Introduction
First of all, this guide will not contain ALL available events in the game, only those that lead to acquiring key items or change/require specific variables.

Should be obvious, but this guide is FULL OF SPOILERS.

I opted to use the word "Chain" to describe the way events are set up in DST, cause their structure is exactly that - a sequence of scenes following one after another.

The game's pool of doors has several duplicates that do different things, meaning that the same-colored doors can lead to different chains of events each time you interact with them. For that reason I'll mark such doors with numbers.

I will be marking specific variables like [this]. I'm yet to figure out if some of them actually do anything, like [melmance] for example.

Lastly, just want to add that I'll try my best to arrange this compendium in a walkthrough-like way, but it won't be perfect since the game is built around RNG.

Key Items (Part one)
UMBRELLA

Purple-tinted Faces Door #1
1.) On first use, transports you to the rainy city scene. Interact with the bucket to get UMBRELLA;
2.) After that, opening this door in Naraka will always teleport you to the Hub.

THE SUN

1.) To start this chain, you’ll need UMBRELLA in your possession. Talk to this character in Naraka and you’ll receive THE SUN. Be warned though, there are actually TWO instances of this fake sun fellow. The second one just talks to you;

2.) After the second talk with the sun the character of Nyanko gets unlocked (she has five talks with her in total);
3.) The fifth talk will be vastly different depending on if Himiko is alive at that point.

MIRROR

Just talk to this character in Naraka and agree to go with him. You’ll receive MIRROR. Be warned though, there are actually TWO instances of this moon-face fellow. The second one just talks to you.
During your talk with chromed fellow, you can lose one point of [Karma] and [melsmood] if you ask "You can't give yours up?".

COFFEE

Interact with this character three times to receive COFFEE. During your second talk, you can lose a point of [Karma] for saying nothing after he asks "Are you still there?"

TOY CAR

1.) After the first introductional encounter, you will find the clown girl in Naraka without the penguin. Agree to help her;

2.) Next, her spawn will be briefly replaced by Lyssa. Agree to her proposal. Interact with Toshi and the clock;

3.) Find Toshi in Naraka and talk to him to get TOY CAR.

ARTICHOKE

1.) The chain starts with two Esme talks;

2.) Esme's spawn is replaced with Meri. During this talk you have an opportunity to encourage her (+1 [Karma]) or saying "Keep dreaming" to hurt her (-1 [Karma] and [passion ended] is set to 1). If you hurt her, the chain stops progressing, and you'll have to acquire ARTICHOKE by an alternative method;
3.) One more talk with Meri;

4.) Esme returns for one scene;

5.) Meri gives you ARTICHOKE. You can also get one point of [Karma] for saying "I will miss seeing you dance";
6.) One additional Meri scene on Combat Mode.

ARTICHOKE - Alternative Path

1.) Ayumu has two normal talks first;

2.) She is briefly replaced by this spawn. Agree to help;

3.) During the next talk with her, if you have [passion ended] set to 1, Ayumu will give you ARTICHOKE.
Key Items (Part Two)
PAPER DOLL

1.) During first interaction with Ori, she will ask you to meet her friend. Go with her. During your conversation with Chiyo, if you ask "Why does your friend not blink?" you'll lose one point of [Karma];
2.) During your second interaction, agree to follow Ori again. At the end of the scene, if you say "Way too cheery for my tastes" you'll lose one point of [Karma];
3.) Next scene with Ori does not involve any variables;

4.) Instead of Ori, Chiyo will spawn and you'll have two talks with her;

At this point, you might want to postpone further interactions with Ori to see one additional scene with her and Meri. Search for "Purple-tinted Faces Door #2" in the Minor Events section of this guide.

5.) Ori reappears in Naraka to give you PAPER DOLL, then dies;

6.) One additional talk with Chiyo;

7.) Chiyo's spawn is replaced by Sal, who leads you to three separate scenes with Mel and Gomi in the bar;

8.) And finally, Sal's spawn is replaced with Celare for Chiyo's comeuppance.

SITAR

1.) After first two encounters, the third one only triggers if you have THE SUN. You don't have to agree to go to the Great Lotus (skip it if you yet to see all of Himiko's chain and want to witness Mel's talk with Himiko). If you agree to go, in the Great Lotus map, enter the Purple-tinted faces door to trigger an event with Mel;
2.) Jomon has three more scenes, but they are not mandatory at all;

3.) Talk twice with Bakeneko;

4.) From now on, he'll appear without a hat, for three more scenes;
5.) Next interaction will grant you SITAR and also -1 to your [Karma].

