Reasons
The main reason for this error is, obviosly that your Graphic card doesnt support Vulkan 1.1.
However, a lot of people (including me) got this error, even with a graphic card that should support vulkan 1.1 with ease.
While this may be caused by outdated drivers, wrong NVIDIA / AMD configurations etc.., you may also find none of this problems on your PC/Laptop and still get the error.
If thats the case, Detroit: Become Human is most likely simply not able to use your dedicated grapic card and using the built-in graphic card instead. This is also the reason why most users experiencing this, are using a Gaming Laptop of some sort.
Solutions
In this guide i will only cover fixes, that are caused by the last reason (the game using your built-in grapic card).
Sadly i cant provide details on how to fix this if you arent using a dedicated NVIDIA graphic card, as i have no experience with other systems. If you have solutions for different systems, feel free to comment them.

1. Setting your NVIDIA System Settings
To get Detroit: Become Human to use your dedicated NVIDIA graphic card, you can try the following:
1. Go to NVIDIA Control Panel by either searching for it in your taskbar or by right-clicking on your desktop
2. Next, click on "manage 3D settings"

3. Go to "Program settings"

4. Search for Detroit: Become Human, if it isnt there, you can add it by giving the location of the game file

5. Select "High performance processor"

6. Click "Apply"

A lot of times this fixes your problem, by simply telling the system to use your dedicated graphic card. However i noticed that especially on laptops using a built-in AMD graphic card, this doesnt work.

2. For AMD processors: Changing your System Variables
If you are using an AMD processor, you may try the following:
1. Go to "view advanced system settings"
2. Select "Environment Variables"
3. Click "Add" in "System Variables"
4.Enter:
  • Variable name: DISABLE_LAYER_AMD_SWITCHABLE_GRAPHICS_1
  • Variable value: 1

5. Click Save
By changing this value you essentialy disable a AMD feature designed to switch the used graphic card, for different tasks to make your system more efficient. For some reason, this feature can interfere with the game and prevent it from using your dedicated graphic card. Keep in mind, that this can affect your device performance, as it makes the system less efficient. However, you can always revert this change by deleting the System variable.
