  • This guide is only for the Enhanced Edition version of the game.
  • This guide is strictly based on my own meticulous, methodical playthrough; I have not used any other guides or referred to websites for creating this. No part of this guide may be copied or reproduced to other guides or sites. Shortcut links and references are fine.
  • This is the first guide I have ever made and hopefully it will help others enjoy this great game as much as I did.
  • I am open to corrections for the guide, please post them and I will fix any issues.
  • I am open to suggestions for the guide, but I’m not sure how much more work I really want to put into it, a lot of effort/time has already been put in.
  • I’ve organized and worded the walkthroughs to be basically 100% free of story spoilers; I explain where to go and what to do, but not what happens.
  • The NPCs in the game refer to the cardinal directions for telling you where to go, so I followed this same method in the guide. I.E. North is the top center of your screen, Northeast is the top right corner of your screen, East is the right center of your screen, etc.
General Tips, Tricks, and Suggestions
  • Achievement hunters must play the game on Expert difficulty, but I would go as far as to say everyone should give it a try, even on the first playthrough. It’s the only difficulty I’ve tried and it really wasn’t hard at all. I only did minimal grinding and rarely needed to use/craft potions; it’s not a hard game.
  • There is very little customization for the characters, just a few stat options at level up. The four characters are straightforward, standard RPG classes: tank, physical DPS, magical DPS, and healer. Here are my personal thoughts on the stats:
    • Power: This is the go-to stat that you should put every spare point in. It boosts physical damage, magical damage, and healing – it matters for every character. If the below three are satisfied, always go for Power.
    • Defense: Don’t underestimate this stat; I ignored it early on thinking my Tank had it covered, but you’ll eventually get to bosses that do AoE attacks that can one-shot a character that doesn’t have enough defense (HP). I found defense far more effective than the random chance of dodging. My rule of thumb was this: for Tank I would keep Defense twice the Power (I.E. 200 DEF = 100 PWR), and for all the other characters I would keep it reversed (I.E. 100 DEF = 200 PWR).
    • Agility: I would bump this up just enough to keep my turns before the enemy. Whenever I got to a new area and the enemies jumped ahead of me, add on a few more points. I tried stacking a lot of Agility on physical DPS at the beginning and it just didn’t do much. Critical hits and dodging were just so random and unreliable that I quicky defaulted back to PWR/DEF. If you stack it really high the crits and dodges get pretty regular, but you spend the entire game gritting your teeth whenever it misses, a lot, until you get up there.
    • Wisdom: I would bump this up just enough to keep me using skills/spells every turn without having to resort to inferior regular attacks.
  • Resources, like ore, thread, dust, flora, and fish, will randomly give either a quantity of 1 or 2 upon harvesting. I kept track of my run and it seems to be about a 50/50 chance. There is a relic that boosts this amount up to a chance for 3.
  • Water loot will typically give a random number of coins. Rarely you’ll find an ingot and there is a relic that can improve the loot, which I’m assuming just means more coins or maybe more ingots.
  • Fairy Circles unlock at the start of Chapter Two of the main story, before that they don’t do anything.
  • I encourage speaking to all the NPCs, they provide some lore about the main characters and the world of Ara Fell that can increase the quality of the story, but definitely not required. After some of the main story beats, their dialog can change to reflect it.
  • Any items I list below in the quest walkthroughs or location details that have an asterisk (*) mean they are used for achievement completion.
  • There are several levels of Potion Recipes you need to purchase to learn potion crafting and they are available at most merchants.
  • Merchants are identified by a coin icon over them, healers are identified by a “C” icon over them (remove injuries and reset stats), quest givers are identified by a “!” icon over them, and quest targets are identified by a “?” icon over them.
Achievements (General)
Herbalist (Harvest 100 gathering nodes.)
Harvestable nodes will have identifying sparkles, including ore in walls/rocks, flowers/plants, and dust piles on the ground, etc. There are probably thousands of resource nodes, and you need these items to upgrade gear to advance through the game, it’s easy.

Team Zissou (Dive for fish or loot 30 times.)
Water areas will sometimes have swimming fish or expanding circles (water loot), there are probably hundreds of these, it’s easy.

Vampire Slayer (Defeat a vampire in battle.)
This will happen automatically partway into Chapter Two of the main story.

Savior of Aloria (Break the stone curse.)
This will happen automatically towards the end of Chapter Two of the main story.

Specialist (Unlock a specialization class for every character.)
Finish the four Class Quests (see walkthroughs below) that become available towards the end of Chapter Two of the main story.

Disabler (Have 8 debuffs active at once on an enemy.)
Multiple stacks of the same debuff will count towards the 8 total. An easy method to get this is have Adrian Taunt/Mark and have Seri Kesu use her special ability Elemental Burst, upgraded to Option 2: Elemental Overload after Class Quest, which stacks every elemental debuff at once.

Armed to the Teeth (Upgrade every item to tier 4.)
You’ll need to harvest/buy many resources to achieve this, but it’s almost necessary to keep your stats up to par with the enemy strength anyway. I achieved it early in the final chapter.

Brimming With Magic (Fill all 16 echantment slots.)
You’ll need to find enchantment recipes (see The Joy of Enchanting achievement below), upgrade the four accessory items all the way to IV, and then fill slots I, II, III, and IV on each character.

Unlock ALL the Teleports! (Unlock every teleport crystal.)
These will become available as you progress through the story, just activate them once to unlock each:
  • Aloria: southwest of the map inside the Great Bazaar.
  • Springs: northwest of the map inside Hannah’s Herb and Potion Shop.
  • Quarry: south center of the map, inside the closest cave to the south exit, northwest a bit.
  • Castle Atana: center area, west of castle, inside the Library.
  • Seremai Plains: center area, southeast of entrance, inside cave.
  • Blood Forest: southeast corner inside cave.
  • Apple Orchards: northwest corner, inside cave.
  • Orlian Village: northeast corner, out in the open.
  • Holy Land: south area, west side, beside Talani out in the open.
  • Talani’s Shop: when entering North Starway from Hunting Range, go directly west and enter her shop.
  • Silvara: northeast corner inside the Temple.
  • Eldrinor: just inside the ruin’s entrance.

Bounty Hunter (Complete every bounty quest.)
Defeat the four bounties assigned by Toran in Aloria Ranger’s Guild (see Bounties walkthroughs below).

