Introduction
There I was, lying in bed at 5am on a Friday, 67 hours into my Planet Coaster achievement slog with even more ahead of me… and I wondered: why doesn’t this 9 year old game have a proper achievement guide on Steam?

It’s 6:30 now. I have my coffee roasted and ready. I'm moisturized and sleep deprived. So let’s go.
Optimizing
If you’re bad at the game like me from 67 hours ago, here are a few nifty bullet points that will start making bank and optimizing your park in no time. Looking at graphs takes a bit of the struggle and wonder out of the experience, but that’s not what you’re here for, is it?

  • Don’t charge entry fees in your parks. Rides are your biggest moneymaker and guests are more willing to spend on them if they don’t have to pay to get in.

  • When placing rides and shops, make sure you cluster them so guests have a shorter walk to their next destination.

  • Keep your ride exits as short as possible and try to make sure they spit guests out near another point of interest, like a few shops or another ride entrance.

  • Pricing your rides correctly and upping the prestige is king here. If you're playing a scenario, pause and close down any existing rides and optimize them like this before starting anything (take out a loan if you need to).

  • For flat rides, you should first make sure you are choosing the right rides - refer to column K on this spreadsheet[http//%5Bhttps] to see which ones will get you the best bang for your buck

Next, you need to spruce up your ride sequence. Use the above spreadsheet for the most optimal ride sequence. Use either the black or the grey rows, whichever is less annoying/gets you more money. The numbers refer to the options on the animation list dropdown.

Next, we’ll need to add a few quick triggered sequences/scenery to bump the prestige a bit. The game mostly just looks for dollar value here, so I just like to use the flamethrowers or the large fountain splash here (keep in mind, some fireworks have a high cost per trigger). Place a few of these around inside the ride area. Scroll down in the sequence tab and hit ‘Make Trigger Sequence’, then go through each animation and highlight your new triggered objects. Not sure if every object needs to be highlighted for every single animation, but I do it just to be safe.

For coasters, the process is pretty similar, you’re just placing the triggered objects around the track instead. I like to add about 4 or 5 points of interest around the track with about 2 objects each.

Finally, you’ll need to pretty up your ride and the ride queue. And by pretty, I mean spam a bunch of those $10 speakers all over the place. I’ll usually place about 10 inside the ride area, then about 20 around the queue.

Now you just need to test your ride and price it. Once the test is run, check the prestige score and refer to this chart[planetcoasterplanningguide.blogspot.com] . Note, these numbers are only relevant if you aren’t charging an entrance fee to your park. I’ll usually price my rides down about $.50 from what the chart says just to be safe. Bring the price down a bit if guests complain.

  • Make sure you plan out your ride queues to fit at least 2 or 3 loads worth of people in there. Don’t make them too long, or guests will start complaining. If you’ve optimized the ride's cost to it’s prestige, you shouldn’t have to worry about full queue lines too much.

  • Since you are pricing everything so high, make sure you have ATMs ready and available (and free to use!)

  • I’ve never gotten Info Booths/Priority Passes to make a good profit. They’re safe and easy to ignore.

  • Workers are very finicky. If you’re achievement hunting, I’d recommend playing with Staff Management Features off whenever you can manage it (found in the game tab of the settings menu). This means you won’t have to manage breaktimes and you won’t have need for staff buildings or employing extra vendors. I usually try to train my staff off cooldown then upping their wage until they’re happy (usually 2 or 3 ticks). Some scenarios have wages start super high for some reason, so keep an eye out for that, and don’t worry about raising their wages when you train them (unless they are becoming unhappy).

  • Optimizing food and facilities pricing is not cool or fun, but if you want to do it, here is a nifty chart courtesy of Infinity. Some shops do better than others, namely Chief Beef and Cosmic Cow Milkshakes. If a shop is too busy, consider putting another shop of a similar type nearby. Location is important, so make sure you are placing these in populated areas (by ride exits/entrances)

  • Put bins EVERYWHERE. The people in this game suck and will litter if there isn’t a bin within a 5 meter radius (not literally, but you get the idea.) This will ease the workload of the janitors.

  • 1 or 2 trained janitors should work for most smaller parks

  • Optional, but in each of my parks I like to go to the far corner of the map, dig an extremely deep hole, put a single spot of path and a light at the bottom and place one of my guests down there as a sacrificial lamb. Doesn’t effect gameplay much, but I feel like it adds an extra bit of spice to my parks.

Settings

There are a few settings I’d recommend you turn off for your achievement climb, namely Staff Management Features and Security Features, found in the game tab of the settings menu. You might as well also Disable Collision while you’re at it to save you some headaches.
Career Achievements
I’d recommend going through the career achievement climb first. These will take up a majority of your time because you’re going to have to get every single star in every single map. Luckily, going through this should pop a decent number of the basic achievements for you.

I’m not going to write you out a full guide for this because greater minds than mine have already done so - I’ll point you towards SQUIGLONKER99’s amazing and comprehensive walk through here.

As a general rule, if you follow my optimization guide above, you should be able to breeze through most of these without too much of a headache. A couple more tips:

  • If there’s a coaster requirement, Steel Vengeance should cover it. It’s available right away in most scenarios for some reason. If not, search the career name in the workshop and someone should have a coaster made already to fulfill everything you need.

  • Don’t worry too much about making things look nice. Ideally these should go by fast, so save your creative energy for Challenge Mode.

Have fun!

