is dead and Isaac gets the singularity core the ship will begin the countdown to explode, just run for it and the that's pretty much it for this chapter.

Key area #13: 3rd Hunter attack (chapter 10)
After Mercer kills Jacob Temple in chapter 10, the hunter will come after Isaac again. After he breaks the glass, shoot his legs and drop him to the ground, slow him down with the stasis and go left through the broken glass. Turn left after the glass passage and just above a desk with a computer there will be one of those yellow glowing balls, shoot it and double back through the broken glass passage and enter the door in front of you. You can get through this area very easily without losing health, just keep calm and remember that the hunter doesn't die when you shoot him.

Key area #14: Killing the hunter (chapter 10)
After loading the marker to the escape ship, Mercer will send the hunter after Isaac again but this time you're gonna have to kill him. That's actually pretty easy, all you have to do is position the hunter in front of the engine and fire the shuttle. Once the hunter comes after you, go to the back part of the ship, there will be a lot of enemies as well so clear them all and focus on the hunter. Make him follow you to the back of the suttle and once you get him in position, shoot his legs and arms and when he starts regenerating hit him with the stasis and run to the control room in the opposite side of the marker to fire the engines. After that the hunter will die and that's it for chapter 10.
KEY AREAS - Part IV
Key area #15: Transporting the marker (chapter 11)

This is, perhaps, the hardest part of the game in impossible mode. You'll have to transport the maker through the cargo bay and the place will be swarmed with enemies. The key here is prepare yourself for a big fight, take extra ammo with you, extra health packs and stasis packs. The flamethrower, ripper and line gun are good companions here, you can place a lot of traps around the place to slow down incoming enemies, use the flamethrower to kill pregnants and swarmers. The tricky thing about this part is to run out of ammo and health kits, it happens very fast and you won't even notice so take as many resources with you as you can and stay sharp, enemies will come from all directions and you could get easily overrun.

Final key area: The hive mind (chapter 12)

And here we are, the final part of the game where you'll have to kill the hive mind and this boss fight is actually quite easy. The key here is memorize the attacks patterns and simply hit and run. The tentacle attacks are easy to avoid, just wait until he moves the tentacle to strike and move to the opposite direction. The acid attack is pretty easy to avoid as well, simply move around and don't get hit. The tricky part is when he grabs Isaac upside down, you'll have to shoot the weak spot while the hive mind is moving a lot, you can use the contact beam to hit a continuous hit.
KEY AREAS: BONUS

Key area #: tentacle encounters
During the game there are some parts where a tentacle comes out of the wall and grabs Isaac by the foot and starts dragging him towards the hole. Those encounters are actually pretty annoying and can die very easily by simply missing the target or run out of ammo and die anyway, it just comes out of nowhere and you’ll have a small window of opportunity to free yourself before dying. Here is a list of every encounter, though everytime you see a hole in the wall be careful.

1. Chapter 3: Course Correction

Location: Maintenance Bay (Engineering Deck)
Details: This is the first tentacle encounter. As you progress through the Maintenance Bay, a massive Necromorph tentacle grabs Isaac by the leg and begins dragging him through the corridor.

Objective:
Use your Plasma Cutter or another weapon to aim and fire at the glowing yellow weak spot on the tentacle. Precision is crucial, as the tentacle will kill Isaac if it drags him too far.

2. Chapter 6: Environmental Hazard

Details: While navigating the Hydroponics Deck, another tentacle ambushes Isaac. This encounter is similar to the first one but may feel more intense due to tighter quarters and faster movement.

Objective:
The strategy remains the same: aim for the glowing weak spot to sever the tentacle before you're dragged to your death.

3. Chapter 10: End of Days

Location: Crew Deck
Details: The final tentacle encounter occurs here after killing the hunter, the tentacle will burst through the ship floor and grab the marker along with Mercer.

Objective: As Isaac gets dragged to the bottom of the ship, shoot the yellow glow to free yourself. Don't die, if you do you're gonna have to kill the hunter and deal with the enemies all over again so double focus here.

FINAL THOUGHTS AND CONCLUSION
Control your anxiety and keep it cool

I know it can be a little scary but if you play calmly and focused, anything is possible. This guide is entirely for your convenience, feel free to play in your own play style. As i mentioned before, take pauses if you're feeling tired, that can help a lot for long runs. Take your time and don't rush things, the key here is patience.

Know the choke points
I have separated all choke points by classification and mission order for your convenience. Take some time to read this section and come up with strategies, also feel free to follow my own.

Choke points in the Dead Space remake are areas or locations where enemies funnel toward the player, creating concentrated and intense combat scenarios. These spots are strategically significant because they allow players to manage enemies more efficiently but can also lead to overwhelming situations if not handled properly. Below are examples and tips for dealing with choke points in the game:

Common Choke Points:

Corridors and Hallways

Description: Narrow pathways where enemies approach from one or both ends.
Example: Hallways in the USG Ishimura, such as the Maintenance Bay or Medical Deck.
Strategy: Use weapons with wide arcs, like the Plasma Cutter or Line Gun, to dismember multiple enemies. Deploy stasis to control groups and prevent being overrun.

Elevators and Doors

Description: Tight spaces where enemies can swarm once doors open or as you wait for an elevator.
Example: Waiting for the tram to arrive or elevators in the Mining Deck.
Strategy: Place Proximity Mines from the Pulse Rifle or Force Gun blasts near entry points to deal with surprise waves.

Vents and Room Entrances

Description: Areas with multiple vent openings or entrances, allowing Necromorphs to ambush.
Example: Engine Room or Hydroponics Labs.
Strategy: Use Environmental Hazards (explosive canisters, fuel tanks) to create chokepoint traps. Keep moving to avoid being cornered.

Control Room Defense Scenarios

Description: Sections where Isaac needs to activate systems or protect areas from waves of Necromorphs.
Example: ADS Cannon Repair sequence or refueling engines.
Strategy: Fortify positions with traps (e.g., line gun mines) and prioritize ranged enemies like Lurkers or Infectors.

Catwalks and Bridges

Description: Open areas with limited movement options and exposed positions.
Example: The Bridge Deck and Zero-G sections with limited footing.
Strategy: Use long-range weapons like the Pulse Rifle to pick off enemies approaching from afar. Stasis is essential for crowd control in tight spaces.

Resource management
As mentioned before the resources are scarce on impossible mode, so you wanna manage them the best way you can. Avoid using your guns the entire time, prioritize enviroment kills and always check your inventory.

UPGRADE YOUR SUIT!
Is it very important that you upgrade your suit whenever you can. Prioritize health and air points, i usually use the 2+3 strategy which consists on spending 3 nodes per upgrade on your suit and 2 nodes on your weapons. Confused? okay... i'll explain that better. Save your nodes until you have at least 5 of them, find a bench and simply upgrade your suit 3 times and your guns 2 times. Do that until you have nothing else to upgrade on your suit, then you can focus on your weapons. Prioritize damage upgrades for your weapons, everything else is secondary.

Last but not least
Stay focused, don't rush trying to finish the game faster or you can die and have to start everything all over again. This mode is not that hard and you can beat it on your first try, all you have to do is play safe and avoid putting yourself in a position where you can risk everything. I hope this guide helps you with your journey and thank your for reading all the way till here!

--- Extremely easy & stress free method ---
Don't even bother shooting the 2 exploder necros in the nuke room.
There are three poles in this room close to the entrance door.
It instant kills them with 0 risk involved. :TECheart:
