Early Game Tips
BEFORE CLEARING THE TUTORIAL
Take all your phantoms and throw them on top of the tree (You will receive a Changebook¹ while doing this) to make a tower of units that you can climb. Once you are at the top start jumping and you will receive a Bottlemail² phantom.

Now head for the tutorial stage that teaches you about lifting and throwing, confine your Bottlemail into the Snakish sword and let the timer run out so that you get the sword once your unit is removed.

Note 1: Do not sell the Changebook, this item is used to reincarnate by giving it to the Healer when a unit dies, BUT we won't care about that until much, much later in the game.

Note 2: Bottlemails have the highest STEAL in the game, so you may want to add this one to your party for the story.

Merchants
When the game begins spend all 500 BOR making Merchants, yes really. Each Merchant costs 30 BOR to create at Spiritual Exp 1 which is good enough. Make sure to summon them to your island by speaking to Marona afterwards.

The reason you may want to do this is that each unit on the island has a chance of returning with goodies after a mission, in the Merchant's case this means BOR. You want around 30 Merchants for most of the main story, this will alleviate the medical fees while also giving you lots of BOR to spare on weapons. Hell, arguably they will never stop being useful since Combo weapons are your main source of Mana in the postgame anyways.

Finally, you want to take them to Failure dungeons to level them up every so often to gain more BOR every time they proc.

This is extra useful if you want to progress without breaking the game's difficulty too much since you can leave the Merchants at home and use your normal units for the story, and Marona herself will become under leveled again soon enough since she has slow exp gains.

Note: Leveling the Healer cheapens the cost of healing, but you may want to use her during the main story naturally anyways, up to you.

Grind
Item Caps
  • 9,999,999 Stats.
  • 200% Equip.
  • 100% Confine.
Failure
The easiest way to get this title is to create a character that has it, then pick it up with Ashe and talk to Marona to banish it.

Fusion
Set the title on the item that will be receiving stats for a massive boost, switch the title out when done.

Dungeons
When set on a dungeon it will make it so no exp is gained from beating monsters but a lot of it is earned when advancing floors instead.
  1. Create a high level dungeon with FEW enemies and NO restrictions
  2. Apply the Failure title.
  3. Once inside confine as many units as possible.
  4. Clear each floor repeating the same steps.
Marona
  1. Give her a vase fused with tons of grass for speed.
The earliest vase can be found in the stage [Shining Earth] at Monetopia during Episode 3.
Dungeons with Main Object Grass are your friends. Specially if you go with an entire party of Bottlemails.
  2. Head to a weak small non-failure dungeon with few enemies and have her clear the floors for "quick" levels.
Do note that a failure dungeon will be suboptimal for Marona specifically, but will definitely be sufficient if you are aiming for a boost during the main story.
Specials
Marona and Phantoms
  • Return and EXP. Riser from Dungeon Monk.
  • Healing Steps from Knight.
  • Mana Monger from Blacksmith.
  • Mana Punch from Fusionist and EX Punch from Dungeon Monk are worth mentioning even if not as useful as they seem.
Phantoms only
  • Quick Attack from Archer.
  • Healing Birth from Mystic.
  • Energy Saver from Soldier.
Bottlemail
Bottlemails have high speed and crazy steal, ideal to take goodies home. Create a dungeon with Main Enemy Weird and kill 20 of them to unlock.

Still need to switch the classes; Healing Birth was from Mystic and Healing Steps was from Knight, but Healing Birth just happens to be useless to Marona.

You've got Healing Birth and Healing Steps backwards.