These are the achievements that should pop as you climb:

A Star is Born
Doing Your Homework
Investing in People
Princess Amelie’s Fairy Tale
Dex-R’s Science Shenanigans
King Coaster’s Royal Decree
Rising Star
Brightest Star in the Sky
Star Studded Career

As far as I can tell, the Loan Survivor achievement can only pop in the Silversmith Manor scenario.

You might come out at the end without the Brightest Star in the Sky popping. This is a well known bug where it sometimes won't pop if you've already earned a bronze and silver star in a scenario. If this happens, the lovely Bran Dragon has a quick walkthrough to get it to pop in just 10 minutes. Check it out!
Sandbox Achievements
Most non-career achievements are achievable through sandbox mode. However, I’d recommend working towards any of the non-instant ones (like Investing in People, The Ratings Are Through the Roof, Doing your Homework, and Money Spinner) in challenge mode, so you can work towards the challenge achievements at the same time. These are the ones that can be knocked out in sandbox mode.
Coaster Achievements
A good chunk of the achievements in this game are, you guessed it, coaster related! I hate building coasters. Luckily, some generous (and dare I say, gorgeous?) steam users have built some coasters on the workshop that will get us through most of these. You’ll need the funds to make these, so either do it in one of your more established parks in challenge mode or in sandbox mode. You only need to run a successful test of the coaster for it to register, so don’t worry about it making it operational as a ride. You’ll be able to find these under the blueprint tab for coasters.

The first coaster is here.

It should pop all these achievements for you:

Coasting Along
Hang Time
A Head for Heights
Scream if you want to go faster!
Don’t Stop Me Now
Jaw Dropping
Speed Freak
Faster than Lightning
Air Raising
The Ride of Your Life
Air Miles

Sometimes Air Miles has a hard time popping. If it doesn't pop for you, check the airtime count in your testing tab to make sure it hits the proper 15. If it doesn’t grab a few of the smaller bumps on the coaster and try again.

That’s 11 done! Nice work!
Crashing the Party
Create a coaster crash involving 300 guests.

Set up or find a point in your park that has a lot of heavy traffic (usually in front of food stalls) and is somewhat of a straightaway. At one of the ends of the straightaway, build the beginning bits of a coaster, enough to get a good amount of momentum. The hydraulic coasters are good for this. Point the unfinished end bit at the crowd, switch over to testing mode, then let ‘er rip!

If you don’t want to experience the joy of doing this yourself, this workshop setup courtesy of EarfQuake, should pop this one for you.
You’re Fired!
Fire a staff member.

Hire a staff member via the ‘Hire Staff’ tab in the staff tab, click on them and hit the delete button to fire them.
Marketing Mogul
Spend $10,000 on marketing in one month.

Go to the Marketing tab and hit the ‘Start Marketing Campaign’ button. Two TV Commercial campaigns should get you there.
Salt on the Senses
Add the maximum amount of salt to your fries.

Open a Monsieur Frites. Go to the Items for Sale tab and hit the tab down to show the extras on the fries. Hit the check-mark for salt, then change the amount to ‘a lot’.
You’re a Winner!
Win a Go Karts race while driving the kart.

Make a Go-Karts track. There's a blueprint one available, or you can build a basic ring to make it easier on yourself. Rename the ride to ‘Bollard’ - this makes them controllable in first-person mode. Open it up and let guests in, then go into first-person mode in the ride camera. Make sure you set the simulation speed to slow. Try to make sure you’re in the first place spot, you can use the right/left arrow keys if you’re not.

Wait for the light to turn green and go. You can use WASD to control the kart and the middle mouse button to look around. The controls are a bit slippery, and you can’t really go full throttle the whole time because you’ll spin out, so it might take a few attempts. You’re a gamer, you’ve got this!

If all else fails, you can switch your perspective to the front-most car before the race ends, and the achievement should still pop. You can also rename a guest to Andy Chappell, which will increase the karts speed for that guest.
Challenge Mode Achievements
Start up a new challenge mode map (or re-use an old one) and get going! I always recommend playing on easy when achievement hunting.
Investing in People
Train a member of staff to the highest level.

Fairly straightforward, just remember to check back on your chosen staff member every once in a while to catch the training cooldown.
The Ratings are Through the Roof
Achieve a Park Rating of 1000.

As far as I can tell, rating is determined by the prestige of your rides plus the scenery of your park. If you follow the optimization strats above it should get you pretty close.

Once you have a good amount of money to spend, spamming a bunch of the $10,000 treasure chests around should help. Remember, scenery only counts if it’s by a pathway or ride, so make sure they’re not too far out.
Money Spinner
Achieve a monthly profit of $10,000

This one should come about fairly easily as you go through the rest of your achievements. If you have a decent, optimized park going and it still hasn’t popped, try shutting down your research projects and lowering your loan payments. You can also check the biggest money sinks in the balance tab of the park finances tab. Some shops have a hard time making profits, so consider destroying them and firing the employee, cutting off their main source of income and plunging them ruthlessly into poverty for the sake of profits (no need to feel bad, this is just a simulation. Nobody would do something like this in real life.)
You did it!
Hopefully, you should be at a lovely 100% by now! Good job! Pat yourself on the back! Treat yourself to something nice! You did it!

Thank you for reading my guide! This is my first one and I don't really know how any of this works.

Please leave a comment down below if I missed anything, if you know a good tip for getting and achievement, or if you liked the guide and just wanna say hi :)

Interestingly, loading into this map caused Brightest Star in the Sky to pop for me
