How to install DLC for Dragon Age 2 on Steam if you get it from EA Play (100% works) (Latest update 2024 method)

Dragone Age Veilguard is coming and you want to play All Dragon Age games before it's released?

I have spent several hours trying to get this to work. All solutions I found on websites won't work a single one.

I will write it down here for future reference, it might be helpful for another player if they came across my post. This is 100% guarantee fixed for STEAM user

here is the easiest step to fix DLC issues for DA 2 Ultimate Edition who got it from EA Play on Steam.

here is the easiest step to fix DLC issues for DA 2 Ultimate Edition who got it from EA Play on Steam.

1. Open Dragon Age 2 and Login, after login is completed, quit the game

2. download all dlc from https://help.ea.com/au/help/faq/dlc-for-classic-games/

3. download 7zip from https://www.7-zip.org/ (You have to install 7zip, only 7zip can let you open inside .exe file, RAR won't let you do that)

4. After you done installing 7zip. go to your desired dlc .exe and use your mouse

- right click, search for 7zip and click it, click open archive

5.you will see folders inside .exe file for example

$TEMP,

$PLUGINSDIR,

$_2_

6. Open each of its folders and drag all items into
:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dragon Age II\addins

7.Open the game and enjoy

Hi, i apologise for my bad english i am a spanish native speaker. I have a problem, i don't have the file "addins". What can i do? bc if i create the file the game doesn't detect it.

This is what I found about fixing the Unathorized thing! Tho I'm not sure if it works for everyone since I apparently got the items from the DLCs even while mine were technically marked as Unathorized. Very cool of Bioware to just let their old games rot like this and force this ammount of investigation and engineering on our side lmao

OKAY! NOW IM JUST ANNOYED!
(AFTER SPENDING THE LAST 5 HOURS TRYING TO FIGURE THIS SHIT OUT! i FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT.)

I logged out of my EA Account in game. Then logged back in. After accepting the terms and conditions, (updated for 2023 i think) ALL OF THE DLC SHOWED UP AND WAS AUTHORIZED.

I'm getting drunk.

So I have tried literally everything to access the DLC and nothing is working. (yes, I am unwilling to go digging for cracked versions).
it is still saying unauthorized, not showing up in Hawke's house and nothing i have done has fixed it.
I read on another forum about changing a file from saying: "RequiresAuthorization=1" to "RequiresAuthorization=0" but they didn't post which file. (and the thread is from 2018) Anyone have any idea which file it might be? i'm willing to be a guinea pig to see if it will work.

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing too. It seems to be the only way to get the DLC to work properly if you're playing through EA Play on Steam.

btw another solution if anyone can't make it to work as if they are Unauthorized. you had to download cracked dlc from sites yourself

I don't recommend it because they are illegal, do it at your own risks

Shouldn't the manifest.xml files in each mod's folder be edited to remove the unauthorized text in the downloadable content menu? Anyway, the chests and statues in Gamlen's room didn't appear.
