Chapter 1 - Save Him!
1. Start the game. You will get the achievement:


First steps
Start a new game.



2. Go to the door from the staircase. You will see a unique code above the intercom, it changes with each new game. Press the buttons on the intercom that correspond to the code numbers given above the intercom, for example:




3. Click on the door handle and enter the building. You will get the achievement:


Bad decision
Enter the building.



4. After entering the building, pass the vestibule with mailboxes and then collect the notes from the board on the right. One of them describes house rules:



Because one of the achievements involves breaking all the rules, our goal will be to break all the rules during the game. Note: To obtain this achievement, you do not need to break all the rules in one playthrough. The achievement will pop when you break some of the rules during one playthrough and some during the next one. However, it is worth breaking as many rules as possible during one playthrough to increase the chances of getting this achievement.

You will find valuable tips on the next note:



Your goal is to collect the keys to the roof from the housekeeper, the note says that she lives in apartment no. 16.

Break rule no. 1 and along the way, right-click on every doormat you come across and throw them everywhere, making a mess. Then go to the 3th floor and call Svobodna once (you will break rule no. 6, according to which you should call the housekeeper twice).


5. After the door opens, enter. The caretaker won't be nice and will put you in the bathroom with deadly gas. Let yourself die. You will get the achievement (if not, you will get it next time):

Break a rule.



6. After you die, return to room no. 16 and ring the bell twice. When the caretaker lets you into the house, take a screwdriver from the TV cabinet and use it to open the lowest closed drawer (RMB):




7. Go to the roof. Since one of the upper floors is blocked, you must take the elevator. During the ride, the elevator will break down and you will fall into the basement.



Chapter 2 - Get out of the basement!
1. Once you are in the basement, do not interact with the sitting man who is blocking the passage. Instead of interact to the man, turn left and use the candle to set fire to the garbage. Remember to throw the candle in a circle on the floor next to the trash. The hint can be found on the wall:




After that, you will get achievement:


Play with fire
Burn the basement down.



2. Then go under the boards and take the basement key from the table. While you're at it, take some medicine, a flashlight and a battery. You will also soon receive the achievement:


Don't talk to strangers
Don't interact with the man in basement.


Note: You won't get it immediately, probably when you enter room 21 later in the game. You have to wait for this achievement to appear.

3. Leave the basement and go to the 5th floor. You'll find it there "dark men". Look at him, so you will break rule no. 4. After death, go to 5th floor once again and go to the room no. 21. Close the door (it is possible that in this moment you will get achievement "Don't talk to strangers"). Look through the viewfinder (click on it right mouse button). You will get the achievement:

Look into the peephole.



If you see dark man in the peephole (viewfinder) you could die, so then start again and come back to the room no. 21. Go to the man who is sitting in the room. Behind the man, you can see the painting. Look at it by clicking the middle mouse button / scroll. This way you will break rule no. 5. You will die, so return to room number 21 again.

4. Watch the VHS tape that is in the video player. In the meantime, a girl will appear on the balcony, so open the balcony - the girl will jump down. Come back to the room and take 2 VHS tapes from the shelf, play each of them. At the same time, collect the medicines and batteries from the shelf.

5. During watching the TV, in another room will appear a girl jumping on the bed - go to her.

















Chapter 3 - Get to the roof!
1. Leave the basement and go to the 5th floor. You'll find it there "dark men". Look at him, so you will break rule no. 4. After death, go to 5th floor once again and go to the room no. 21. Close the door (it is possible that in this moment you will get achievement "Don't talk to strangers"). Look through the viewfinder (get as close to the door as possible, then click on peephole right mouse button). You will get the achievement:

Look into the peephole.



2. If you see dark man in the peephole (viewfinder) you probably die, so then start again and come back to the room no. 21. Go to the man who is sitting in the room. Behind the man, you can see the painting. Look at it by clicking the middle mouse button / scroll. This way you will break rule no. 5. You will die, so return to room number 21 again.

3. Collect from the collect the note, batteries and 2 VHS tapes from the shelf:




4. Watch the VHS tape that is in the video player and then next two ones In the meantime, a girl will appear on the balcony, so open the balcony - the girl will jump down.

