Welcome to Webfishing!

A fun, cozy, wholesome (mostly!), and social game on Steam.

While this is an amazing game, there are few common issues you might run into while playing.

I've listed some of the more common issues and glitches with some solutions to try.

Don't panic, there's things we can try!

Sometimes when playing, you might notice everyone including yourself is missing your name or title over your head.

To restore names and titles, press H and press it again until the names and titles come back.

Please note: Some players have empty/blank names or don't use titles. This is normal and fine. Some users have a Steam name with special characters that won't show up in most games including Webfishing. Just because somebody doesn't have a name or title, that does not make them a hacker. A quick check of their Steam profile will show you why their name appears this way in-game. Look for special characters and symbols, fonts, emojis, or languages.

This is another common glitch in Webfishing.

This usually occurs when you started your first game in an offline/solo lobby.

You'll find yourself trying to join public or friend's lobbies, but they can't see you or your messages and vice versa. You might also notice that everyone's ping is 0 and not changing.

If you just played an offline/solo lobby, please quit the game entirely and load back in to select a public or friend's lobby.

Then they should be able to see you and your messages and vice versa.

I call this the bag glitch or bag lag.

You do NOT need to exit the game/lobby you're in to fix this bug!

To "fix" this issue, simply bring up your bag/inventory (press tab), close it, and try using your item/lure again.

It won't always fix it the first time, but after a few tries of opening your bag and closing it, it'll fix it.

You can usually tell when the glitch is happening because there will be a "ghost" image of your bag remaining at the bottom of the screen even when you've closed it.

Update:
This issue appears to have been fixed in an update.
If it happens again, try this method again and/or press Esc to bring up the menu, then close that.

If you find that you're suddenly getting low fps, the game seems laggy, unresponsive, slow, or "framey" while it had been working fine for awhile, consider and check the following.

This issue is more likely to occur with the more people you have in a lobby.

If this is a frequent issue, try lowering the amount of people who can enjoy your lobby.

Another possible cause is there's somebody in your lobby with really high latency/ping.

An option to try in this instance, remove the player with the highest ping. (Anything over 200 is getting bad, 500+ is very bad!)

Please be polite when removing people for those reasons. Don't assume somebody is a hacker because they have a high ping. They most likely have bad internet or are very far from you.

0 ping while also too good to be true, usually means the player hasn't loaded in fully or either have you if you've just arrived. Give it a minute to register.

These are completely different issues entirely and not related to the above issues.

If you find yourself in a situation where you have no fishing rods to fish with, are soft-locked, have items you can't get rid or your save file is corrupt, please use this tool to restore your save file.

It's best to just edit it to a state that restores your game to what it was before the issue started.

It's also a good idea to regularly back up your game save just in case.

How often? As often as you'd like or after major milestones.

If you find yourself unable to load the game after it previously working fine, please consider the following.

Was the game just patched?

If so, disable all mods you might be using and try loading in the game vanilla.

A lot of times after an update, mods will break or be come deprecated/redundant.

If disabling ALL mods doesn't help or if you can reach the title screen, but your save file is missing, your save might've been corrupted.

Don't panic! First check your save slot in the upper right of the screen and select the correct save!

If this doesn't work, use a save back up (get in the habit of backing up your saves manually) or with the assistance of your mod manager like HLS.

When out of options, use the save file editor listed in the previous section or contact the dev on their website for assistance.

Other fixes for not being able to load in game might require you to verify the integrity of the game.

Right click game in library or click the gear icon in the upper right > properties > installed files > verify integrity of game files

Hopefully this helps you fix your problems without needing to quit the current lobby/game.
