HANDL- Handling is important in this game, I consider it the second most important stat, however there is a downside to having too much. Too much handling can affect your ability to maintain a drift on wider turns, as it will cause you to turn into the inside of the curve too far. It's best to judge how much of this you need based on individual tracks, but I typically adjust it to be around the middle of the slider.
POWER- This stat directly affects your top speed when boosting. It can be affected by a higher SPEED stat, but isn’t penalized by lower SPEED stats.
WEIGHT- This stat affects how your boost operates. A lower WEIGHT stat charges boost faster, but also loses the boost faster. A higher WEIGHT stat charges slower, but can maintain the boost far longer. For tracks with lots of turns, lower WEIGHT is better, while tracks with lots of straightaways are better for higher WEIGHT stats.
SPEED- Cruising speed. Like mentioned in the POWER stat, higher cruising speeds can improve your top boosting speed, but only if your driver's car is naturally fast and you pick the speed mod. However, at that point, you're likely sacrificing too much to other stats and will not perform well. The best use for this stat is in lightweight cars that need to go a little faster when there's nowhere to boost.