SUNDIAL

Grey-tinted Faces Door
1.) First five events triggered by this door involve Mel's nightmares;
2.) Next six interactions are Spyglass events (fifth one requires SITAR chain to be finished);
3.) The next time you enter the door you'll receive SUNDIAL;
4.) Two more Spyglass events will follow;
5.) After that, opening this door in Naraka will always teleport you to the Hub.

CIGARETTES

1.) Talk with the jester in Naraka at least once;
2.) He will then spawn at the subway map (the same small map where card man always spawns). Talk to him and agree to board the train. During your ride, Mel will ask: "You know what the golden hour is, Golem?"
-Answer "It occurs around sunset?" to gain one point of [Karma];
-Answer "I don't think I care" to lose one point of [Karma];
For another point of positive [Karma], when she asks: "What about you, surely you've seen it?" say "I have" and then "The sun feels warm on your skin."
3.) In the city, talk to unusually pale Mel, talk to the demon and walk through the door. Leave when the talk with coffin creature is over;

4.) Return to the subway map. The rat will spawn there. Talk to it and agree to board the train once again;
5.) After talking to Mel, you'll wake up in the prison cell. Jump into the hole under your bed;
6.) Talk with Froggy to obtain CIGARETTES. Talk to Mel to leave this place.

PC

1.) First two talks with Gomi are nothing special. During the third one, she'll ask you to find her Apartment Key;

2.) Speak to this character with CIGARETTES in your possession to receive Apartment Key;

3.) After returning Apartment Key to Gomi, she'll invite you into her room and gift you her PC;
4.) She has three more scenes after that.

FLOPPY DISK

1.) Interact with Vicsine two times. On your third encounter, agree to deal with the virus;

2.) If this character still spawns for you, talk to him. Otherwise, skip;

3.) Find Konpy and talk to her two times. Offer her your PC;

4.) Back to Vicsine. She'll give you FLOPPY DISK.

GUMBALLS

1.) First four interactions with Taidana are unlocked by default. During the second one, you have to play cards with her to progress the chain (probably an oversight);
2.) For the next scene, you'll need UMBRELLA;
3.) Next scene with Gomi only triggers if you found Apartment Key before. Gomi will give you GUMBALLS;

4.) Taidana's spawn is briefly replaced with Ayumu for the last, bonus event with her and Celare.
Key Items (Part Three)
8 BALL AND GOLD ROSE

1.) Himiko will start talking to you only if you have positive [Karma];
2.) On second interaction she will bring you into her home. When she asks: "it seems you don't engage in conversation much, do you?"
-Answer "I ignore those who nag" to lose one point of "[Karma];
3.) Next interaction triggers a scene between Himiko and Mel (only if you didn't go to the Great Lotus with Mel yet);

4.) Go to the subway map and find the maid there. Agree to board the train;
5.) After the talk with Mel, you'll arrive to the city. Talk to Himiko there. Look at the alien thing. Then say you are ready and talk to the robot;

6.) Find Himiko again and talk with her about premonitions;

Mel's Grey Door
6.) Only unlocks after previous talk with Himiko. The event with Lilum will play out;
7.) Next time you enter this door, Himiko dies;
8.) If you've previously had a talk with Mel about her wanting to go to the park, the scene with her will play next time you interact with this door. It will be completely skipped otherwise (the door will appear locked for you);
9.) Next interaction with this door is a message from Himiko. [true ending] is set to 1. The door will remain locked after this point;

10.) Meanwhile, in Naraka, Lilum finally speaks to you instead of ignoring. BUT if you are on Pacifist mode, during this interaction you’ll get [alt path] set to 1, and she won’t appear in Naraka anymore (look below for alternative path to obtain 8 BALL);

11.) This girl in Naraka now has an additional scene with an alien-looking thing. Trigger it;

Asphodel Door
12.) This door is usually locked. Seek it out now to obtain GOLD ROSE. After that, opening this door in Naraka will always teleport you to the specific map;

13.) On Combat mode you’ll get two more talks with Lilum. At the end of the second one, she gives you Mark of Lilith, which will attract Lilith to your position;
14.) After that, each talk with her will reward you with Forged Memory Aid, until Lilith is finally dead;

15.) With Lilith defeated, seek out Lyssa in Naraka. She'll give you 8 BALL.

8 BALL- Pacifist Mode

For this method of obtaining 8 BALL you need to be on Pacifist Mode and have [alt path] set to 1 (see the previous chain). Interact with Celare at least four times, and next time you meet her, she'll give you 8 BALL.

