@Ravus Sapiens Not really, that way you do a truncated Icosaedrum, not a sphere.... On both cases you would be using the same "cheat", over with a sphere not made out from planes, but deformed to create a sphere, otherwise on both cases you over with an "aproximation" (a better or a worse one) of a sphere, but not a real sphere.

@Ancience, unfortuanately, you cannot. The best you can do is have 12 pentagons, no matter how large the sphere, or how many hexagons, you will always need at least 12 pentagons to tile a sphere (this can be mathematically proven, if you're interested)
