In The Dark Prince we got a new Size System.



From size 1-50 a monster is Small.
From size 51-100 a monster is Large

The L monsters in this game take up 2 Team Slots. And while they get a few boni to make them stronger, they also get lower max stats depending on one of their traits (Tactical...) to balance them out.
Meaning it's not a good idea to just make any monster large, but to weight out the up down sides of this specific monster.



I choos to make Hell Gladiator large because of his trait Collective Punishment. Some traits like this can only appear in large monsters.
And in combination with Ultra Crafty Sleeper and Paralyser he can use Sleep Attack and Paralysing Punch to not just do damage but also take out the whole enemy team.
U can find both attacks in Hive Mind and Multidisciplinarian

We allredy know that they take up 2 slots in your team. Another thing that is the same for all large monsters is that they get a 25% bonus to their max HP & MP.
And they also allways have a Tactical trait. This allows them to do multiple attacks in 1 turn. But they also loose max stats depending on how strong the Tactical trait is.


If a small monster allredy had Tactical Trooper it will not be replaced by one thats stronger.


Small monsters got 3 traits they can have. And unlock at certain levels.
Lvl 1
Lvl 20
Lvl 40

Large monsters get another 3 traits
Lvl 1 (Tactical if they hadn't one before)
Lvl 1
Lvl 60

U can look up the traits of large monsters if u allredy own just the monster by looking in the Monsterpedia in your menu. Or in the preview screen when synthesising a large monster.

U can also add more traits by equipping a Ring or leveling up certain Skill Tree's.

Size also manipulates the max Speed and HP a Monster can have.
Size 50 is +/- 0 Speed and HP.
Every Size below is +1 Speed and -1 HP
Every Size above is -1 Speed and +1 HP
So a Small Monster with Size 1 can have +49 Speed and -49 HP than a Size 50 with max Stats.

Every map has 1 large monster that exist as a challange.
U can feed it meat and try your luck in scouting them with a very low chance, or come back later when u get a better team.




Every time u beat a map there is a small chance that wild monsters can appear large in that area. Some wild monsters in the Middle and Upper Echelon can also be only large. Only Terrestria has no wild large Monsters asside from the Giant challange monster.




U can also synthesize a S monster with a L to create a new large monster.
What matter's here is the size of the monster. If the the S monster is only arround size 20 u need a L monster close to size 100 to make up for it.
As large monsters are rare it is best to increase a small monsters size as close to 50 as possible before hand. U can do so by either synthesising it with other monsters or use Size Up Seeds.
Size Up Seeds can be found in Coach Joe's Dungeon Gym DLC in Chest. or rarely if u release a monster. The Seeds alone can not make a smal monster large.




After u created your first Rank S monster the Mole Hole DLC will upgrade and allows u to hunt L size monsters of a random rank.
But these monsters are Lvl 50-59, so be prepared before trying.
