"Many years ago I had an incredible spiritual journey where I saw a serpent of entropy that was swallowing all of space and time. It came to my attention many years later that the vision was of a space-filling curve fractal. In my study of these curves I made several animations on how hilbert curves relate to the inverse square law and the shape of radiation (expansion of energy). During a recent excursion into the woods I miraculously stumbled into this INCREDIBLE GEOMETRY! This is Sparassis Cripsa, a parasitical fungi that grows on oak tree roots. And would you know it, this mushroom is utilizing a series of space-filling curves that grow into a hyperbolic tower. You can see the shape of its radiation! This mushroom optimizes for maximum surface area (spore surfaces) while minimizing material used and maintaining structural integrity.
The mushroom was incredibly delightful, not only to look at but also to eat! With the texture of noodles and the flavor of a mildly sweet and sour mushroom.
I am in awe of the intelligence and love that forms such wonders."
