How do I unlock new bait and fishing rods?
Completing all the tasks in your mission book will unlock new items for purchase.

How do I actually catch fish in this game???
The tutorial doesn't do a very good job at telling you how to actually catch fish in this game, the goal is to keep adding and relieving tension on your line until the fish gets tired. The line will click if you're applying too much tension and adding any more will quickly snap the line.

How do I relieve line tension?
You can hold the trigger on whichever hand is holding the fishing rod to let the line out.

The locations below will be heavily referenced in the Fishing Guide, All locations are officially recognised by the game except for the "Middle Area" which I made up for the sake of this guide.

Rowing through all the official locations will unlock the Marco... achievement.
Several story missions will also have you visit some of these locations.

if you're having trouble catching a specific fish then you can physically look under the water and see if its actually there. if the fish cannot be seen under the water then it cannot be caught.

To do this you just need to open the in-game settings and set the Camera Height slider to the lowest point, then get down on the floor in real life and poke your head under the water.

The Luppe is by far the rarest fish in the entire game making it really annoying to try and catch.
Even worse it has the exact same shape as the Snuppe fish which is significantly more common.

To catch this fish I recommend you peek under the water using the built-in height slider and keep restarting the game until it spawns, if it doesn't exist under the water then you can't catch it!

Restarting the game will give you a new set of fish, entering and exiting sleep mode will not.

• This fish only spawns in night mode (Accessed with the Sleep Mask).
• This fish will only spawn in the Middle Area, it is pointless looking anywhere else.
• it really likes the Spinnerbait but can I believe it can be caught with other baits as well.


If the fish you spot has a white nose and / or fins that are red and reflective then its a Snuppe.
If the fish you spot is very dark and has big spots all over its body then you've found the Luppe.

The Luppe is also a significantly larger fish from what I've seen.

The Slackjaw is the fish you'll need to catch to complete the final mission but it does not need to be your final fish. You'll also be tasked with finding the special bait needed to catch the fish.

The bait is always found in the same location. See 0:54 in the video below.

The trick to catching this fish is put the tip of your rod high in the air so at any moment you can physically drop it down to relieve the tension. You need to stay far away from the breaking point.

You'll also need lots of patience cause this battle can go on for like 10+ minutes.

The Registoma fish can only be caught during a lightning storm while using the Glowing Bait.

I was able to catch Registomas by casting my rod just down from the Arch in the Middle Area.

Several people have said this fish can be caught by the Reeds but I had absolutely no luck there.

Fish can be kept in your boat between sessions but it is possible for your items to get deleted.

All the paparazzi locations have been fully mapped out below, You'll hear a distinct sound and the image will be placed inside your mission book when you get the right shot.

Successfully taking all 6 photos will unlock the following achievement:
