[PREFACE]
We love this game, but we think it's best played the way it wasn't intended.

Ready or Not is a great game. But it's far from perfect, and we assert that fact as part of its charm. The rough edges, unintended mechanics, and minor oversights have provided my group an additional layer of complexity for our creative players. This guide aims to highlight these quirks, offering tips and strategies that leverage the game's imperfections for speedrunning or smoother clips. By understanding and embracing these elements, you'll play more efficiently and deepen your appreciation for the game's unpredictable nature. This guide will be updated as time goes on, as our experiments add up.
[DEALING WITH BOOBY TRAPS]
SUBSECTION ON TRAPS

Improvised explosive traps and all their withstanding variants are an essential part of about half of all the maps in this game. They add an element of unpredictability that forces you to slow down, wasting time to disarm them as well as check for them. Here, we highlight ways to better go about them.
Locked Door Principle
Traps don't spawn behind doors that are locked. This eliminates most of your concerns when looking for safe doors to open; be it C2, ram, or your breaching shotgun. This is a simple but worthwhile consideration to keep in mind when checking for traps.
Assisted Peeking
You can quickly check for traps without visually relying on the game's god awful contrast, an under door mirror, etc. This game features a "Disarm Trap" command when pointing your cursor towards a door with the SWAT commands menu active,

  • Open your SWAT commands menu, and approach the door. Keep your cursor pointed towards the door throughout.

  • Peek the door. Tap the peek prompt twice to prevent any line of sight being established at all, tap once to leave it ajar. All that matters is that you peeked the door at least once.

  • You can tell when the door has a trap when the "disarm trap" option shows up. If the door is safe, no "disarm trap" command prompt will show at all. If it is trapped, it will appear.