Might of the Abyss (Deal over 5000 damage to a single target in one hit.)
I didn’t get this until the final boss battle and it seemed like the battle was setup to achieve this specifically, kind of like a “beat the game” achievement.

Support Expert (Have 8 buffs active at once on an ally.)
Multiple stacks of the same buff will count towards the 8 total. If you specialize Lita’s Elven Focus skill with Option 1, she can get up to 5+ stacks of damage boost during a long boss battle with multiple AoE attacks and then use Doren to give some healer buffs (his skills can be specialized to provide multiple buffs as well).

Lore Seeker (Complete every side quest.)
See Side Quest section below for walkthroughs, I cover them all.

End Game (Reach level 50 with at least one character.)
During my playthrough I achieved this just as I was starting the final area, easy to get just by leveling up with mild grinding through the main story. I finished the game at level 53 for all characters.

Master Tactician (Win every battle on Expert difficulty.)
Start and finish the game on Expert difficulty. I only played on Expert difficulty and I didn’t find it that hard; it just requires minimal extra grinding to keep your strength equivalent to the enemy. There was only one real difficulty spike that I came across that required some substantial grinding, entering the main part of Cave of Life, other than that just fighting every enemy as you traverse maps was pretty much enough.
Achievement (Skills)
Skillful (Upgrade and augment every skill)
This involves using class stones (Archer, Warrior, Magic, Bard) to upgrade each character’s skills and then using Exotic stones to augment them. Class stones can be found throughout the land (you can find enough for free to finish this achievement) or occasionally bought from Talani’s Shop later in the game. Exotic stones can be harvested from red crystal resource nodes, acquired from Class Quests, or bought from many places – these are abundant. I actually logged the location of every class stone (lucky you!):
  • Archer Stones (one extra)
    • Reward from Percy, Idiot main story quest (can’t be missed).
    • Reward from Archery Contest main story quest (can’t be missed).
    • Found on the ground inside Cave of Life (main part accessed during main story quest).
    • Found on the ground inside the cave pathway between Dian’s Gully (East) and Holy Land (North).
    • Found on the ground at Holy Land (North).
    • Found on the ground inside the cave just northeast of Talani’s Shop in North Starway.
  • Warrior Stones
    • Aloria, Mister Arger’s basement, “Secret” Cave (arrow pointing at wall). Early main story quest area.
    • South Starway, after beating Bounty II (Side Quest), inside treasure room open the center chest.
    • At the start of main story quest Chapter Three, Castle Atana dungeon, The Deep, found on the ground behind the left barrier door.
    • Hunting Range, southeast corner, enter cave and use a bomb on the crack in the north wall, crawl through and found on ground.
    • Found on the ground at Holy Land (South).
  • Magic Stones (two extras)
    • Found on the ground in the Cave of Life (main part accessed during main story quest), southeast caves, east side.
    • Atana Castle, upstairs area, northwest door, search the door-shaped section of northwest wall for secret area, found on the ground.
    • Atana Castle, dungeon after breaking free from cell, return to cells and go up the northeast stairs, use bomb on northeast cracked wall, AGAIN use bomb on north cracked wall, found on the ground.
    • Seremai Plains, Loni’s Flute Cave in the northeast, found on the ground.
    • Blood Forest, Arei Ruins, through the gold locked door, through the large door opening, far east, then north to left of door in wall, activate wall with lighter ground in front of it, found on the ground.
    • Found on the ground at Dian’s Gully (East).
    • Found on the ground inside the cave pathway between Dian’s Gully (East) and Holy Land (North).
  • Bard Stones (one extra)
    • Aloria, Great Bazaar, break the stone curse on the statue partway through main story quest Chapter Two and go down stairs to find on the ground.
    • Found on the ground in the Cave of Life (main part accessed during main story quest), through released barrier, north through two caves, then north over bridge and two stairs, then west.
    • Atana Castle, dungeon after breaking free from cell, return to cells and go up the northeast stairs, use bomb on northeast cracked wall, found on the ground.
    • Dian’s Gully (West), go just south from Cave of Life exit, start Down the Well (Side Quest), go down the well, enter the northwest cave, found on the ground.
    • Found on the ground at Angel City (Holy Land southeast).

Achievement (Relics)
Antiquities Collector (Collect every relic.)
Relics are acquired by various means throughout the game, listed below by area:
  • Aloria
    • Magic Apple: south center area, speak to the girl in an apple tree. Catch all 10 apples for the relic as a reward.
    • Bread: purchase from Baker (Merchant) for 100 Coins inside the Great Bazaar.
    • Cake: purchase from Baker (Merchant) for 5000 Coins inside the Great Bazaar.
    • Goblet: purchase from Shopkeeper (Merchant) for 6000 Coins inside the Great Bazaar.
    • Charm: after getting Bombs (Quest Item) from Arger’s House, use on cracked wall inside the Inn, open chest inside.
    • Protector: finish all the bounties (Bounty I, Bounty II, Bounty III, Bounty IV – see walkthroughs below).
  • South Starway
    • Arrowhead: northeast corner of map, left cave of the three openings. Swim east, then swim south, open chest.
    • Scale: use the Fairy Circle beside Armire’s Cave entrance and fly to the Fairy Circle to the southeast. Enter the cave, go down the stairs and open the left chest.
  • Springs
    • Horn: southwest exit of map, (past level 25 wasps) south into the cave, activate the wall beside the pointing arrow, open the left chest.
  • Seremai Plains
    • Necklace: reward for completing The Necklace (Side Quest – see walkthrough below).
  • Hunting Range
    • Compass: north/center edge of map, swim in water to secret area, swim around land, then east, open chest.
    • Tablet: northeast corner of map, enter ruins opening, activate the northwest wall beside flower resource, walk through, and open chest.
  • Blood Forest
    • Quill: south section of forest, north center of map, up slopes and north along grass path to secret area, open chest.
  • Arei Ruins
    • Pendant: enter the first door, slightly north of the entrance along the east wall, go northeast past Talani, through any of the three doors, go slightly west and activate the wall between the two pillars, enter and open chest.
  • Castle Atana
    • Scroll: must progress through the main story to Chapter Three, inside the dungeon, northeast stairs down to The Deep, activate the north wall with the pointing arrow, open the left chest.
  • Orlian Village
    • Codex: purchase in general store for 7000 Coins.
  • Holy Land
    • Doll: go to the south section of Holy Land, west to the First Steps area, then all the way south, open chest.
  • North Starway
    • Ruby Strand: use Fairy Circle beside Talani’s Shop, fly straight north, land at Fairy Circle, go into cave, open chest.
  • Silvara
    • Talon: purchase in general store for 10000 Coins.
Achievement (Enchantments)
The Joy of Enchanting (Collect every enchantment recipe.)
Enchanting recipes are acquired by various means throughout the game, listed below by area:
  • Aloria
    • Immortality I: Lita’s House, open chest (downstairs).
    • Knowledge I: purchased from Old Garn (Merchant) in Great Bazaar for 200 Coins. (pretty sure this is free from a chest somewhere in South Starway or Quarry maps, but I had already purchased) (If you purchase, the chest will have 200 Coins instead, so there is no difference where you get it)
    • Invulnerability I: purchased from Revy the Smith (Merchant) in Great Bazaar for 200 Coins. (or found free at Hunting Range map)
    • Impenetrability I: purchased from Revy the Smith (Merchant) in Great Bazaar for 200 Coins. (or found free at Quarry map later in story)
    • Deadly Strikes I: purchased from Revy the Smith (Merchant) in Great Bazaar for 200 Coins. (or found free at Quarry map later in story)
    • Quickness I: reward for finishing Upgrades! (Side Quest).
    • Corruption I: during story quest, enter Mister Arger’s basement, activate the wall beside the pointing arrow, open the chest.
    • Greed: Great Bazaar, break the stone curse on the statue partway through Chapter Two and go down stairs, open the chest.
  • South Starway
    • Power I: Armire’s Cave, in left chest of treasure room after defeating Armire (Bounty II).
  • Hunting Range
    • Invulnerability I: northwest corner of map, open chest (if not already purchased at Aloria Great Bazaar).

