You can jump farther if you if you tilt your vision a little combine a strafe with the forward movement (W+A or W+D). It will combine both speeds. Very useful for the steam labyrinth and ice lake, letting you skip a few squares.
For the lake one can provoke the ice with the shack pallets so it breaks, then discard them and jump on the larger ice chunks. The broken ice is ironically safer than the solid one.
For dogs, you can sneak up behind them and stun lock them with the pickaxe. Hitting them in the face once they get up will ragdoll them repeatedly (but done too early, they will ignore the hit and run). If they escape, run the opposite direction and take cover until the music goes away then sneak up behind them again. Works on hard difficulty.
On another note, I progressed to Shaft 12, and I didn't find one of the newspaper clippings (the ones I got are KNR Thursday 1st and Copenhagen Post). Might have been bugged out.
I also didn't find the Rock Worm Study note in the room with the save artifact, but rather the next one, in a cabinet. I also searched that room for the third clipping, just in case, without success.
What's the best way to block the door so the dog can't come in ? A single wooden barrel doesn't seem to be enough, and a second one doesn't seem to help either.