5. Next, in another room will appear a girl jumping on the bed - go to her. The girl will disappear, the door to the room will close. Open the door, enter the room and pick up the key lying next to the bedside lamp. Leave the room (take only one step) - backrooms will appear and the message "WAIT! Something is wrong!" will appear:



At this point, go back into the room and an image of a normal room should appear. Exit it again - if the backrooms appear again, go back into the room again, as many times as necessary for the backrooms to no longer appear. If this does not help, close the door and try again. If the door is locked and you can't open it, unfortunately this is a bug and you will need to load a checkpoint. When you "close" the backrooms, you will get the achievement:

Do not enter the backrooms.


However, if you are already in the backrooms, you will only be able to achieve the above achievement in the new game. Find 3 balls (you pick up the ball right mouse button) and throw them into the pool that already has one ball in it. Then the passage will open:




6. After leaving the backrooms / room 21, according to the note, go to Kocianova's room. This is room number 11 on the 2nd floor. You will find a key under the mat (RMB). After entering the room, take the key to the mailbox. Pay attention to the animal that is in the painting at the entrance (rat, bat, spider or fly):



Then open the appropriate box following this instruction and get the VHS. Return to room 21.

7. On your way to room 21, you will see a wall between floors. If you want to break another rule (no. 2), do nothing. After a while, the wall that will crush you will kill you. There is also another solution: focus at the wall by middle mouse button and when you see the message that "I need really focus", the rule will also be counted as broken.

8. Go to the room no 21 and watch the VHS tape. You will see the half sun symbol there, a note will also appear in your inventory.
Chapter 4 - Repair the elevator
1. Go to room no. 18 on 4th floor (with the half-sun symbol), the door will be ajar. Go to the toilet bowl, remove the lid and take the key to the electrical box. Immediately go to the door and close the upper door lock, then hide under the bed (right mouse button). You will get 2 achievements:


Not today
Don't let the monster in.



Coward
Hide under the bed.



2. Wait a moment until the monster goes away. To check if it's still at the door, you can look through the peephole. When the corridor is free, leave the room (open the upper lock and then lower one by the key hanging next to the door). Then enter the next room - no. 19.

3. Enter the room, move the shelf by clicking on it several times. Connect the lamp cable to the socket (by right mouse buton; to make it easier, you can crouch). Then focus on the image that has been highlighted:





4. You will find yourself in a room with a rocking chair. Take the teddy bear from the closet and put it on the rocking chair. Go to the next room and focus on the painting again.

5. In the next room, take out the painting from behind the shelf, hang it on the wall and focus on it:




6. Go down to the basement. Open the electrical box with the key. Turn on 3 buttons, then replace one fuse (find one that is not broken):




Then enter code 999 and pull the lever. You will get the achievement:


Smart guy
Use correct code to repair.


Note: Code 999 appears later in the game when you enter the code provided in the box (666). By entering the code 999 you get the achievement, but you also skip the part of the game (part with the train). If you don't want to skip this part, enter the code 666 and pull the lever, but you will only be able to get the achievement in a new game.


Chapter 5 - Get to the roof
1. After fixing the elevator, go to floor 7 (by elevator). If you haven't achievement for broken all the rules yet, you can go down to the 6th floor (red) and in this way you will break rule no. 3. You will die, so you have to go back to the 7th floor.

2. Take the ladder from the place between 6th and 7th floor and put it to the trapdoor on the roof. Open the hatch with the key. Once you get upstairs, close the hatch and lock it with the wrench you can find in the metal closet. In the corner of the room will find the stool - place it beside the wardrobe and take the key from above:



Then open the door with the key and go out to the roof.

Chapter 6 - Save him?!


When you see a man on the roof, run up to him and immediately jump off the roof by clicking the space bar. You will get achievement:


Can't do it anymore
Jump off the roof


If you collect the last note that is lying on the corner of the roof, you will not get the achievement (you have to start the game from the beginning or load the game while it is still possible).

When you start a new game, find a public phone and call 112. Next choose option "There is a man on the roof calling for help".

Thank you :BSheart: I didn't succeed after one attempt, I had to try several times, in new game then there was actually one attempt (I came back and backrooms was blocked), but I wrote it to be sure, in case anyone had a problem. However, I think you made some patches and it works fine now :)

Great guide! You did an amazing job with it!

Just a small correction regarding the achievement "I Know This Story."

Actually, you don’t need to exit and re-enter multiple times. You just need to go back once. Close the bedroom door (this closes the portal), then open it again, and you will no longer teleport to the backrooms.