    • Luck: enter the first door, slightly north of the entrance along the east wall, go northeast past Talani, through any of the three doors, go just northeast, climb either stairs, open chest.
  • Quarry
    • Deadly Strikes I: just northeast of exit to South Starway, up right-side ladder, enter Statue Cave, break the stone curse on the statue partway through Chapter Two and open the chest (if not already purchased at Aloria Great Bazaar).
    • Impenetrability I: at the end of Chapter Two open the chest in the hideout (if not already purchased at Aloria Great Bazaar).
  • Cave of Life (Lost Lands)
    • Knowledge II: follow Doren’s Class Quest, inside the Temple, go west, then go north through the waterway, open the chest.
  • Castle Atana
    • Immortality II: guard cave just west of castle, open chest.
    • Immortality III: follow main story quests to Chapter Three, in Castle Atana dungeon, go to northwest cell and open the chest.
    • Refreshment I: follow main story quests to Chapter Three, in Castle Atana dungeon, go up the northeast stairs and open the chest.
    • Quickness II: follow main story quests to Chapter Three, in Castle Atana dungeon, in The Deep, behind the second barrier door, towards the northeast corner, open the secret door (darker colored wall) and open the left chest.

  • Cave of Life (Main Area)

    • Deadly Strikes III: enter Holy Land, go south, then east to Angel City, go to far southwest corner and open chest.
  • North Starway
    • Siphoning II: just before Silvara, enter cave, reward from boss for Bounty III (Side Quest).

    • Abyssal Taint: follow main story quests to near the end of Chapter Five, Eldrinor, northwest corner behind trees, open chest.
Main Story Walkthrough
The main story is broken down into chapters and a sequence of quests provide direction. Spoiler free!
Prologue
  • The game will start out in basically a tutorial dungeon. It’s fairly linear and teaches you the basics of getting around areas, interacting with items, and combat. It also sets up the plot for the rest of the game.
  • Go to the east side and activate the rock wall for a secret door to enter.
  • Optional: there is a resource mode (crystal rock) – tutorial conversation for gathering.
  • Continue forward for a tutorial about jumping over small gaps and broken stairs, with a tutorial quest to follow.
  • Make a Potion (Tutorial)
  • Gather items:
    • Oil, Fish: jump up broken stairs, go north, swim in water, activate directly over swimming fish.
    • Magic, Stardust: crawl though west opening and activate key on ground for tutorial combat with loot and to gain Key, Normal (Quest Item).
    • Flora, Angelflower: continue past the Magic, Stardust area, then through the next area, and then you’ll get a cutscene and gather the flower.
  • Crafting (Tutorial)
    • Return to Adrian and talk to him, use “Crafting” menu to make “Potion, Mending”, then talk to him again to finish.
  • Jump up broken stairs, go north, swim in water, swim north, and activate the locked door (Key, Normal (Quest Item) will automatically be used).
  • The center door has magic shield barrier that needs disabled by a switch up the northeast stair.
    • Note: if playing Expert difficulty, I recommend grinding Lita to at least 3rd level for First Aid skill. Maybe both characters another level for survivability, but I did barely manage the fight at 4th/3rd levels.
  • Activate the switch to initiate tutorial combat. After beating the boss, the magic shield barrier will automatically be disabled.
  • Trivia: up the northwest stair has a wall that can be activated, but doesn’t do anything.
  • Continue through the released barrier door and activate the shrine to continue story. (Point of no Return - cutscene)
  • There is a bridge to the south with another magic shield barrier, so go up north stairs, jump up the next stairs, activate the skeleton for some dialog and then activate the switch to dispel the magic shield.
  • Go across the bridge and along path for a story cutscene.
  • Chest (top right): 50 Coins
  • Jump the bridge.
  • Resources: (1) Ore, Crystal
  • Enter the door and activate ring on table to continue story.
  • Go through secret door.
  • Resources: (1) Ore, Crystal
  • Climb in hole for cutscene. (Start Chapter One)
Chapter One
  • Go downstairs and speak to Lita’s mother at the northwest corner of the house.
  • Exit the house, then go east over two bridges, and there will be a cutscene providing the first story quest.
Percy, Idiot
Source: Automatic when approaching the temple.
  • Go inside the temple to the northeast and speak with Adrian.
  • Leave the temple and go all the way southeast to Arger’s House in the corner.
  • Open the southwest chest for Bombs (Quest Item) and activate the crack in the wall at the northeast, then crawl through.
  • Continue through the next area and then enter the cave below.
  • Mister Arger will be standing near the center and you must avoid his line of sight, basically moving around the outer perimeter of the map.
  • There is a locked door in the north wall that must be opened with 3 levers:
    • Southwest of map in the open, activate lever.
    • South center of map, activate lever.
    • Jump over east broken bridge, climb up the ladder, crawl inside the opening, and open chest for Lantern (Quest Item).
      • Climb down ladder, use bomb on crack in wall, crawl inside for puzzle:
      • 3 red buttons need pressed in right combination (center & right). Can be pressed and unpressed as much as needed to get right combination.
      • Activate lever that appears.
  • Note: if playing Expert difficulty, I recommend grinding both characters at least to 7th level.
  • Enter the door to the north. (Point of no Return - boss battle)
  • Activate white cat (Percy).
  • Activate Adrian.
Transition: This quest will automatically complete in the quest log and the quest Strange Contact begins.

