How to Create Manual Saves (Jump back a point)
By Tiffing_Bird
This guide shows you how to make external copies of your save file so that if you make a mistake and need to jump back you can.

This process should be able to unlock softlocked games and provide ease of life to everyone else.

This is a Windows Centric Guide, Linux and Macintosh users will have slightly differing file locations and editing tools but the process should be similar.

Thank you to my Dad who helped me figure this out when I accidentally pissed off the element level Doomlord and wanted to jump back a bit.

Finding Your Save File
Finding your save file is relatively easy. all you need to do is open up your file explorer and go to the search bar

then you will want to insert the following text into your search bar

C:\Users\Media\AppData\LocalLow\Torple Dook\Hand of Doom\SaveData

this is the folder where your save data is stored. DO NOT DELETE THIS FOLDER

Your save file should be the only thing in this folder for now and will be listed as a .SAVE
Creating a Backup
Right Click your .SAVE file in the file folder and hit COPY

after you've done that PASTE it back into your file folder and it should appear as a
"HandofDoom - Copy.save "

If it doesn't, just save it under a slightly different name. This shouldn't mess with your game as it is looking for "HandofDoom.save" as opposed to something like "HandofDoom-1.save".

The only valid file name recognized by the game is "HandofDoom.save" and the only recognized file type is a SAVE File.

The .SAVE files are in a text format but the file type will change to Text if you edit in Notepad.

DO NOT USE NOTEPAD IT WILL NOT WORK the game will not recognize Text type files, even if it has the same file name as the .SAVE.

Use Wordpad instead as it will allow you to directly edit the .SAVE file
Restore from Previous Save
To restore from a previous save,

- Delete the "HandofDoom.save" file that you don't need anymore

- DUPLICATE the save file you want to jump back to. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RENAME YOUR SAVE FILE WITHOUT DUPLICATING IT.

- Rename the duplicated save file to "HandofDoom.save" and continue your gameplay.
Recommendations
Save at Checkpoints
- Checkpoints as we all know are the only spots where the game saves. Therefore when you reach a checkpoint you want to save at you need to quit the game and create the backup file.
- This will save all your data UP UNTIL that checkpoint.

Un-Softlocking your game file
- If you've soft locked your game file, creating these backups as you play (before reaching the point of softlock) should work around that.
- This should not lock up your save as you're not actually doing anything to the data itself. It's just copies.

Thank you for reading this, please let me know if there's anything that's unclear for this guide or anything that I should add to the recommendations section. Good luck and Happy Gaming!

I figured it out. Selected the file, right clicked, moused over Open With, and selected WordPad from there

How do you edit the file with wordpad? I have no prior experience with it and I just want to know how to get the ball rolling.
