handy trick to help you at the start: travel without running out of oxygen. Steps:
1. Unlock and craft a Builder Tool: This is essential for the process.
2. Prepare materials: Always keep 4 Iron Bars, 1 Electronic Part, and 1 Fabric in your inventory.
3. Craft a Habitat Airlock: When your oxygen is running low, use the Builder Tool to quickly craft a Habitat Airlock and refill your oxygen.
4. Recover materials: After refilling your oxygen, hold the "N" key to destroy the Airlock and recover the materials to use again later.

This trick ensures you can explore farther without the fear of running out of oxygen!

Sure, you can build Oxygen stations as well. But that will require you to have a scanner to unlock this. That means you will have to find and build that 1st!

Obvious fix is to patch so only self powered station segments produce oxygen

You need 4 FE, 1 Fabric, 1 Elec Part for the Airlock plus 3 FE, 1 Copper Wire for the Corridor.
So 4 FE, 1 Fabric, 1 Elec Part, 1 Copper Wire to be able to travel long distances without a ship to travel in.

The trick still works, all you need to do is carry an extra 2 iron bars and a copper wire to make a half corridor.

You can also build Oxygen Stations along the path you take.

later in the game when you can build a docking bay. this allows space for storage, charger, parking, and room for a teleporter. plus you can fiddle with your Sumon storage without having to worrying about asphyxiation.

Outstanding comment and tip! I tried that very thing, but it was because I had played The Planet Crafter and had done that with one of the basic rooms with a door. It accomplished the same thing and I'm glad they kept the same concept here.