Strange Contact

  • Go to Adrian’s House just west of Mister Arger’s House.
  • Speak to robed, red-eyed figure (question mark).
Transition: This quest will automatically complete in the quest log and the quest Archery Contest begins.

Archery Contest

  • Leave Aloria at northwest corner, cross the South Starway either north (Quarry) or east (Springs), to Castle Atana, then southeast to Seremai Plains.
  • In Seremai Plains proceed southeast and interact with the Contest Organizer (question mark). (Point of No Return - cutscene)
Reward: 200 Coins; *Stone, Archer (Treasure/Skill Upgrade)
Transition: This quest will disappear from the quest log and become The Hunt is on!.

The Hunt is on!

  • Leave Seremai Plains (northwest exit), west through Atana Castle map, northwest through Quarry Map, and take northwest exit to Hunting Range map. (alternatively teleport from Seremai Plains crystal to Quarry crystal if previously unlocked)
  • Upon entering the Hunting Range map there is a conversation.
  • There are three areas on the map that need to be entered for cutscene sequences, it doesn’t matter which order you choose, the story progresses the same (Note: after the second cutscene you probably want to avoid any battles):
    • Southeast area – from Quarry exit, go east over log bridge, southeast down stairs, east over bridge, and then up/down stairs.
    • North area - from Quarry exit, go slightly right, north over log bridge, north along left-side path up little stairs, north over bridge, and along northeast path.
    • Northeast area - from Quarry exit, go slightly right, north over log bridge, north along right-side path, east over bridge and all the way northeast.
Note: This quest will disappear from the quest log and become both An Elven Ghost and The Artifacts (on hold for now).

An Elven Ghost

  • Go back to the southwest exit to the Quarry map.
    • Warning: finish any exploring/grinding you might want to do first as the story will become fairly linear and limited for a while. You can come back later on, so nothing will be missed, but it will be a little while.
    • Note: the Teleport Crystals are disabled.
  • Go south and east to the south exit to the South Starway.
  • Go all the way south and a cutscene will happen on the bridge before the exit to Aloria.
  • Continue on south to Aloria for another cutscene.
Note: This quest will disappear from the quest log and become The Stone Curse.

The Stone Curse

  • Take the north exit to South Starway and go all the way north to the north Quarry exit. (alternatively teleport from Aloria crystal in the Great Bazaar to Quarry crystal if previously unlocked)
  • Enter the cave opening just to the northwest and go all the way north, then west to the collapsed opening for a cutscene.
  • Crawl under the slanted beam, walk/swim north, and enter the doorway. (Point of No Return - cutscene) (Start Chapter Two)
  • After interacting with anything you want, activate the bed upstairs for more cutscenes.
  • Continue through the various cutscenes and follow directions.
  • Finish the Fairy Circle tutorial (fly west and activate blue Fairy Circle).
Note: this quest will complete and you switch to the previously acquired quest The Artifacts.
Chapter Two (Part 1)
The Artifacts

