Description
After the underwhelming performance of the Megalodon the Steel Striders admiralty turned back to Rapromium heavy Industries for an improved design. Built with the same design concepts as the far more successful and combat proven Tyr the Odin improves the total main cannon fire power by approximately 75% compared to the Tyr, and thanks to hard learned lessons in armor design has been built to withstand several minutes of direct fire from any cannon the world has to offer and even continue sailing after being hit by numerous ICBMs that would have split the Tyr in half, all while sacrificing nothing in top speed and maneuverability.

The true pinnacle of Steel Striders firepower and durability, the Odin serves as the Steel Striders flagship super dreadnought, able to take any hit required and dish out enough firepower to destroy even the largest flagships in the world. Many foes struggle to so much as dent its armor if their weapons can even make it past its exceptionally large active protection system.

Hey! Thanks for taking a look at my fan build, this took way too long to build, about 5 days of no life building though I might have zoned out watching it blow up random stuff for maybe half of that. Basically my love letter to the Tyr, the old king of the game! And to mark my 10th year anniversary of playing this game. Hope you enjoy it!

No I dont have a empty hull version, though I will probably be finishing up the decorations on it soonish so maybe I will publish a version like that when I get around to it

I hadn't tested it that much, so I'm happy to take your word about the optimization. I don't think the build is any less impressive for being designed according to SS combat doctrine, and honestly I think the Meta is boring anyway. I always admire builds that are cost effective as mine always end up costing far too much. Building efficient weapons is... tricky.

This ship was designed as a flagship first and a duellist second, meant to fit into Steel Striders fleet doctrine more then being a meta build. I think this makes it a fair challenge while still being possible to beat for newer players. Also feels better to have "realistic" ships rather then min maxed meta duellists to me

TLDR: If you wanna beat this ship just build a frontsider projectile avoidance laser brick. Congratulations you won FTD.

@St0rmWyvrn I was going to add sonar decoy buoys but they ended up being too expensive and then forgot to add normal sonar decoys. Added them now. Its torpedo defenses are a little weak but it can still face tank along of huge torpedoes.

As for submarines. Well the ship is rather fast and has super cavitation base shells. While you could technically duck under them that would put you under the floor in most of neter, especially the shallower waters the Steel Striders are in

As for the shell choice. While pure sabot might be more effective in 1v1s against heavily armored ships. AP-Frag is far more consistent in overall damage output. With sabot if you are lucky you can kill practically any ship in the game in a single volley, but that is a big gamble. AP-Frag provides plenty of penetration while also dealing consistent damage against basically any target, though it can over penetrate small ships.

@St0rmWyvrn The drone is set to basically max combat distance with a U turn. It very rarely if ever gets targeted and when it does it is very far away so any AA fire is extremely unlikely to actually hit it. I ran about 50 combat tests against a selection of all the hardest Godlies in the game and the Naga only gets shot down on very rare occasions usually by missiles, but that's only because I haven't really spent that much work on projectile avoidance. And it is only 18k materials so its hardly a large waste of materials. Mostly it just helps deal with front siders and overall draining defensive systems.

The offensive laser system is mostly AA to counter nukes and drones. Its not really a anti ship weapon. But because the cannons are set to synchronise fire there is no LAMS in the game that can block its firepower, you would need to be a massive laser brick to manage that but its not impossible, though shields do deflect a decent amount.
