Aztec - Description
A small region surrounding the Mexican lakes, especially the territory of the central Texcoco lake, attracted Native American tribes with its fertile lands for ages.
Before the arrival of the Aztecs, there were dozens of towns and villages here.
The Aztecs came from the north in the 13th century. They called themselves "Mexicas" in memory of their leader Mexitli, who ruled them at the time of their settlement. The name "Aztec" derives from the name of their legendary former home Aztlan.
Under the reign of their glorious chief the Aztecs moved, taking long stops, sometimes up to
several years, until finally settling on the banks of Texcoco, on the Chapultepec (or "grasshopper") hill. At that time chief Tenoc was at the head of the tribe.
The tribes which had previously dwelt in the area decided to drive out the unwelcome guests. A nightly assault on the Aztec camp was planned, but that plan was revealed in time and the Aztecs fled on ferries and canoes to the center of the lake. Afterwards it became extremely dangerous to land on the shore, and this brought a new question for the Aztecs: Should they die on the shore or learn to live on the water?
They discovered a small island in the center of the lake, where they founded their new settlement: Tenochtitlan. The Aztecs lived on fish, crawfish and waterfowl, and procured land on which to sow seeds from the bottom of the lake. Everything else, including stone, wood and drinking water (the water of lake Texcoco was salty) they bought from their more fortunate neighbors. This could not last long, however. Feudal wars resulted in the Aztecs' subjugating some of their offenders and becoming one of the most powerful tribes in the Mexican valley.
In the 1430s a military confederacy developed with the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan at it’s head. The affairs of the confederacy were in the hands of the high council, which included the rulers of three
main cities. The main produce cultivated by the Mexicas was corn, but they also grew agaves, beans, pepper, tomatoes and tobacco.
The conquered territories provided cacao for the Aztecs. Thus, we owe the introduction of chocolate, which is so popular today, to the Aztecs. The sap of the agave leaf enabled the Aztecs to produce a remarkably strong beverage very much like vodka.

Additional Info
The Aztecs are a playable tribe in American Conquest and American Conquest: Fight Back. Like the Maya and Incas, they completely lack guns, horses, and cannons. However, they have extremely strong infantry.

Aztecs have access to high-quality infantry in form of the Aztec spearman, which can throw multiple high damaging javelins. Additionally, they possess a multitude of resistances, especially against arrow fire.

Aztec archers have by far the highest range of any archer in American Conquest. Their accuracy suffers as a result but the ability to burn buildings from a comfortable range is very useful.

Their most limiting weaknesses are the uniquely harsh building cost multipliers they have on their fortresses. In most matches Aztecs won't be able to build more than two fortresses. This, coupled with a mediocre training time for their units, creates a restrictive bottleneck effect in unit production.

Technology-wise, the Aztecs have access to higher degrees of building durability which makes their buildings more resistant to fire arrows.

Peasant:
The Peasant is the core unit of the game. They are workers, collecting resources and erecting buildings. Peasants can be recruited at any kind of Dwelling.
They can be captured by enemy forces if there is no friendly military unit nearby. When there is a friendly unit nearby they will attempt to fight the enemy off.

Aztec Spearmen
Spearman is a recruitable Infantry unit with an average to high attack speed. They are recruitable at the Fortress or Barracks.

Aztec Spearmen can also use Atlatl to perform a ranged attack in which they throw a Javelin.

Archer
The Archer is an Infantry unit, recruitable by the Aztec.

The Accuarcy of archers is typically very low but can be increased by Conduct practice shoot to make them easier to use.

Despite some archers having more flaming arrow damage than others, the conditions for a building to catch fire by archers always remains the same.

For a building to catch fire it has to be hit by a fixed amount of flaming arrows from any source that is defined by a buildings' flame resistance value. Thus, the flaming arrow value of archers is not as important as it may seem. If the building is upgraded with building durability, only the base damage of flaming arrows gets reduced but the building will still catch fire after its flame resistance is reduced to <0.

Shaman
The Shaman is capable of healing allied units.

The Shaman can heal any unit's hitpoints every 4 seconds. Unlike the European Priest, Shamans also have a Melee Attack and are required to form native Squad Formations, along with a Chief.

Chief
The Chief is armed with a club that is able to, in combination with a Shaman, form Squads. Chiefs cannot lose morale.

Fishing Canoe
The Fishing Canoe is a food-gathering naval unit of the Aztec.

Fishing Canoes have two archers per boat to defend themselves. They cannot shoot buildings.

Fishing Canoes are a food gathering naval units.

Battle Canoe
The Battle Canoe is the primary military naval unit of the Aztec.
Battle Canoes are very durable against most sources of damage, their main weakness being cannon fire from fortresses or warships. They additionally have very strong flaming arrows and can create a lot of damage on enemy coastal lines by shelling their buildings.

But even Battle canoes have to hit at least 16 flaming arrows for a building to catch fire.

Low HP buildings like tier 1 Dwellings might catch fire visually before their flame resistance has been depleted. But they still won't lose HP over time until their flame resistance value has reached a value of less than 0.

Ferry
Ferries are naval transportation units. All factions have access to ferries.

They can be upgraded to be incredibly durable.

The Repair ferry technology allows players to repair all ferries on the battlefield for 10%, which makes the already very durable ferries even more resistant. Repair ferry can be researched an infinite amount of times.

Fortress
Improve fortifications: allows the recruitment of Spearmen.
Build new barracks: allows the recruitment of Archers.
Build improved barracks: allows the recruitment of Chiefs

Dwelling I
Dwellings are buildings in that allow the production of Peasants and substantially increase the population limit.
You can select the all idle peasants (ctrl+p) or unoccupied mines (ctrl+m) button, found in the menu of Dwellings to select idle peasants or unoccupied mines.

Dwelling II
Dwellings are buildings in that allow the production of Peasants and substantially increase the population limit.

Temple
The Temple is a building where Shamans can be trained.

Shipyard
The Shipyard is a military building. Naval units are created in the Shipyard and so it needs to be built next to water.

Aztec Shipyards have two unique upgrades that improve the Population limit in +35 and +85 for an overall +195 Population limit added for each Fully Upgraded Shipyard. Each Upgrade also adds 10 000 HP to the Building which makes the Aztec Shipyard the one with the most HP, 35 000.

Tower
The Tower is a military building. Aztecs can build towers.
It is a purely defensive building and does not produce or upgrade any units. As is the case with other buildings, units stationed inside will shoot arrows at approaching enemies.

Scout Tower
The Scout Tower is a military building. Aztecs can build Scout Towers.
It is a purely defensive building and does not produce or upgrade any units. As is the case with other buildings, units stationed inside will shoot arrows at approaching enemies.

Aztecs can also build Towers, which have more hitpoints and can hold 25 more units inside.

Town Center
The Town Center is a building that allows the research of a wide range of different technologies.

Mill
The Mill is a building that is the center of food production of almost every faction. When a mill is built, a field of infinitely regrowing food will be sown around the Mill which takes a short time to grow.
The resowing of field can be toggled on and off (auto: on)

Every faction has access to 4 technologies at the mill. The upgrade-costs depend on the faction that the mill belongs to.

Storehouse
Storehouses serve as a dropoff point for Peasants, gathering wood and for hunters gathering meat. All factions can build Storehouses.
Tactics
For the Aztecs, focus on overwhelming the enemy with sheer numbers. Mass-produce peasants and archers to relentlessly harass enemy buildings—set them ablaze and eliminate workers at every opportunity. Establish a shipyard early to prioritize Fishing Boats for food gathering over mills, ensuring steady resource flow. Constant pressure and economic disruption are key to victory.
