Playing Half-Life: Decay in co-op

This is the easiest approach that works with the Anniversary update and doesn't require dedicated server.

Install the mod
  1. Download the latest version of the mod from https://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-decay-v102/downloads. Make sure to download the Full version, not the Patch one.
  2. Unpack the downloaded archive.
  3. Copy decay and decay_hd folders into the Half-Life 1 folder (you can get there by choosing Manage > Browse local files from the game context menu in your Steam library):
  4. If you want to play in French, German, Italian, Russian or Spanish, copy the corresponding directory from the archive, as well.
Get it running
Go to the game properties in your Steam library and add -game decay to the launch options.
Now, when you run Half-Life on Steam, you should see Decay main menu instead of the standard one:
Host a game
  1. Select "Play Decay".
  2. Choose dy_accident1 as your starting map:
  3. Configure your server name and password on the second tab of this window.
Join a game
  1. Select "Find Servers".
  2. Switch to the Internet tab and select the server of your friend:
    You can also use the LAN tab if you're playing in the local network.
  3. Press "Connect".