ODD FIGURINE

For this one you'll need to find the Golden Church floor and talk with its owner. He'll ask you to find GOLD ROSE. Next visit you can either give it to him or keep it, you'll get ODD FIGURINE and will keep your rose either way (due to bug).

INTESTINES

Mel's Door #1
This door is not a prerequisite to the chain, but it can offer a tiny variation to it. I might be wrong, but it seems like the game sets [melsmood] variable to 100 at the start of the game. Then, during this one specific event:

"Sometimes even I question what we're doing. I know it feels as if you are involved in something morally unjust."
you have an opportunity to say to Mel that you don't trust her, which drops [melsmood] to 99.

Mel's Door #2
Another opportunity to drop the variable down a point is when this door triggers the first scene of Mel holding recently acquired UMBRELLA. Say "Don't get too attached" for -1 [melsmood].

Rusted Door #1
1.) On first interaction, this door will bring you to the rusted hallway where Horned Woman sits. The Rusted Key is hanging on a thread to the right of her, click on the gate and you'll automatically pick up the key. Talk to Horned Woman;
2.) After that, opening this door in Naraka will always teleport you to the rusted realm.

Rusted Door #2
1.) When you interact with this door, it brings you to the Iron Maiden lift. Now, when you have the Rusted Key, you can finally ride it up. Curiously, if [melsmood] is set exactly to 99, Melpomene will enter the Iron Maiden instead;
2.) The lift will bring you to the lord of the rusted realm, and he will ask you to seek out an angel and ask for its forgiveness;
3.) After you agree, opening Rusted Door #2 in Naraka will always teleport you to the rusted realm (until one specific point during HAND DRILL section below);

Angelic Door #1
4.) Interact with this door, and you'll meet with and Angel of Forgiveness;
5.) After your talk with the Angel, the Angelic Door #1 will disappear from Naraka (but will reappear for one specific, very important event that I'll mention after HAND DRILL section below);

Rusted Door #3
6.) Entering this door will normally just teleport you to the rusted realm. But right now it will bring you back to its lord. You will receive INTESTINES. The door goes back to its usual behavior after that.

HAND DRILL

I recommend talking at least two times with Osamu character first.

1.) The Chain itself starts after exhausting two first talks with this crippled character, and then encountering them again with INTESTINES in your possession. This unlocks two more talks, including one with Professor character. He will ask you to meet Horned Woman once again;

Rusted Door #2
2.) This door will teleport you back to Horned Woman for a brief scene. After this encounter is over, opening Rusted Door #2 in Naraka will always teleport you to rusted realm;

3.) Next encounter will lead to a scene with Mel, that uncovers a bit more lore if you have [osamu] >= 2 (talked to Osamu at least twice) and allows you to influence your [Karma]:
When she says: “This partnership was rather forced upon you after all, but I promise I'm trying to do what I think is right.”
-Answer “Yes, I do” to lose one point of [Karma];
-Answer “No, I don't” to gain one point of [Karma].
4.) Next encounter grants you HAND DRILL.

Reflect - Important for one of the endings

Angelic Door #1
This is the same door that was involved it INTESTINES chain. With HAND DRILL in your possession, the door will reappear and entering it will trigger the event with Mel and the gallery of paintings. Mel will briefly comment on each Key Item in your possession. At the end of the scene [reflect] will be set to 1. Angelic Door #1 will disappear from Naraka.
Minor Events Dependent on Key Items/Variables

One secret interaction unlocks if you have THE SUN and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

One secret interaction unlocks if you have INTESTINES and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

1.) During the second talk with this character, you can get or lose one point of [Karma]:
When he says: “Maybe you just like drama, right? do you enjoy watching people suffer?”
-Answer “Yes” to lose one point of [Karma];
-Answer “No” to gain one point of [Karma].
2.) A chain of three additional dialogues unlocks if you have PAPER DOLL and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

One secret interaction unlocks if you have 8 BALL and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

1.) One secret interaction unlocks if you have PAPER DOLL and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.
2.) THEN, another secret interaction unlocks if you have THE SUN and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

A chain of three additional dialogues unlocks if you have COFFEE and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

One secret interaction unlocks if you have INTESTINES and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

A chain of two additional dialogues unlocks if you have 8 BALL and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

A chain of three additional dialogues unlocks if you have TOY CAR and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

A chain of four additional dialogues unlocks if you have MIRROR and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character.

---When you get the Card Box from him, [sal] sets to 1.

One secret interaction unlocks if you have THE SUN and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character. (This interaction will repeat each subsequent time – maybe a bug?)

Two additional scenes unlock if you’ve progressed Ori’s chain far enough (almost to the end, in fact).