  • After another cutscene you regain control in the north central area of the Quarry map.
  • Trivia: you can go right back down into the Quarry Cave to where the cutscenes took place for two brief dialogs. Not really worth it, but just in case you enjoy speaking with NPCs.
  • Go west to the Blood Forest exit.
  • Note: the battles here are brutal with only Lita. Even grinding levels won’t really help while being outnumbered with lower defense. It’s best to avoid any fights by carefully moving around the wandering enemies until you reach the Arei Ruins.
  • There are three gated paths deeper into Blood Forest, you need to go to the center one and pull the blue switch. All three gates open and the paths join up.
  • Go to the far northwest corner and take the path to the next Blood Forest map.
  • Go northeast to the Fairy Circle and fly across north to the other Fairy Circle. (Hint: while flying you can scout the entire map safely)
  • Go a little north and a cutscene will happen.
  • Continue northeast and take the path into the ruins.
  • Note: the battles here are still difficult without a tank, but can be managed. Once you gain another level or two it becomes fairly easy.
  • Go north past the memorials and then to the east wall where a door outline can be seen and activate it.
Brazier Puzzle
  • You will need to find four torches and use them to light the four braziers in the northwest room. There are two in this area and two in the next area. It’s easiest going to the next area first:
    • From the entrance, go east and then turn north past Talani. Open any of the three doors (goes to same exact place).
    • Go east and then go south; the torch is to the east between the bed and table. A fight will automatically happen.
    • Now go north between the two stairs, then east to the room and find the torch there. A fight will automatically happen.
    • Return to the first area through the three doors, go south and then turn west past Talani. Turn north and then climb down the ladder into the water. Swim southwest, climb out and activate torch on top of the skeleton. A fight will automatically happen.
    • Jump back into the water and swim to the ladder to climb out. Go west and north, crawling under the spiderweb into the brazier room. Pick up the torch beside the braziers. A fight will automatically happen.
  • Light all four braziers and a Key, Normal (Quest Item) will fall just to the north of the braziers. Pick it up and continue past the three doors again.
  • Return to and go through the three doors, this time going west down the hallway. In this room are five locked doors, with the center having a shield barrier on it.
Room Puzzles
  • Each room has a puzzle that will provide another key, so you will unlock the first room with the key you have, solve the puzzle, then go to next room and repeat. After solving each room, a light above the door will illuminate, indicating which rooms you have already completed. The final room completed will also release the shield barrier on the center door. The order you do them doesn’t matter, but for this guide we will start on the left side and go in order to the right side.
    • Door 1 (farthest left). There are four red buttons, similar to Mister Arger’s cave switch puzzle, and a note on the wall providing a hint for the puzzle. From left to right the four buttons will be: leave alone / press / leave alone/ press. Take the Key, Normal (Quest Item) that appears and go back to next door.
    • Door 2 (second from left). This puzzle has no hints, but there are three braziers that can be moved and three angel symbols on the ground with weird pit shapes around them. The goal is to move each brazier over an angel symbol. The braziers can only be moved in one direction at a time, so the method would be: activate it, push/pull in that direction, release it, move to next side/direction, and activate it again, etc. The note on the wall will allow you to reset the puzzle at any time and start over. I found the easiest order to be this (but it’s not the only way):
      • Push the center brazier east one square, then pull it south four squares, walk around to the east side, and then push it west onto the left angel.
      • Pull the right brazier west one square, go around to the north side and then push it south three squares, and then go around to the east side and push it west two squares (PAST the center angel).
      • Pull the left brazier east two squares, go around it to the west side, and then push it east one more square. Go around to the north side and push it south three squares. Go around to the west side and push it east one square onto the right angel.
      • Pull the middle brazier one square east onto the middle angel.
      • The braziers will light up and a key will appear. Take the Key, Normal (Quest Item) and go back to the next door.
    • Door 4 (second from right). Again, there are no hints for this puzzle. Go down the stairs and notice the blue switch and red statue. This is a timed race in the form of an obstacle course. There are two series of gaps to jump and two series of spiderwebs to crawl under (continuing to crawl under them all is too slow, you will need to crawl/run/crawl/run to beat the time). When the blue switch is activated, there will be a three second countdown and the red statue will appear between you and the switch, which starts the race timer. Now go west and jump over each of the gaps. Go north, crawling under each of the spiderwebs, then running between them. Go east and jump over each of the gaps. Go south, crawling under both of the spiderwebs, then running between them. Go southeast past the stairs and brazier to stand on the sigil, which completes the race. You are teleported back to the starting point with a short dialog and the key appears. Take the Key, Normal (Quest Item) and go back to the next door.
    • Door 5 (farthest right). There are four magic symbols on the ground and a note on the wall providing a hint for the puzzle. Each magic symbol needs to be activated to change colors; they can be cycled through all the colors. From left to right the circles need to be: Red, Yellow, Blue, Purple. Take the Key, Normal (Quest Item) that appears and go back to the next door.
    • Door 3 (center door). The shield barrier is now gone and the door can be unlocked. Open the chest to receive the Key, Gold (Quest Item).
Chapter Two (Part 2)
  • Pass by the gold locked door for now. From the three doors, go northeast and climb up either stairs.
  • Read the book, activate the brazier, and pull/push it into the light (it can only move in one direction at a time, you need to release and re-activate to move in a different direction). A door barrier beyond the gold locked door will be released.
  • Return to the three doors and unlock the north door with the gold lock. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
    • Expert Difficulty note: I barely did any grinding, just the forced battles and a few accidental wandering monsters, levels 13th/12th and aced the battle no problem.
  • Enter the large doorway and then try to go north, a cutscene will happen.
  • Go east (trying to go north will be blocked), past the locked door, go east, then the first north path, then go down stairs to west. Activate the skeleton for a Key, Normal (Quest Item).
  • Go back to the previous room, go south, then go east across bridge. Go northwest and activate the door to the northeast in the wall.
  • Go north, then west, for a cutscene (Point of no Return – boss battle). Fight very similar to previous, about the same difficulty.
  • Go west, then south though opening.
  • Open chest for Key, Normal (Quest, Item).
  • Activate the teleport sigil to appear back where the cutscene happened with locked door just to east.
  • Go east and unlock door. Go through and unlock next door (Point of no Return – boss battle). Fight similar to previous, slightly more difficult.
  • After the cutscene go back to the main Arei Ruins map (go west, south though opening, south through three doors, south, west at Talani, then south through the exit).
  • Go north and then the first west to the new area.
  • Activate the memorial for a cutscene.
  • Go east, back to the previous area, then north to the newly opened door. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
    • Expert Difficulty note: this was a tough battle with both characters at 14th level. It requires good timing with Elemental Blast and an upgraded First Aid used almost every turn.
  • After the fight, continue on through the southwest opening, go north, and activate the shrine for a lengthy cutscene.
  • Continue south through the southwest exit to Apple Orchards for another cutscene.
  • Go south, then east, then northeast to the South Starway exit.
  • Go southeast towards Aloria for another cutscene.
  • Continue south to Aloria for more cutscenes. (Note: a few of the NPCs dialogs changed if you’re into that kind of thing)
  • Leave Aloria by the northwest exit to South Starway for another cutscene.
  • Note: the game not-so-subtly advises you to take care of any quests, leveling, and upgrades before continuing. I highly recommend finishing each character’s Class Quest series to boost their skills and any available Side Quests. For the next part of the main story quest you’ll be facing some level 21 enemies, so you’ll need to get to around that level anyway. I finished all the quests with some light grinding and ended up at level 25 by the end.
  • When ready, go to Castle Atana and confront the two guards at the gate for a cutscene and non-boss battle.
  • Go into the castle, a little east to the pair of nobles, then up the center stairs, and speak to the guard for a cutscene.
  • Return when ready and speak to the guard again for another cutscene and battle. (Start Chapter Three)
Note: This quest will be on hold until completion of the next two quests.
Chapter Three
The Deep
Source: Automatic partway through The Artifacts when starting Chapter Three.
  • Activate the cell door for a conversation.
  • Go to the north wall, activate the cracked area, and go through the opening for a cutscene.
  • Return to the cell and activate Adrian.
  • Activate the Fairy Circle and fly to the east Fairy Circle.
  • Jump down the stairs, go south to the building, and go through the east door for a conversation.
  • Go down the west stairs for a cutscene.
  • Go to the north table and activate the gold key to get Atana Dungeon Key (Quest Item).
  • Go west and activate the chest.
  • Go through the southwest door and down the south path for another cutscene.
  • Go west and activate Doren’s prison cell for a conversation.
  • Go east and then down the stairs. Climb down the ladder into the water, swim all the way east, climb up the ladder, jump up the gap, go northwest, then south down the stairs, go west and activate the chest for a conversation.
  • Go north across the bridge and up the stairs, then go north for a conversation and non-boss battle.
  • Continue north up the stairs to the next area, go north jumping the gap and crawling under the slanted beam, go east and then go south down the stairs. Go southeast past the doors with magic barriers and through the southeast exit.
  • Go west, up the ladder, and north to activate the memorial for a cutscene.
    • Trivia: you use the item even though you have no inventory, including Quest Items.
  • Return all the way back to the chest between the bridges and continue east for a cutscene. Continue north for another cutscene and battle.
  • Return all the way back to the doors with magic barriers and activate either door to disable both barriers.
  • Go through the left door for a cutscene and continue north past Talani through the next door.
Prophesy/Painting Puzzle
  • This is a very convoluted area that interconnects, so here is the easiest way I found to complete each step:
    • From the entrance go directly up the first stairs, through the door and up the stairs to activate the bookshelf for Vampire Prophesy (Quest Item).
      • Go north up the stairs and enter either door. Activate the bookshelf for Vampire Prophesy (Quest Item) and activate the painting for Painting: Godlike (Quest Item).
      • Return to the entrance: all the way south.
    • From the entrance go northeast and then north up the three stairs for a battle (Point of no Return). Activate the dropped key for a Key, Normal (Quest Item).
    • Go back down the nearest stairs, go east, then south, then east, then turn south at the gold locked door down the stairs for a battle (Point of no Return). Activate the dropped key for a Key, Normal (Quest Item).
    • Go back up the stairs, then east, and then all the way north through the door. Activate the two paintings to get Painting: 4 Lights (Quest Item) and Painting: Candles (Quest Item).
    • Go through the door, all the way to the northwest, and then jump down the stairs. Activate the painting to get Painting: Night (Quest Item).
    • Jump down the south stairs, go south to the next room, and activate the bookshelf for Vampire Prophesy (Quest Item).
    • Go south out of the room, then just northeast to the next door and go through both rooms. Open chest for Key, Normal (Quest Item) and both bookshelves for Vampire Prophesy (Quest Item) (x2).
    • Go back south out of the rooms, then take the stairs beside the door all the way north and unlock the door and activate the two paintings to get Painting: Withered (Quest Item) and Painting: Artifacts (Quest Item).
    • Leave the room, go all the way east and unlock the door. Activate the bookshelf for Vampire Prophesy (Quest Item). Crawl under the spiderwebs up the north stairs and activate the two paintings to get Painting: Prophesy (Quest Item) and Painting: Refraction (Quest Item).
    • Crawl back down the stairs, then go southeast, crawling under the spear traps, then north through the door. Agree to enter for a boss battle and cutscene. Open the chest for Key, Gold (Quest Item).
    • Leave the room, back northwest past the spear traps, south out of the room, then go south/west/south/west back to the gold locked door. Unlock the door for the riddle puzzle!
    • Activate the memorial and then again to read the prophecy. The memorial refers to the paragraphs of the prophecy. The first paragraph is “Painting: Godlike,” the third paragraph is “Painting: Withered,” and the fifth paragraph is “Painting: Artifacts.” Place those on the stands, left to right, and the magic barrier door will release.
    • Leave the room, go east, then north, going up either stairs, north to the intersection, turn west, go past the previously opened door to unlock the next door and go through.
    • Go down the southwest stairs and press the light blue button, then go back up the stairs.
    • Go down the southeast stairs and press the light blue button, then go back up the stairs.
    • Go north for a cutscene and then through the released magic barrier door.
  • After the cutscene go northwest up the stairs for another cutscene and then north up the stairs to a battle.
  • Continue north through the opening. (Point of no Return - cutscene)
Transition: this quest will complete and you switch to the recently acquired quest Save the King.

