Introduction
I'll keep things brief here. I've had my Steam Deck since 2023 and only now started modding games on it. The Steam Deck is my only means to play PC games at all as I cannot afford a PC at the time of creating this. This is all I have. Resident Evil 6 was the first game I successfully modded. I'm going to break down what I did step-by-step to assist other people out who might want to mod their experience.

Before we delve into the guide. I highly suggest moving your game download of Resident Evil 6 to a microSD card. It will make file navigation a lot easier.
1. Desktop Mode
Skip this portion if you're already familiar with getting to Desktop Mode.

Press the "STEAM" button on the left side of your Steam Deck. Navigate down to Power. Select Power and then select Switch to Desktop.

Congrats! You are now on Desktop Mode. Here's what mine looks like as of writing this guide, but yours will look different.

Navigate to the taskbar at the bottom and click on the bag icon. This is Discover and the equivalent of an app store. Download the app of your choosing for web browsing purposes. My choice was Google Chrome. Once you have a web browser, you're ready to go!
2. Fluffy Mod Manager
In order to get everything started with modding on Resident Evil 6, first you must download Fluffy Manager 5000. This is a mod manager that makes adding and removing mods non-destructive. This is useful as you don't want to constantly have to boot up desktop mode to drag and drop mods into your game's directory.

This is the official link for Fluffy Mod Manager.[www.fluffyquack.com]

Upon downloading, you'll want to create a folder on your Desktop to extract the contents of the manager inside.

This is what the extracted file should look like (with the exception of the green .rar file, we'll get to that later).
3. Add to Steam
Now, launch Steam through Desktop Mode and add "Modmanager.exe" to your library as a non-Steam game. You can do this by right clicking the .exe and selecting Add to Steam. You can choose to rename this .exe file prior to adding and launching it. I renamed mine to "FluffyModManager.exe".

I also took the liberty of finding some artwork off of steamgriddb which is why mine might look different from yours.

Hit the gear icon and click on properties. Now click on Compatibility. Now tick the box next to "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool". Scroll down the list and select "Proton Experimental".

Now the manager won't launch. What's next?
4. ProtonUp-Qt
In order to get the Fluffy Manager 5000 to launch properly through Steam, first you'll have to download an experimental branch of Proton.

Navigate to the Discover page on your taskbar and search up "ProtonUp-Qt".

Download and launch this software. Upon download it should look like this:

Now, you won't have the GE-Proton yet. Select "LegacyRuntime" and then hit "Add version". You should get this window.

Make sure it's the most up-to-date version and hit install. Upon installation, you should be back at this interface.

Highlight the GE-Proton branch you just installed and click show game list. Scroll down to the bottom or until you find the mod manager. Click compatibility tool and select the GE-Proton branch you installed. Now close. You're done with this section.

5. Mod Manager Set Up
Now you should be able to successfully launch the mod manager. Upon launching, you should be greeted with a screen asking which game you are trying to modify. Scroll down this list until you see Resident Evil 6.

Upon selecting it, you'll be prompted into a tab that wants you to find the game's install folder. Navigate your directory until you find it. If you followed my advice earlier in the guide regarding installation, this should be easier.

The install path in my case was as follows:
My Computer > (select the microSD drive) > steamapps > common > Resident Evil 6

Upon selection, the mod manager will do it's thing and connect. Now you have free reign to download the mods you want.
6. Modding
Before you get to downloading all those precious mods you've had bookmarked for awhile, you'll need to install the "Model Swap Patch and Ultimate Shader" mod. This will fix any issues that might arise when downloading mods for any of the characters. From personal experience I've found that without this patch, it's impossible to use any mod for Sherry without it giving you a black screen or completely crashing your game.

It should be a 1.1gb file download. Extract that file into the game's file directory and replace all.

Now you should be free to download any mod!

When it comes to downloading your mods now, you're gonna want to make sure you extract the mod's contents inside of the RE6 folder inside of your mod manager folder.

In my case the path goes as follows:
Desktop > Fluffy Mod Manager > Games > RE6

In order for these mods to appear properly, make sure the mods contents follow the correct pathways to be detected by the mod manager

As an example for a reskin mod:
Made in Heaven Jacket - Leon (USA) > nativePC > arc > DX9 > (all the mod files will be here)

I HIGHLY recommend downloading the RE6 Imput Text Removal[www.nexusmods.com]mod. This mod removes the text that appears in the middle of your screen during gameplay whenever you might accidentally move the trackpad or touch the screen. This is the best quality of life mod for this game on Steam Deck in my personal opinion. It's a must.
Conclusion
I hope this helps someone else who wants to mod Resident Evil 6, but has never modded on a Steam Deck before. If this helped in any way, please leave a like/favorite/award as a means of gratitude!

Special Thanks

SATX56 for talking me through the issues I had surrounding crashes and black screens and providing me a link for the "Model Swap Patch and Ultimate Shader" mod.

Hippie Jesus for responding to a reply to a 2 year old comment he'd left prior on the Resident Evil - Modding[discord.gg]discord and then proceeding to find a video that might assist me. Although I was too late to see the message, I appreciate him going out of his way to help out!
