What I notice is that... 1 and 2 is more not like gears but switching between rear and front wheels.
Both goes to Max RPM of 5000, so "engine" doesn't work "the same" it put all it's power to turn... only two front or rear wheels. This is how I see it.

When you are on "first gear" it accelerates faster, since center of gravity is placed towards the front, somewhat behind the front wheels, Between the Driver and Front Side passenger.

I think you start to get it. Like in "real life" as a car accelerates, the centre of mass is effectively shifted backwards. This means there the weight of the car is approximately evenly distributed between wheels, increasing the normal force between the tires and road surface and blah blah blah. (Don't know much about physics and cars, but I think it somehow similar in the game, well "trying to be")

So you see another blah blah and you get why when you use only front wheels, "second gear" to drag the car - you get better control for turns, but it accelerates slower, since center of mass near front wheels is shifted backwards.
(Don't really understand physics, but this is what I see in the game)

Even tho "first" and "second" "gears" shown as 1 and 2. I don't believe that it really "gears", since "first" gear accelerate faster and drag car with Read wheels, so it's not "gears", it "wheels". ;D

I hope I don't need to explain why you want to use Rear wheels if you Lose Front tires and opposite If lose Rear tires.
Buttons if you still don't know:
C - Change seat (Driver or Passenger, rear Left or Right sear)
X - Two sets of light and Off.
F - Horn. Honk-Honk!