Prophecy
Source: partway through The Deep when activating any sparkling bookshelf.
Note: this quest is completed automatically by proceeding through The Deep, by collecting all six Vampire Prophecy (Quest Item) shown above.

Save the King
Source: automatically near the end of The Deep.
  • Activate the Fairy Circle and fly a little bit to the southeast Fairy Circle.
  • Jump down the stairs and walk back to Castle Atana map. Note: Teleport Crystals are disabled.
  • Continue north for a cutscene, then enter the castle by the south door for another cutscene, then continue north. (Point of No Return – boss battle)
  • Continue through all the rooms. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
  • Go down either stairs, through either door, speak to the guards, then go through the door. (Point of no Return – cutscene) (Start Chapter Four)
Transition: this quest will complete and you switch back to The Artifacts.
Chapter Four
The Artifacts (Continued)
  • After the cutscenes return to the throne room and speak to the king.
  • Go to the Cave of Life at the southeast side of South Starway map and go along the now open north path.
  • Take the first east across the bridge, then keep going east over the next bridge, and turn south through the exit.
  • Go northeast, swim through the water, and enter the cave for a boss fight.
    • Expert Difficulty note: I did some serious grinding to reach level 31 for this fight and it was manageable then.
  • Push the red button, exit the lava cave, and climb up the ladder to enter the next cave.
  • Go north through the cave and open the chest for a Key, Normal (Quest Item) and then exit through the southwest.
  • Jump down, turn west and then immediately north to unlock the left door and speak with the masked man.
Note: This quest will be on hold until completion of The Summoning.

The Summoning
Source: Automatic partway through The Artifacts soon after starting Chapter Four.
  • Go back east, down the left stairs and then back up the right stairs, then activate the sparkling rock to enter the cave.
  • Go directly north, enter the door, get the Gem: Red (Quest Item) on the ground, and then step on the symbol.
  • Leave the room, go back south, a little west, and then south through the stairs. Enter the northwest door and get the Gem: Green (Quest Item) from the table.
  • Leave the room, go north up the stairs, then far west to the cave. Get the Gem: Blue (Quest Item) on the ground.
  • Leave the room, go a little east, then jump up the stairs north, and cross the wood bridge. Go north to unlock the door and speak with the old man.
  • Go back around to the west, through the released barrier door, through the northwest exit, and activate the sparkling sphere.
  • Exit north and follow the path around. Jump down the stairs and go northwest back to the masked man for a boss battle. (Point of no Return)
    • Expert difficulty note: I did some grinding to reach level 34 for this quest and it was still rough. I had to reload quite a few times and my successful run involved using Doren’s special move once when everyone was low on health and couldn’t heal, then I used Seri Kesu’s special move as soon as the first head died, which wiped out 3 more, then just burned the last 2 down. It was a nail biter for sure.
Note: this quest will complete and you switch back to The Artifacts.

