How to plants sunflowers: a simple 4 step tutorial
By Skeebeeble
First of all, I can understand that there are a ton of questions surrounding this topic.
Questions such as, "How do I plant the sunflower? I've been getting all
of my sun from the sky, and it's very slow and I die a lot," or even, "I have not unlocked the sunflower yet, and I hear everyone talk about it. How do I get it?" (I'll get into that at the end of this little guide). I personally find it very annoying that the game doesn't just tell you how to plant sunflowers itself, as it took me a very long time to figure out on my own. However, with this guide, I hope to help all of the new players so that they aren't pushed away from the game like I almost was when I had first started. Alright, onto the guide, as I'm sure you're tired of my rambling.

Step 1
When you start a level (These are accessed by pressing the large button at the top of the tombstone on the main menu upon booting the game, displaying the word "ADVENTURE"), you will see a selection of all of your different plants. You will need to click on the sunflower, which will move it to the bar at the top of your screen, meaning you can use it while you are defending your home from the zombies. Clicking it again will result in it moving back down to the seed packet drawer, restricting it from your use during the defense of your home. You will want it in the bar up top, as this is required for the next steps.
Step 2
You must have the correct amount of sun (the game's in-round currency system which allows you to place plants) for this tutorial to continue. You should start with the required amount (50 sun), but if for whatever reason you do not, this is how to get some, even without a single planted sunflower. While it is day time, one sun (worth 25) will drop from the top of your screen approximately every 10 seconds. Sitting there and staring at them does not do any good, so click them, your life depends on it! You will need 50 sun for a sunflower, so you only have to click two fallen-sky suns, since each adds 25 to your total. Now that you have the correct amount of sun, let us move onto the next step!
Step 3
Third of all, you must click the seed packet that depicts the image of a sunflower. This selects it, being the third step required in planting it. You will want to be especially careful at this point, because if you mess it up now, you will have to repeat this entire step!
Step 4
After you have completed step 3, you will want to carefully move your cursor containing your sunflower seed packet onto any tile, and click on your tile of choice. If you have been following along with this tutorial, you should be greeted by the sudden joyous smile of your very first sunflower! After some time, your sunflower will produce some sun, sprouting up from its head and landing on the ground nearby. This sun is worth just as much as the sky-sun (refer to earlier for the amount), and allows you to kick-start the power plant for your entire infantry, and keep those pesky zombies away from the ~3 lbs (~1.36 kg) lump of fat in your head that runs off of less power than a light bulb.

Also, you can...
Alternatively, instead of clicking the seed packet and clicking in another location to plant your sunflowers, you can click and drag from your seed packet to your desired planting spot.
