Presenting, Turtle's Unicorn Race!
Heavily based off of the unicorn enemy.

Play as a magical mare from The Hallow, boasting boundless magical potential and impressive top speeds while galloping!
The unicorns have a lot of beneficial traits, but their movement can be a bit hard to control, especially once they get running.



***** Main Traits *****
+ 50% increased max health
+ 100% increased max mana
+ 500 increased mana regen rate
+ 10% increased Magic damage
+ 1 more max minions
+ 100% increased speed (top speed, at least)
+ 10% increased mining speed
+ Increased jump force

***** Other Traits *****
+ Gallops at high speed. This knocks away enemies, reduces damage taken by 35% and extends invincibility frames (similar to Cross Necklace).
+ The +100% racial speed bonus also applies to accessories.
~ Non-minecart mounts act like transformations, hiding your character. Items can still be used.
- Poor deceleration.
- Wide hitbox. Can fit into a 3x3 space, barely.
* Press the primary racial ability key (default Z) to toggle trotting. Trotting improves movement control but limits speed.
* Can be mounted by others, granting resistance to the rider.

***** Custom Vanities *****
Unicorns support a few different saddles that you can craft at a Loom and some Silk.
You'll find cosmetic versions of saddles seen on other horses in Terraria, such as the Dusty Rawhide, Black Studded, and Royal Gilded saddles, as well as the saddle seen on the Blessed Apple mount!
You can also dye the unicorn directly! The unicorn does not display armour, so dyes applied to the head/body/legs slots will instead dye the unicorn's hair/body/hooves respectively.

***** Additional Notes *****
- Highly configurable, much like the L'il Dragon mod.
- Almost all vanilla armour and accessories will not render on the unicorn. It's just not made for it!
- Requires the L'il Dragon mod as a code library, and will not run without it.
- Need a wider trapdoor? This mod adds a Horizontal Unicorn Gate which is a 3 wide gate for floors or ceilings! Not quite the same, but it should suit your needs.
- Now with 'outfit' variants! Hornless unicorns, more colourable-friendly hair, or even a variant that mimics the enemy appearance as close as possible. Visit a dresser, or find it on character creation!

Version 0.4.0 is out now with a bit of a hoofstep system that can be enabled in the mod's client config. As mentioned below, the system is disabled by default and must be turned on manually.

Hopefully the sounds I've used are decent enough. I spent waaayy too long tuning the sounds to play on the same frames that the unicorn visually puts a hoof down onto the ground, plus making sure the 'random' sounds have some sort of order to them rather than just being truly random.

I didn't think of that! I could probably throw something together given some time, no promises on exactly when.
I'll likely make it an optional config so it can be enabled if desired, so as not to force it on everyone suddenly.

this is phenomenal! my one ask is that there be a config option to change the sound that is made while galloping with hermes boots (and others) so that it sounds like a proper gallop. the vanilla sfx are ill-fitting.

Im even more confused now as the 40~ mods we have work fine so long as wrath of gods is disabled but thanks for trying so far, if you want the mods list i could throw it somewhere for future bugfixing or if anything obvious stands out lmk

Well, I gave it a try myself with wrath of the gods and I still couldn't get the flute to break. I did discover a different minor issue that I've never noticed before, but I don't think it's related.
In short... still trying to replicate it myself, but can't. Tried solo using Host & Play ingame, tried with two clients on a server run using the dedicated server batch file... everything worked fine :\

Yeah ive not a fathom, weirder still i managed to bring a flute from sp attuned to one of my other characters into mp on a differnent character and it showed attuned to the other character. It kicked me from my own server so thats funny but even more confusing

Bleh, well if Calamity/addons for it are a possible cause then I can at least try to replicate it with those mods enabled then. I have no idea why or how it would cause it to break but then again Calamity is a huge beast on its own so there's probably some serious jank going on behind the scenes.

I just dont get why on earth it would be causing it since once again yeah it wont do anything in sp, but it doesnt break in sp

Ive only managed to get it to break one time in an mp server with just this mod tough, and that time it duplicate dropped it as my pc lagged so idk if that counts lol