A chain of two additional dialogues unlocks if you have SUNDIAL and you’ve exhausted all previous talks with this character. Last talk with him (froggy with his friend) will set [The true path] to 1.

Another Froggy is programmed to appear in Naraka on March 24th of each year and wish someone a happy birthday.

This character only has one interaction, during which you can influence your [Karma]. When he says: "So even if you feel lost or hopeless, please remember that you are not alone in this."
-Answer “I don't need help” to lose one point of [Karma];
-Answer “Thank you” to gain one point of [Karma].

1.) During your fourth talk with him, you can lose one point of [Karma] if you ask: "Have you ever drawn before?";
2.) Fifth interaction unlocks properly only if you have HAND DRILL;
3.) Next time, his spawn is briefly replaced by Gomi for final scene.

Mel's Door #3
Gardening talk with Mel. Say "Maybe I can help you one day" to gain one point of [Karma].

Mel's Door #4
Mel with umbrella in her pond. When she asks: "If we do find one, would you like to go on a walk with me?"
-Answer “That would be nice” to gain one point of [Karma] and set [The park memory] to 1;
-Answer “I'll pass” to lose one point of [Karma].

Purple-tinted Faces Door #2
1.) First interaction is Mel sitting inside large wine vessel;
2.) Second event with Meri and Ori triggers only if Ori is still alive and you have ARTICHOKE in your possession;
3.) Then, after Ori's death, the last event will trigger, after which this door is removed from the game entirely.

Angelic Door #2
This door will appear for one single event (demon guarding the gateway), after you've triggered wine vessel scene mentioned just above this entry. At the end of this scene [chase] is set to 1.

Blue Door
1.) Normally, this door will teleport you to Starman, where you can ask some questions;
2.) After that, if [floorcountcheck] is not equal to 30, the door will be locked;
3.) And if [floorcountcheck] is equal to 30, you will be teleported to Starman again, but this time he will speak about Chii;
4.) After that, each time you enter the Blue Door, you will randomly get either a Warp Orb or a card. For some reason, variable [greeny] is set to 3 here, which might skip Ayumu's chain - I think this is a bug.

Hell Door
1.) This door leads you to the Chained Man. He will ask you to bring the mirror;
2.) The door remains locked, until you acquire MIRROR. You'll get nothing for actually showing it to the Chained Man. No variables are changed by this act;
3.) The door will remain locked after that.
Major Chains
FISHING

Purple-tinted Faces Door #3
1.) This door normally just teleports you to the Hub;
2.) With THE SUN in your possession, it will instead lead you back to the Bucket Girl’s place for a short scene;
3.) Next time you enter, the character of Winstead is introduced. You'll have a total of 12 events with her. They do not rely on any variables or key items;
4.) After triggering all 12 of her events, the door will revert back to its original behavior - teleporting you back to the Hub.

LUCK ENHANCEMENT

Rusted Faces Door
1.) On first interaction, a cryptic event will play out with someone leaving you a shady luck enhancement;
2.) On second interaction, you'll meet creepy masks growing on woman's body. Their dialogue will change slightly if Himiko, Ori or Bucket Girl are dead at that point in the game;
3.) Next interaction, you'll meet Gabriel for a short talk;
4.) On fourth interaction, you will see a tortured angel in the rust realm. The dialogue changes slightly if you have INTESTINES and/or HAND DRILL;
5.) Last interaction, with Saraswati, triggers only if you had THREE talks with Bakeneko and no more than that.

MORTA

Grey Door
1.) On first activation, black ball with an eye will ask you to find its spaceship. The door will temporarily disappear from Naraka after that;

Weird Door #1
2.) This door triggers yellow zone event (beppins watching shapes). To offer them MIRROR during the next visit, you need to trigger the UFO event above first, as a second hidden requirement. Weird Door #1 will remain locked after this event;

Grey Door
3.) Back to this door now, another scene with UFO will be triggered;
4.) On next entry, you will be met with an eerie Morta scene. Next three times you'll enter the door, the scene will become more and more ominous;
5.) The door is removed from Naraka.

GLASS COMPANION - Needed for Mainan Hantu ending!

Angelic Door #3
1.) This chain opens with a scene of dolls running on sand;
2.) On second and third interaction, Mel introduces you to her new friend made of porcelain glass;
3.) Next four events require UMBRELLA in your possession;
4.) Last four events require 8 BALL and SUNDIAL;
5.) The door is removed from Naraka after that.

SICKLY WOMAN - needed for Jophiel's ending!

1.) She has seven events first;

2.) Then her spawn is replaced by Alonya for three more scenes;

3.) Then sickly woman is back with looping talk event. At this point, the chain is finished.

