I will re-read the guide and try to make a spoiler free section, so u (and others) can proceed without fear of spoilers.
I believe that error-and-trial is part of the game design cause the books explain more about lvl. 10 and 15 recipes or a different approach to use skills that gives a lvl 5 recipes. The craft system reinforces this perception to me because when crafting, by reaching lvl 5 the game normally says what’ll be craft and the next step to a lvl 10 recipe. The books that give ink recipes are mostly about... inks! (ex.: History of inks) and maybe books that give ink-skill lessons have some recipes too, but that's just a hypothesis. And to find a recipe in a book is too, an error-and-trial experience. BoH is a game that, by design, needs time and a looot of reading and writing down for u to advance.
I hope I have helped, please let me know if u need any more info!
I unlocked 40% of the rooms but I've not reached 10+ principle crafts yet (and I don't want to waste my materials if it doesn't work).
Thanks for the guide and have a nice day.
