Assuming none of the other changes I've made are playing into this, the following should be all you need to change.

Find the File named BaseEngine.ini
\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Alice Madness Returns\Engine\Config

Open the file and find the Line Fullscreen=True
Replace this line with the following:
Windowed=True
Borderless=True

You should now be able to windows key or alt tab out without the game minimizing and struggling to pop back up.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
So far this seems to only change it for one game session. Opening the game a second time after making this change shows that this setting is being converted back somehow (despite the settings not have been changed in the above mentioned file)... so for now you'll need to open the BaseEngine.ini file and click save each time before launching to keep it windowed borderless until a more permanent solution can be found. I recommend keeping a shortcut to it while playing though.
