Base Building
  • Ideally, your base should be located near water, a road, and somewhat flat with a lot of trees nearby.
  • Do not spend too much time worrying about the placement of items. You can dismantle and get the resources back.
  • Be prepared to have multiple camps. It seems like the map is too large to explore one side and make it back in time for sundown.
  • Leave a few tree stumps in or near your base to act as a forge.
  • Try to surround your camp with Logs and Thick Logs to keep predators out.
Wildlife
  • Animals in the game so far include: brown bear, black bear, boar, coyote, deer, rabbit, wolf.
  • Bears, coyotes, and wolfs are aggressive and will attack once they notice you.
  • Boars are passive until attacked.
  • Deer and rabbit will always flee.
  • Use fire to keep animals away.

Food, Drinks, & Consumables
  • A blight infection will reduce your stats. This debuff worsens as you come into contact with more blight.
  • Pine nuts are the best early game food source though they will increase thirst slightly but won't give you blight.
Crafting & Repairing
  • Your default tools can be repaired up to 50% with the small chunk of sandstone.
  • The spear can also be repaired with the knife.
  • Herbs do not have a spoil timer. Mushrooms, blueberries, meat, fat, and hide do.
Death
  • In multiplayer mode, death has consequences. You lose everything you were carrying and respawn randomly on the map. You can locate your corpse and loot your old items.
  • Your stats and axe/knife durability are reduced.
  • Falling trees kill!

re food: fishing is best as dead fish do not add blight (might be a bug)
1) use fish trap and caught fishes.
2) keep them in inventory until their condition goes to 0 - they will not rotten, they will die
3) slice them into fillets
4) cook/smoke

@Lloyd_Marshall It's a bug or a feature in RL?

so the falling trees killing you is a feature not a bug? That's good to know.

brown bear is not afraid of camp fire and does very quick 30 damage.
Browns are afraid so you can actually spear them until they take no more damage that way as they run back and forth, then knife them as they keep cirlcing back and forth.

I think the fire thing is specific to brown bears.

The information regarding death only applies in coop. In single player, you have to load a save upon dying.
