Introduction
I have been looking for games that capture the same feel as NaissanceE - whether it is the visual style, the unique atmosphere, etc. After playing several titles that reminded me of it in different ways, I decided to put together a list for other NaissanceE fans. In this guide, I will show games with a similar vibe to help others discover similar experiences.
Game Types
Type 1 - Brutalist Exploration: These include brutalist architecture. You navigate through maze-like, large, and isolated environments. Strongly reminiscent of NaissanceE.

Type 2 - Brutalist with Open Spaces: These include brutalist architecture, and these also include sky-lighting or outdoor areas, even open-world, but little reminiscent of NaissanceE.

Type 3 - Puzzle-focused: These do not include brutalist architecture, these focus on puzzle-solving, but minumum reminiscent of NaissanceE.

Sorry about these walls of text, they must be tiring to read. I'll give BLACKSHARD a shot some time, as well as other games in the list. So far I played BABBDI, it's the GOAT.

Thanks for sharing your opinion on that, appreciate it. So, as I get it, it's more about confusing and/or rewarding the explorer, while saving a certain level of intrigue throughout the entire piece. I personally just disagree with pieces that do not answer questions at all. Yes. an intrigue must be there, but it is just one of the instruments a storyteller can use. If you make whole piece about questions, intrigue gets old fast, just wears out. Although I understand that the gameplay IS the story, I struggle to find any anchor to associate myself with the character who knows more than I do. I must know at least something, maybe, not about the world around me (megastructures as they are do not need to be explained (at least, not entirely)), but about my character. The questions are: who, where from, where does go.

BLACKSHARD did took a more narrative approach that might be interesting to check out if you already havent?

NaissanceE is just so unique, it's not just a puzzle platforming adventure. It finds countless bizarre ways to confuse and disorient player intentionally, almost as if its mocking the player for trying to make sense of it. It challenges and rewards curiosity while teasing with constant intrigue about the nature of itself. It doesn't need to explain itself, if it would, the mystery would be watered down.
PTSDriver 11 Jun @ 9:57am
Fair enough. I'd also mention all-in-all slow pacing (despite running, due to the enormous size of the structure), having multiple ways to reach a point of interest, and... tranquility? I mean, it's the environment you fight most of the time you play, trying different paths and solving puzzles.
As for me. Not gonna lie, I found everything mentioned above charming, too. But I would love the game even more if there was just a little more of traditional story elements besides the names of the chapters. My love for complex narrative experiences speaks for me. Although environmental storytelling in NaissanceE works well. Just not as I would expect.
There is the depth to it, but I just can't stop thinking that it's not enough. For this particular reason, I think, I opened this guide in the first place.
Why I asked? I want to understand how it works for the others. To enjoy this kind of aesthetics like they do, to full power.

Ah, i'd say NaissanceE has more minimalist look to it. There is no clutter or vegetation. Everything is composed pretty much from same material for the most part. Bleak Faith has more realistic look. Simply put.
PTSDriver 11 Jun @ 9:19am
I don't insist on adding Bleak Faith into the list, don't get me wrong either. I changed the topic a bit just to learn more about experiences in a friendly conversation.
PTSDriver 11 Jun @ 9:14am
Yes, I agree. But what even is this specific aesthetic in the first place? That's what I was talking about. And yes, it was the different question.
