The problem with the game crashing on startup, seems to be from Steam itself.
To fix this you can turn Steam offline, this fix worked for me.
Go to the top left and click on Steam, after that just click "Go Offline"




After that the game didn't open for me while using Steam. So I had to go into the installation folder and start up the .exe by itself (This isn´t necessary, sometimes you just have to restart steam)

After you're done playing you can just turn Steam back online on the top left.

This won´t stop it 100% from crashing when you try and start a map, but I was able to go from opening nothing, to all 3 maps in a row.

This fix is for NVIDIA graphics card users.

1 - Go to the bottom right and open "NVIDIA control panel"

2 - Configure "Surround, PhysX". In the tab called "3D Settings"

3 - Change the Processor, that I highlighted, to CPU specifically (this will effect other games so keep that in mind)



All done. Hopefully this will help with the map loading crashes.

Steam should install most of what you need right away. If you happen to uninstall it or something goes wrong, the game won´t even give a crash error.

The following programs are what you need:



1 - Right-click the game and go into the directory, there will be a folder named "Installer". In that folder open "PhysX" and install it.

2 - Click on this link. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=22588
Download the file and install it.

Hopefully this general guide can help someone. It started at first as a SteamAPI fix only, but I want to try and add solutions to any problem I can find to this guide.