FLIRTING WITH MEL - needed for Jophiel's ending!

Rusted Door #4
1.) First event is a creepy scene of the robot crawling towards you;
2.) Next scene is Mel sitting in front of the big mirror;
3.) During the next event, Mel will ask: "When you close your eyes what do you see?". Answer "You" to gain a point of [melmance];
4.) During the next event, say to her: "You look nice today" to gain a point of [melmance];
5.) Next scene is Mel with Barre. After that, the door disappears from Naraka;
6.) The door appears again if you've finished Sickly woman's chain. The scene with Alonya and Mel will play out. Then, the door disappears again, and reappears only if you are committed to Jophiel's ending (see that section for continuation).
Tower Ending
Simply gather all of the Key Items and open previously locked gates in the Hub opposite the save statue. Talk with Chii, then everyone else, and enter the final door.
Jophiel's Ending

1.) The Chain starts after exhausting two first talks with this character, and then encountering them again with INTESTINES in your possession. This unlocks three separate talks with them;
2.) After you exhaust those three talks, they’ll introduce you to Jophiel, with whom you’ll have two talks on separate occasions;
3.) To unlock the next talk with Jophiel, bring THE SUN;
4.) For the next talk to unlock, you’ll need [reflect] set to 1. It will set you on the path towards Good Ending;

5.) Next time, Jophiel will appear in Naraka himself for another talk. After this talk, he will still be appearing in Naraka, but will remain silent;

Rusted Door #4
6.) Seek out this door - it was used for "Flirting with Mel" chain (search in the Major Chains section). Entering it will trigger the penultimate event with Mel. You need to be very precise with your words here: say "I don't want you to die", then "We are tampering with the worlds balance", then "The beauty of earth and the naraka....", then "Allow it to heal through forgiveness", then "Jophiel can cure us...", then "Forgive yourself". After that, Rusted Door #4 is deleted from Naraka;
7.) Meet Jophiel in the Hub to trigger the ending.
Mainan Hantu Ending

1.) The chain starts with four dancing shroom's events;

2.) Then, the shroom's spawn gets replaced with stuffed monkey. One event does not require anything;
3.) The last four scenes require PAPER DOLL;
4.) If you have GOLD ROSE, the monkey doll will appear in the Hub. You will need to finish Glass Companion chain (search the Major Chains section of this guide) to actually trigger the ending.

Other minor curiosities (Work in Progress)

There's a unique Rusted Door on one of the maps that opens up after you see rusted crawler event. It only shows you the cutscene of chimes playing in the rusted realm and teleports you to the random floor.

This floor with guaranteed Vicsine spawn also has a unique door that only opens if you have [floorcountcheck] >= 20. It teleports you to the altered Hub consisting of a single corridor with four paintings of Mel on the wall.

On this map there's a specific place where if you look up...

the "i've seen all good people" achievement won't work, and neither will alonya spawn so i'm a little stuck with where i'm at

does anyone have any advice or no
alcremie 2 Apr @ 2:08pm
Is the I love you achievement only obtainable in combat mode or is my game glitching/i'm getting really horrible spawns? After getting the artichoke from Meri, I keep only seeing Meri and am getting the artichoke scene over and over.
hpkumo 23 Mar @ 2:17pm
do you need to meet any certain prerequisites for the blue egg to spawn
Altotas  [author] 14 Mar @ 7:22am
If you have a save before that moment you can install my overhaul mod, pretty sure I fixed that bug there.
Altotas  [author] 14 Mar @ 7:21am
rig might've missed that bug in 1.5.
inkpalace 14 Mar @ 7:10am
I only ever interacted with the grey face door (chess piece) outside of the angelic room, but still didn't get the I've seen all good people achievement. is it bugged worse now?? and yes, i have exhausted all interactions.
Mr.Moffia 11 Mar @ 8:55pm
For some reason, the purple tinted faces door #2 acts like the standard wooden door for me, taking me to a random floor. I have the artichoke, and Ori is still alive; does completing Meri's arc interfere with the scene between Ori and Meri?
inkpalace 7 Mar @ 2:10pm
do you have to have flirted with Mel previously in order to access the final rusted door and Jophiel's ending? I'm realizing i may have to start a new save file.
beem 25 Feb @ 12:06pm
Got it. For those who are also stuck on this achievement: once you have The Hand Drill look for that Guest character described below. After the cutscene look for Gomi and go with her to visit him. That's how I got it at least.
beem 25 Feb @ 11:32am
I have all the items now so I guess I'll try and look out for him on the same save. Thanks a lot! :demoticon:
