  • You can only upgrade weapons, helmets, body armour, and boots
  • There are two sets of upgrading materials depending on whether the armour is legendary (yellow outline) or not, but the upgrade bonus is the same
  • It is possible to accidentally upgrade your gear to require a higher level than your character currently is, at which point it becomes unusable until you meet the requirement again
  • Equipment in Guild storage can be upgraded at a blacksmith, but upgrade materials have to be on your character
  • Some upgrade materials may also be required for quests

Exceptions and Other Comments
  • The Cosmos Crown sets its defence value to the character's level, so while it can be upgraded, there is no benefit to doing so
  • If a piece of equipment doesn't have a level requirement, upgrading it will not add one, meaning that the number of times it can be upgraded is only restricted by the amount of materials available however other stat requirements may change if you leave and return to the game later
  • There are a limited number of strange rocks in the game, one of which is required as part of a possible quest, however, there is also only one set of legendary boots in the game, which have a minimum level requirement of 16