The Artifacts (Continued)
  • Use the teleport symbol (or walk around if you’re feeling feisty), go back west, then north to go through the released barrier door.
  • Go through the next three fairly linear caves to enter Dian’s Gully.
  • Continue south through Dian’s Gully (linear) to enter Orlian Village.
  • Go east past the inn and then north to the temple.
  • Enter the temple and go directly north to speak with the priestess and she will give you Key, Orlian 2 (Quest Item). (These can be used on chests downstairs for loot)
  • Return to the Inn back at Orlian Village and speak to the innkeeper (question mark). (Point of no Return – cutscene / boss battle / cutscenes)
  • Return to Orlian Village and take the east exit with the sign to the Holy Lands.
  • Go northeast to the north exit and then north all the way to enter the Holy Lands.
  • Go south to either the southwest or southeast exits, then go west to the First Steps area, then south to the stairs for a cutscene.
Note: This quest will be on hold until completion of Fetch Quest!

Fetch Quest!
Source: Automatic partway through The Artifacts partway through Chapter Four.
  • Go east back through Holy Lands South and then southeast to Angel City.
  • Go northeast and activate the bracelet on the ground under the arch. (Point of no Return – quest area)
  • Take the path north, then east through the exit, south through the water, then up the stairs. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
  • Leave the room south, then go north to the next area, cross the new bridge going north, and then through the next area.
  • Go south over the bridge and then west over the bridge. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
  • Go east as shown through the released barrier opening, through the cave, and north up the stairs. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
  • Return to the fairy to complete the quest.
Note: this quest will complete and you switch back to The Artifacts.
Chapter Five
The Artifacts (Continued)
  • Go back through the northeast exit, a little east, and then north past the Teleport Crystal to enter Itora Grove. (Point of no Return – cutscenes)
  • After finishing all the cutscenes, go south for another cutscene. (Start Chapter Five)
  • Time to go all the way back to Hunting Range! Return to Orlian Village and use the Teleport Stone to travel to Quarry or Blood Forest and head north to Hunting Range, then all the way northwest to Silvara exit. (Note 1: you can also teleport to Talani’s Shop, if previously unlocked, and be right where you need to go.) (Note 2: You can also just walk the whole way if you’re into that sort of thing or forgot to activate the Teleport Stones.)
  • Go west and then try to cross the bridge for a non-boss battle.
  • Continue north along the North Starway, through several linear areas, and then go west at the sign where the path splits all the way to Silvara.
  • Circle west/north/east through Silvara and enter the temple in the northeast corner.
  • Speak to the dwarf and enter the secret door, continue through to the next room, and you’ll be told instructions for the puzzle.
Lever Puzzle
  • Note: initial dialog says 3 levers and a button, but speaking to him afterwards says 4 levers. There are actually 3 levers and a button.
  • Lever locations: northwest corner (jump stairs, climb up ladder), northeast corner (jump stairs), southeast corner (crawl through opening).
  • Push the button, then continue north along the tracks, then through the next four linear areas, climbing up the ladder and crossing the bridge at the top. Open the chest for a cutscene.
  • Use the teleport symbol, leave Silvara and continue east at the crossroads, east through Farmland, and then north through the ruins entrance.
  • This is the same map from the Prologue at the very beginning of the game, so just continue through it again until you go through the previously locked door.
  • Speak to the Dwarf (question mark) and then continue to the secret door. (It had a mysterious/foreshadowing message during the Prologue!)
  • Continue through the next two linear areas for cutscenes.
  • Go north for another cutscene and some instructions for the next puzzle.
Gold Key Puzzle & Statues
  • Go west and enter the door.
    • Activate the sparking stone just north of the door.
    • Go up the center to stairwells and pull the red levers in the following order from left to right: Up, Down, Down, Up.
    • Go north through either door, activate statues at west and east sides, then open the chest in the center for Key, Normal (Quest Item).
    • Go back south through the doors and then down the stairs, then west and unlock the door.
    • Go down either stairs inside the room and then go through the west exit, activate the statue.
    • Go back east, past the four stairs, through the east exit, and activate the statue.
    • Go back west and then down the south exit, through the next area, and activate the statue.
    • Return north. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
    • After receiving Key, Gold (Quest Item), use the teleport symbol to return back to first area.
  • Go east and enter the door.
    • Activate the statues at the entrance, northeast corner, and north center.
    • Go down either stair and activate the statues to the west, the east (inside lower room), and southeast corner.
    • Go to north center and open the chest for Key, Normal (Quest Item).
    • Unlock the south door and go south through the next area. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
    • Enter the cave beside the stairs and go north through the next area.
    • Use the Fairy Circle and fly to the northeast corner.
    • Go all the way south, open the chest to receive Key, Gold (Quest Item), and use the teleport symbol to return back to the first area.
  • Return to the center area and unlock the gold locked door, just south of Talani, for a cutscene.
  • Go through any of the three doors, then down the stairs, then south for a non-boss battle and a cutscene.
  • Continue south, then activate the statues in the northeast corner, southeast corner, and southwest corner.
  • Enter the cleared barrier door. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
  • Leave the room and go down the new stairs into the water, then crawl through the hole just to the east.
  • Go through the next two linear areas and activate the statue blocking your path for a cutscene.
  • Use the teleport symbol and go north through the only useable door for a cutscene.
  • Go through the north door. (Point of no Return – final boss battle)

Congratulations! Be sure and check out the Epilogue added to the main menu – it’s a touching finish to the story.

