Slender Man

Created for the "extended workshop" community's Horror Jam, Slender Man, The Folklore, strikes fear into the battlefield!

Disclaimer: this character DOES NOT feature any intentional jumpscares, atleast to players - it might jumpscare the characters though.

One of THE original creepypastas, Slender Man is definitely one of the few true representations of Internet Horror. Especially with youtube series like Marble Hornets or EverymanHYBRID, he's influenced so much of the landscape.
2020's had an interesting resurgence of Slender Man, portraying him in a more lighthearted, silly man kind of manner, but with this custom character, i wanted to revisit the ominous aura he's always had and properly represent him - or, well, atleast in my own way.

His gameplay revolves around the concept of DON'T GET CLOSE. For his JAB he possesses a static aura that deals damage to opponents devastatingly quickly, and while he can't do anything but walk and jump while he's using this move, he can always stop it quickly or cancel it with a parry or airdodge too - it won't be as easy as just hitting him out of the move!
Not just that - with NSPECIAL, he can also extend his tentacle from the back to grab and drag you towards him, making it even harder to simply run away. As one of the pages said, CAN'T RUN.

⦻ Jab - Interference
When used, a circle of TV static starts surrounding Slenderman. This move can be held, and you can walk or jump while using it.
If an opponent gets close enough to the area of TV static, it starts dealing damage to the opponent in a VERY rapid speed, encouraging them to get away as soon as possible - or I suppose you can try to attack him, which would put him out of the move, but little do you know, that Slenderman can always cancel out of this move with an airdodge or even PARRY out of it...

⦻ Neutral Special - Tentacle Pull
Slenderman extends his tentacle from his shoulders and attempts to grab the opponent. When hit, the opponent will be grabbed and dragged towards Slenderman.
When you're dragged on the floor, you take additional damage too.

⦻ Side Special - Closing In
A simple dash-type move where you move forward a specific length, while having super-armor.
This move is immune to projectiles (while in armor).

⦻ Up Special - Forest's Leap that Reaches Tall
A very simple, quick and high leap for USPECIAL. The final hit is hard to land, but it packs a punch!

⦻ Down Special - Looming Shadowstep
Just like in all the Slenderman depictions, this move lets you teleport behind opponents ominously!
When the move is used, Slenderman's shadow starts extending forward, while Slenderman can still walk around (but not jump). If this shadow catches a GROUNDED opponent, this stuns the opponent in pratfall, and Slenderman teleports behind them.
This move is immune to projectiles (except endlag).

⦻ Gimmick - SLENDER SICKNESS
Featured in many series that feature Slenderman or atleast something alike, Slender Sickness is a weird condition that affects humans that have had a contact with Slenderman in one way or another.
It usually manifests in form of paranoia, coughing, or maybe even coughing up blood. In here, however, it manifests as a status effect on opponents.
Slenderman's various attacks apply little amounts of slender sickness, and once it builds up enough, it is a full slender sickness, and the opponent is marked with the infamous Operator Symbol.
When an opponent is slender-sick, their % starts fluctuating. This isn't just a visual thing, and it has a possibility of actually increasing knockback taken, if you're unlucky.
Not just that, in this state, their Taken Hitpause is halved too. This gives the opponent much less time to decide on DI before the hitpause runs out, potentially giving them some panic?
There's more to this status effect, but that's for you or your opponent to find out...
