Movement Tech (And Controls) - Updates No Longer Ongoing :(
By Skull
A place to see and share all sorts of movement tech!
First guide for this game too! >:3
Please do share your movement tech in the comments. Unless you ask me not to, I'll add it in here and give you credit.

I can't play the game anymore so I can no longer test movement tech to add to this :/

BUILT IN CONTROLS
Walking, Crouching, and Looking up
Why would you need to be told how to do this?

- Pressing and holding A and D will allow you to move left and right respectively. This will not work mid-air.
- Pressing and holding S will allow you to crouch, this lets you fall through semi-solid platforms if you hold long down the button. Holding it down longer will cause the camera to pan down.
- Pressing and holding W will make you look up, useful for looking up.

Sliding
The game just never tells you how to do this

By quickly pressing A or D after crouching, you will perform a slide which gives you a quick burst of speed in the specified direction. This lets you get into one tile tall gaps.

Ball Mode
Aka: Using your bat but worse!

By double pressing and holding S will mid air, you will spin in a ball like that blue hedgehog again of all places!
This lets you bounce off of the floor, walls, and ceilings, losing momentum with each bounce. You will naturally pass through semi-solid platforms in this state.
Just like while crouching, your hitbox is only one tile high in this state.

Batting
How do I use the bat?

Using the arrow keys, you can swing your bat. Hold the button down longer to charge the swing. The longer you charge, the more powerful it is. While charging this swing, your friction is reduced.
Holding the charge for too long will cause you to misfire and not swing.
Hitting a surface with your bat will cause you to be flung in the opposite direction, and swinging mid-air will propel you slightly in that direction (assuming you don't hit a wall.)
Things that your bat hits won't necessarily kill you. You may just be able to save yourself if you bounce out of a "spike" pit.

MOVEMENT TECH
Railgunning
Good luck finding a place to use this to its full potential.

While in mid-air, you don't lose momentum to friction, this means that if you constantly swing in one direction while pogoing off of the ground, you can build up an insane amount of horizontal speed. Try hitting against a wall to start fast and build up more speed.

Roomba Mode
Please don't patch this or the next tech out of the game. They are my lifeblood.

By pressing left or right right without letting go of down after a slide, you can slide again immediately. This is significantly faster than walking and doesn't have the slow start up that railgunning without a wall has.

Learn To Jump
It's about time you learned how.

By using an upward or downward swing right after starting a slide, you can preserve your horizontal momentum while also going up.
Very useful for clearing those annoying ledges.

Small Uppies
R.I.P Big Uppies, you will be missed.

By spamming the upwards swing after bouncing from a long fall, you can increase the height that you bounce dramatically.
Unfortunately, this is no longer an easy way to gain infinite height.

you can't hit down tho but if you hit a diagonal it just sends you straight up

that bat twirling thing the guy a bit below me is talking about seems to just make it so you can charge your bat infinitely

small uppies can be turn into big uppies by doing a complex mechanic that gains you infinite vertical speed

(spoilers for basin 21 secrets)
If you found the green ice skates the use of it (W + swing up if you are on keyboard) gives a tiny upward boost, this boost can be extended the more vertical speed you have, you can do
1-hit down with the bat
2-use green ice skate
3-fall
4-hit down again with the bat
and the more you continue doing this the more you can go up.
also just a tiny thing to notice, if you hold the swing button (any direction) Iricas will just spin so you have to wait a tiny bit, not even half a second so you can do swings or else you will just do funny spin.

also about the spin, if you hold it and you were moving in a direction, the spin will not be hold off by friction even if you dont have the skates on, it doesnt do much really but it was funny just roaming around while spinning and falling off a cliff from space

W guide thank u

Is there any use for Bat twirling, or is it just for goofing off? Holding the W key then spamming the left or right arrow. Seems somewhat useless

Holding charge reduces momentum lost to friction.

Here's some tech for any object that you can hit while inside of: hit the block upward to launch yourself towards the floor, then swing downward to hit the floor, and then down again to hit the block. This can cause you to gain a lot of height really quickly.