The Tower

  • Leave cave and go back towards the exit to South Starway, but go over the north bridge instead.
  • Talk to the soldier to gain access and enter the ruined tower.
    • Note: there is a chest on the fourth level, but it’s a TRAP. It has a level 15 boss, but it will need fought for a Class Quest.
  • Go up through the four levels, to the roof, and open the chest for Fertility Crystal (Quest Item).
  • Return to Mister Carver for the reward.
Reward: 3500 Experience; 1500 Coins

The Necklace
Source: Apple Orchards Map, Mister Carver’s Cave at northwest corner, Business Man.
  • Speak to the Business Man and agree; this will give you an Ancient Necklace (Quest Item) and enter the quest into your log.
  • Go to Seremai Plains, far northeast corner, and enter Loni’s Flute Cave.
  • Go along the north path and take the first west opening.
  • Go north and speak to the translucent boy beside the statue.
  • Leave the room and go further along the north path through the now-opened door.
    • Note: Although you can get this quest at the beginning of the game, the boss is level 25, so it’s best to wait until you can handle it. The enemies here are level 25 and very strong. Even when I came here as level 25, I still got wiped out by them. It’s best to just dodge them and avoid combat.
Brazier Puzzles
  • This room has three puzzles that need to be completed to unlock the next door. The order doesn’t matter, I’m just listing them in the most convenient order. All three puzzles involve pushing/pulling a brazier into a spot of sunlight. At any time you can activate the flame to reset that puzzle.
  • Puzzle 1:
    • Go all the way west and use bombs on the cracked north wall.
    • Crawl through the hole, around the curve, and then through the other hole.
    • Go all the way north and activate the brazier to pull it. Pull it all the way south with your back to the rock and release. Go to the west side, activate it, pull one square west, and release. Go to the south side, activate it, pull one square south, and release. Go to the west side, activate it, and push one square east. The puzzle will complete.
  • Puzzle 2:
    • Return to the entrance and then go north, up the first stairs, then northeast beside the water, jump down the broken stairs, then all the way north.
    • Activate the brazier, pull it two squares south and release. Go to the north side, activate it, push two squares south, and release. Go to the east side, activate it, push two squares west. The puzzle will complete.
  • Puzzle 3:
    • Return to just west of the water, go up the northwest stairs, then northwest up the next stairs.
    • Activate the brazier, pull it one square south and release. Go to the east side, activate it, pull three squares west with your back on the rock and release. Go to the east side, activate it, push one square west. Go to the north side, activate it, push all the way south. The puzzle will complete.
  • Go north, through the stairs exit.
  • Go northwest and activate the blue flame for a boss battle. (Note: even though it gives you a choice, you have to fight)
    • Hint: for a cheap win have Adrian use Taunt and Reflect. When the boss uses Curse (or the equivalent charged special move) it brings HP down to 1 on itself and a single hit will kill it.
  • After the shortcut leave the area and you have the convenient option to jump all the way out of the puzzle room.
  • Return to the spirit boy for another cutscene.
  • Move forward and activate the necklace.

Starcat Tails!
Source: Hunting Range map, just northeast of Quarry exit, talk to Hunter (woman beside cart and dwarf).

The Cure

  • Go to Hannah’s Herb and Potion Shop in the Springs Map, (hint: using the Teleport Crystals is very direct), and speak to Hannah.
  • Go to the southwest corner of the Springs map, through the exit, and fight the Ilaria Wasps until you have collected 10 Wasp Wings (Treasure).
    • Note: Even at level 28 I was getting worked over by these wasps. You might have to come back after progressing through the story a bit.
  • Return to Hannah for Antidote (Quest Item) and then return to the queen for a reward.

Down the Well
Source: Dian’s Gully, south from Cave of Life exit, speak to man beside the well.
Note: this quest will not become available until partway through Chapter Four.
  • Activate the well to enter a set of caves.
  • Go all the way southeast and then west to the stairs exit.
  • Open the chest to start a boss battle.
    • Hint: this fight is pretty easy if you don’t damage the support items and only damage the main boss (no AoE). Cleanse the debuffs and just keep damaging the boss only.
  • Return to the man for a reward depending on choice.

Elven Garden

  • Continue on the main story quest, back through Orlian Village, then east exit to Dian’s Gully East, northeast exit, north exit, and after entering Holy Lands, go south, swim through water, and enter ruins.
  • Go north over the bridge, activate the center carved wall, and enter to find the elven garden.
  • Return to the Old Man for a reward.

Ghost Bustin’
Source: Temple Orlian, speak to nun in basement at altar.

  • Once you have Fairy Circles unlocked, go to the southwest corner of Aloria, all the way to the south end, and activate the Fairy Circle there.
  • Fly all the way east and land at the Fairy Circle beside the dwarf.
  • Speak to the dwarf and then go east.
  • Go north and enter the cave opening, go south along the linear path and then down the south stairs to the next room for a cutscene.
  • Go down the ladder into the water, swim north, climb up the one square of ground that is sloped into the water, and go talk to the dwarf for a cutscene.
  • Go to the three symbol locations and activate them: swim to the east symbol, swim to the south symbol, and then take the Fairy Circle to the northwest symbol.
  • Swim back to the tablet for a boss battle and cutscene to complete the quest.

Crystal Ball

  • Go south to the crossed bridges, climb up the ladder, and then slightly west to the Library for a cutscene.
  • Now you must track down the three Power Crystals:
    • Power Crystal: Red (Quest Item) is located in Blood Forest, southwest corner, inside the soldier’s cave, open the chest.
    • Power Crystal: Green (Quest Item) requires starting The Tower (Side Quest) at the Apple Orchards. This will provide you access to the ruined tower at the northeast exit of the Apple Orchards. Go up the tower and open the chest on the fourth level. Defeat the boss and it will be a reward.
    • Power Crystal: Blue (Quest Item) is located behind Castle Atana in a secret area. Go to the northeast path of the Springs map that enters a small isolated section in the southeast corner of the Castle Atana map for a Fairy Circle. Fly northeast, land at the Fairy Circle, and open the chest.
  • Return to the crystal ball and activate it for another cutscene and quest completion.

Old Statue
Source: Go to South Starway, go east to the Cave of Life entrance, and speak to the right-side woman.
  • Go directly north into Cave of Life, then through the west opening, and activate the statue on the stairs.

A Lost Land
Note: this quest will not be available until partway through Chapter Two of the main story.
Source: Return to the statue on the stairs and break the stone curse.
  • After the old man leaves, go east into the opening, through each of the linear caves, and into the desert land.
  • Go west and then south across the bridge into the building.
  • Go south for a cutscene, then go south through the opening, then go south again to exit the building.
  • There’s a long circular route from here: go far to the northeast, then to the south, then to the west, where a cave opening can be found.
  • Enter the cave opening for a cutscene. (Point of no Return – boss battle)
  • After the fight leave the cave and go back to the temple where the magic barrier has been released on the door (Note: instead of walking all the way back around you can enter the building to the west and activate the switch on the roof for a bridge shortcut).
  • Go in the door, go north, and open the chest.
  • Now leave and go back around to the southeast corner of the map where there is a building with a red locked door.
