As you can see, the standard Baldari grenade has a longer throwing range, greater fragmentation, and explosive power. But don’t be too quick to write off the Petardo Offensivo; it is highly useful in mountainous terrain due to its sudden detonation. Enemies won’t have time to react once you throw it.

This characteristic is especially useful in mountainous combat. In such terrain, traditional grenades with delayed fuses can roll back toward the thrower, and enemies can more easily take cover behind rocks. Soviet troops encountered these challenges during the invasion of Afghanistan, which led Soviet designers to create the RGO and RGN grenades, also designed to detonate suddenly.

Pulling the grenade pin takes a few moments, so I recommend throwing it only when you have teammates nearby who can cover you in case an enemy appears unexpectedly.

Avoid throwing it from the base of a mountain—it simply won’t reach far enough. It’s most effective when you’ve gained a bit of elevation.
