1. Method - Unlock Expedition Rewards via No Man's Sky Service Bot App
  • Service Bot App on NoMansApp.com: This is the most advanced universal and recommended method and the absolute only single way to still unlock past expedition rewards on platforms like the PS5. This method works with a advanced and fully automated service bot that joins your game in multiplayer like another player and 'magically' unlocks the rewards in your game accountwide for all your saves all at once. This is also the cleanest, quickest, safest and most simple method all in one since it doesn't require you to edit your savefiles or use modifications. It simply triggers the vanilla game reward mechanics as if you unlocked the reward naturally. The only downside is that free users can only unlock a certain number of rewards per month (unless one becomes a patreon supporter) since this bot can only handle a certain number of request per time and so limits are necessary. 2. Method - Saveediting
  • Savediting with saveeditors on PC: This method works only on PC and MAC versions of the game. You need to make sure to always use a up to date saveeditor version that fits the current game and savegame file verison. Savegames and their structure tend to change quite often during game updates. As it happened in the past you soemtimes need to wait for the saveeditor tools to get updated to handle the reliable editing of the reward account file. Use at your own risk.

    Once you've started the saveeditor, load the respective save and go to the profile section. There you can check all the checkboxes for expedition items. Oonce done, save and check ingame.

  • Manually editing savefiles: You can also add the rewards manually to your accountdata.hg savefile without any saveeditor just using a simple texteditor.

    You have to open this folder for your username:
    C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS
    Or on gamepass:
    C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\Packages\HelloGames.NoMansSky\SystemAppData\wgs\[random number]
    There you will find all the savefolders for all game accounts. Open the one you need and then open the accountdata.hg file with notepad or any other texteditor.

    Use ctrl+F to search for "d4U":[] . If you have already completed some expeditions but not all, search for just d4U. Insert all the expedition IDs into this field from here.

  • PS4: For this game version the only option would be to use the costly save wizard tool to get your saves from the console to your PC where you can edit them with the regular PC saveeditor tools. Before buying safe wizard which is not free you should rather consider the service bot solution (Method 1) since it's much cheaper in the end and saves you all the trouble of extraction/conversion of your savedata.

  • XBOX/Gamepass: If you have the gamepass version and a PC you can download the PC gamepass version, start the game once to make the cloud save sync to your pc locally. Thereupon you have the chance to edit the save. Once done resync the cloud save by starting the game again on PC. The edited save should now be available on your XBOX as well. So be aware that you also need a PC and the proper game version (gamepass) for this to work.

  • Switch: You can only access the savedata from the switch game version if you use a Custom Firmware (CFW) or Homebrew. This voids your warranty on the console so I cannot recommend or explain this here in detail. Once extracted the saves will work with the regular PC saveeditors.

  • MAC: Since the MAC OS supports java you can use the goatfungus saveeditor on mac as well. Other saveeditors might not work at all on MAC.

  • PS5: There is no option for the PS5 at all to extract or deal with savefiles. Use the service bot (Method 1) instead.
3. Method - Modifications from NexusMods
  • There are currently two major mods that allow you to unlock the rewards. The downside is that you need to update these mods after every major game update since otherwise your game can crash and the mod might not work at all. Sometimes it can take up to two weeks for these mods to get updated for the most recent game version. Other than that it's a decent solution for PC. MAC does not support mods at all. And consolers can't use this method either.

  • 1. Once you've downloaded the mod, extract the .pak file from the download.
  • 2. Copy the mod file (pak file) to:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS".
    If MODS folder doesn't exist create it.
  • 3. Rename "disablemods.txt" file to "disablemods_not.txt" or delete the file.
    Full path to file:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\disablemods.txt"
  • 4. Done, the mod should now work ingame.
4. Method - Replaying Expeditions
  • Replay Expedition Trick: With special tools you can force a replay of the expeditions in offline mode which also allows you to unlock the rewards. Sadly this method only works on PC and MAC and it takes some playtime to get the rewards via this method plus some effort to set this all up.

  • Step 01 : Set your game software to "Offline".
    (Steam and GoG have an Offline mode but prefere to cut the wifi or network after downloading the file from step 2)
  • Step 02 : Download the "SEASON_DATA_CACHE.json" file from the cache directory of the Expedition you want to redo.
  • Step 03 : Replace the file in your [cache] directory with the one you've just uploaded
  • Step 04 : Restart "No Man's Sky" in Offline mode.

Save Locations on different devices:
  • 👉🏻 Steam PC : %APPDATA%\HelloGames\NMS\cache
  • 👉🏻 Steam Mac : ~/Library/Application Support/HelloGames/NMS/cache
  • 👉🏻 MS Store/GOG : %APPDATA%\HelloGames\NMS\cache
  • 👉🏻 SteamDeck : /home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/275850/pfx/drive_c/Users/SteamUser/AppData/Roaming/HelloGames/NMS/cache
